I’d a look at the fixture list preseason and didn’t expect we’d be top of the table so early, having played only three games with 10 teams having played four, and two of those games coming against our nearest challengers from last season.
But we stepped up to the task. The earlier win at Tynecastle and beating Aberdeen 4-1 on Saturday has issued a warning to all. Bookmakers are offering Celtic’s title odds of between 2/9 and 1/7, and have created a separate ‘Betting without Celtic’ competition. One of Brendan’s jobs will be to remind players that they need to earn the points every time the whistle goes. Defeats come quickly to teams operating at 95%.
Not that we had it all our own way on Saturday. Aberdeen disrupted our rhythm and passing in the middle part of the game. You can see how Brendan has changed the way we use the ball in possession, but there’s still a bit of work to do for it to become more natural looking.
The goals were outstanding. Leigh Griffiths’ effort would be immortalised in song, if one of the Barcelona players due to visit Celtic Park soon had managed it. Tom Rogic’s technique is of particular importance.
Celtic face a lot of packed defences; having someone able to reliably hit an unstoppable shot from around 22 yards changes how a defence will shape up to play us. This is a player Leeds United thought they could buy for £1m recently.
I was pleased to see Dorus de Vries make his debut. He had little to do, and could do nothing about the Aberdeen goal, but if he’s to be relied upon in any of the important games ahead he needed an outing as a Celtic player.
It was equally important Erik Sviatchenko came through 90 minutes with Kolo Toure. The defence is set for some almighty challenges ahead, and will need to face them with little common game-time to allow partnerships to be cemented.
There’s a degree of trepidation for the Champions League task ahead, but pretenders to our domestic dominance beware: evidence mounts that this is a good Celtic team – one which will continue to improve for some time to come.

You’ll remember the last time KU was on looking for the truth, only that time he was accusing us of inappropriate handling of funds used to pay legal and consultation fee’s. He was also claiming he had information that would shake everyone’s faith in the res12 reps and accused us of working with the Plc to scupper res12.

Canamalar. I didn’t accuse anyone of ‘misappropriating handling of funds’. At the time, I had been involved in a CQN blog discussion and asked Auldheid how the ongong legal process was being funded, I was subjected to much abuse and name-calling by numerous CQN posters. I was called a troll, a member of the meeja, hun, scum, etc., and a nonentity (cc Canamalar).
Auldheid, for his part, didn’t try to call off the attack dogs. On the contrary, on two occasions he hinted that I could be physically assaulted if I were to meet with a certain donor, or donors, of the Res 12 legal fund.
I should point out here that there was a distinct difference between my situation and that of other keyboard bullying threats, where by and large the actual identities of protagonists are anonymous. My real name address, place of work was available to you, and, by extension, to Auldheid as a requisitioner although he says he doesn’t have my personal details. At that particulr time, though, the intemperance of Auldheid’s language gave me no confidence that he would not have disclosed this information to a third party. I remember one of his posts where, in true Glasgow parlance he promised me a slap in the coupon from, I presume, one of these anonymous donors.
In spite of this I eagerly accepted his invitation to meet up with a donor, crivvens!!, but this was immediately withdrawn by Auldheid leaving me convinced more than ever that Celtic were footing the bill for any legal work.

This time his new truth is that the res12 reps have been hung out to dry, and we’ve said nothing about it, he’s obviously not been keeping up. And to think he actually believes we have depended on the Plc for anything or that they have enough influence to hang us out to dry, that is risible. The fear must be getting the better of him :)

I let you know of my disappointment that a unique opportunity to make the club accountable on a constitutional level had been passed up. Also queried BRTH’s last minute ‘recruitment’ as a requisitioner. You replied stating your view that the club coming aboard the Res 12 project gave it a far better chance of success. ‘Risible’!! eh?
You then invited me to share some confidential information that was only available to a selected few, of details of discussions that had taken place between the requisitioners and the club resulting from Res12 being removed from the agenda.
I replied by stating I wasn’t interested in being privy to his confidential information. I had taken part in the campaign with the express purpose of helping expose the corruption festering within football’s governing body. Now I was being invited to be part of a clique that was displaying the same characteristics of secrecy and unaccountability as the organisations it was mandated to challenge.
I emailed a reply declining your ‘invitation’. I recognised the unholy alliance for what it was, a complete ’stitch-up’, and a betrayal of 100 signatories of the resolution.
And, by the way, your refusal to acknowledge my identity could prove futile. I’m known to at least half a dozen regular posters here who I’m confident would vouch for me, and my Tim credentias if I asked them.

