Dunfermline statement on Rangers

1133

This evening’s announcement by Dunfermline Athletic that they no longer expect to receive timely receipt of the £80,000 ticket money Rangers FC PLC (in administration) owe them will heighten concerns at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, who have a stock at tickets with Rangers right now, money for which will be received by the administrators in advance of their game later this month.

The administrators have yet to decide whether to retain high-earning players or make more funds available for existing creditors, and future creditors, like Inverness.  As ticket sales for the Inverness game are on-going, the administrators will need to be aware of their legal position before retaining a premium squad.

One final push (this week) for the Vanessa Riddle Appeal. We have a Celtic top signed by the first team squad available to auction on eBay. You can bid on the auction and help send Vanessa for the treatment she needs by clicking here. Thanks to Penfold for the donation and to Taggsybhoy for organising (yet again).

“When you think about it, that would probably be the best possible outcome from the perspective of each and every one of their competitors.”

Not if there is a period of rampant inflation. It would be easier for them to pay back £45m from attendance revenues, if £45m in 2020 buys you what would cost £15m now. Would you bet against hyper inflation recurring anytime soon?

In any case, I would not trust them to keep to the terms of their negotiated penalty as they would be forever appealing (not in that sense) for a reduction in severity, once their memory of the offence fades.

They need a signal that this was wrong. They need to die and be re-born. It will be no great comfort to me or punishment to them but the narrative is important. Rangers 1872/3 must die and not be mourned.

I wonder how Terry Butcher feels about the possibility of the huns bumping Inverness for next week’s ticket money? 3000 tickets at £25 a head means Butcher’s team loses out on 70 grand, easily enough to pay the salary of two players at Caley Thistle. Still think Scottish football needs this club Terry?

Thanks for the reply. If your understanding that newco entry decision lies with SPL board is based on STVGrant’s article here, a guy on twitter challenged him on it, saying this only refers to administration. STVGrant then replied, accepting that was true and saying Part 3 would deal with liquidation.

Some CQNers believe SPL Rules & Regulations indicate that it is the SPL Association (all 11 member clubs) who would decide and not the board.

Part 3 of the linked article still hasn’t been published, hence my feeling that there is no definitive answer.

Great calls from Steve and Peter(?) on Clyde to kick off.

Hopefully Steve read my rant on the nightshift last night.

In case you slept throught it.

    —–

I heard those calls and agreed they were excellent…. your rant is nothing more than what would be expected in a fair and just society, and I agree entirely with what you say

Unfortunately, listening to the Salmond today really hacks me off… I HAD a lot of respect for him… not any more. How can he come on and glibly mention paying back the cash sometime, but then say the most important thing is for Glasgow Rangers to continue.

No, its not, you cretin….. the most important thing is laid out exactly as you (GG) stated.. but I suspect we are going to be hugely disappointed

As far as the SNP are concerned, this sort of politicking (and it is exactly that, dont want to upset a huge number of HUN SNP supporters do we ?) is exactly that, and will backfire big time… there are a lot of people raging about the media and politicians right now. Following on from their bizarrely Sectarian bill (and it is exactly that), the SNP have been shown up… thinking I’ll be voting Green going forward (no seriously, I really will) but I certainly wont be voting for those dullards

    Cheers

Perhaps liquidation isn’t the bet result for us.Make them pay their bills over a number of year. This would damage them on and off the park for nears.

They wouldn’t be attractive to new buyers with a large debt being repaid every year.

Liquidation would mean an end to the ridiculous 5 stars of shame but might bring in investment quicker.

HMRC need a result after Pompey and Redknapp if the huns get off then they are wasting their time. It may sound good for a hun but for the game in the UK it will be the end of the public love affair with the game. Opium for the masses is getting way too expensive.

The decision seems to be end it now or keep it going, losing dignity, loyalty and all other things they hold dear, bit by bit over a few months.

I couldn’t really care what they decide to do.

Italian football has been getting a lot stronger over the last couple of seasons IMO.

  15. The honest mistake

That is another issue and I’m sure all will be done to assist in this prcess I trust the SFA not one wee bit and thats without the influence that we know RFC exert in Scotland and in Scottish football.

When the dust settles on the financial side of things Celtic through the appropriate channels must make sure that sporting integrity as well as financial governance is corrected, and all they have won in the EBT period wiped and sue for loss of earnings. Not too much to aim for I hope.

    Dunfermline should have known better

take a lead from CFC …we saw the huns coming

    I forgot about that.

I wonder why they didn’t protect themselves.

If Dunfermline were to say anything today it should have been something along the lines of “we find it astonishing that after a well publicised £24m deal with Ticketus and £6m Jelavic deal Rangers are now in a position of being unable to pay us £80,000. We will be seeking dialogue with the administrator to ensure prompt payment of our dues which are necessary to pay our staff and overheads”.

In reality, their £80k is probably sitting in one of Whyte’s offshore accounts along with his new found wealth. Dunfermline have allowed thousands of Rangers fans into their ground for free, lined Whyte’s pockets yet their main concern is for “the great football club”.

I hope they die along with the Huns.

  18. the long wait is over on

Any chance big Chris Sutton could be asked for a comment on the Dunfermline statement?

Your post made me laugh, the reason? Today at work, one of my colleagues was talking about Dingwall, now this guy isn’t the brightest, but he’s far from stupid. He turned round and said to me in all seriousness, “Mark is a clever, clever guy” I managed not to collapse on the floor, but was too dumbfounded to say anything, I simply had to smile and walk away, I have to say it was a big “knowing”smile.

Many of them are so deluded. On Monday one of his fellow huns was waxing on about administration not meaning anything, it probably wouldn’t happen anyway!!!!

I have been having a great time ;-) Very difficult retaining any semblance of a professional appearance with such hilarity coming from them. Ha ha ha

Their assessment is to bury the cheats.

Division 3 should be deep enough!

  24. I heard Andy Gray confidently predict success for Arsenal earlier this week.

In his opinion, Italian football had fallen a long way behind the Big 3 leagues which he listed in this order- England, Spain & Germany.

He probably thinks Rangers will take a 10 point hit and bounce back.