I think that Matts Nilloc last post today entitled anyone who has been following the blog recently (last two years) that it was appropriate exactly for that reason which leads me to believe that you haven´t.
The perpetual use and accusation of child grooming thrown around by Tony Donnelly and picked up by the trolls and permitted on CQN cannot have been lost on you ? It has went on too and too often. I can only assume that you don´t mind .. certainly not as much as my perceived trolling

One of the UVF blogs I read was not nice.

The heady heights of u-21 fitba, we played in the East of Scotland league hence Whinchburgh, Whitburn, Blackburn and the likes ((1988-1991)…. We bumped the famous Campsie Black Watch out (on their own park) in the first round of the Scottish Cup, every one of them had signed s-forms……think Paul Dickov’s brother was meant to be the nest best thing, they were not best pleased, although their park was beautiful

On Gamboa, 160 club appearances, fair enough, 14 of those have been made in the last two years. Only 3 of those 14 were as a starter. With the amount of game time in the last two years I would imagine he has been brought in as cover for Lustig.
Or who knows, are we still trying to sign Andre Wisdom as well, time will tell!

Interesting concept… extending the English League to Five Divisions and inviting some top Scottish Clubs to participate.
I kinda like the idea…
As Welsh Clubs already participate it would constitute a true Great British League.
What I would say is that if we were invited I’d like to see some restructuring that meant that the top Scottish Clubs weren’t stuck at the bottom of the Divisions playing Conference Level sides and don’t have to wait three to four Seasons before competing with Championship and Premiership Standard Clubs, which our top Clubs have the Potential to be.
Of course, randomly parachuting various Clubs into various divisions will be seen as divisive so Clubs should reach their “level” as soon as possible on merit.
One suggestion I have…
At the start of the expansion… Season one…
Keep the Premiership intact, promotions, demotions and play-offs excepted.
Keep the Championship intact, promotions, demotions and play-offs excepted.
And restructure Divisions 1 & 2.
Most incumbant Clubs notoriously Kangaroo between and up and down these Divisions anyways.
So… select the “extra” Clubs from around Great Britain that will be involved in League expansion.
Put those Clubs, with the Division 1 & 2 incumbants into a “Hat” – seeded if felt appropriate.
Select in a fair manner three “equal” Divisions.
The start of the Expanded League will have the following Divisions…
First Season
Div PL…..Div CL….Div A….Div B….Div C
Div PL – First Tier
Div CL – Second Tier
Divs A, B and C Equal Third Tier
After the First Season, the Champions of Divs A, B and C go into the play-offs for the Champions League. The other Clubs go into either a new Div 1, 2 or 3, dependent on their final League Position.
So within one Season the whole League will have 5 Divisions Tiered on merit.
Second Season
Div PL…..Div CL….Div 1….Div 2….Div 3
Div PL – First Tier
Div CL – Second Tier
Div 1 – Third Tier
Div 2 – Fourth Tier
Div 3 – Fifth Tier

Read earlier that Gamboa suffered re Pullis, not sure how many games Scott Sinclair has played in last few seasons, unsure about his Villa contribution but Swansea under Brendan was where he flourished, like you a fit Lustig is a good right back (think he is better at centre half) but am sure that BR guy knows a bit more than us :-)

Just had a look at a video clip of Christian Gamboa playing at the last World Cup. Very impressive speed, fitness, skill and tackling. He has some engine. One of the players he is seen beating for pace is none other than Raheem Sterling of Man City, who is no slouch.

I’ve actually seen gamboa play in the flesh before; was at a match in sydney almost 3 years ago now, it finished Australia 1, Costa Rica 0, Costa Rica were quite solid at the back and Gamboa struck me as being a pace machine at the time, very very fast
Don’t think he has played much football in recent years but I was impressed with what I saw of him back in November 2013

I concur on TD67 posts — I don’t read everything but there were 2 posts which I thought were bang out of order for any Celtic supporter. I didn’t say anything then as I was surprised nobody commented and as just scrolled by. I don’t know of any real Celtic supporter who would use the innuendo that TD67 used on such a sensitive subject.

If the English League wish to restructure their game, they should take a leaf out of UEFA’s book.
Place invited clubs in a league based on their drawing power, football turnover and crowd figures.
It won’t be done with any thought for football integrity.
Personally, I don’t want to see Celtic condemn itself to the lower leagues of English football, where we would languish and wither.

You then demanded the power of audit and to meet the funders, Auldheid was going to set up a meeting with his for you and I talked him out of it simply because my attitude was/is, who does this prick think he is, tries to spread mistrust then plays the victim card, acting like you’ve been wronged or cheated, your support was removed with your email that accused me of selling out, so you were owed nothing as far as res12 goes and who has the power to decide that ? Me, that’s who.
You then went on to scunner Auldheid and he rightly treated you like the gobshite you are.
You’ve done nothing to support res12 you’ve done more to scupper it than support it, your perceived entitlement is simply that, perceived.
