FFP hits the mark, Atletico-Hearts of 86

2160

It remains a possibility that Atletico Madrid will lose today’s league decider against Barcelona and next week’s Champions League final against Real Madrid (vernacular: ‘do a Hearts), but I hope not.  The fact that they have pushed the two most celebrated football clubs on the planet to the limit, across two tournaments, is already remarkable.  Should they deliver on two fronts, it will be the most stunning achievement in European football in 47 years.

There was a healthy amount of bloodlust for the Uefa Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules to fine the life out of the likes of Manchester City and Paris St Germain, before banning them from Uefa competition.  This was never the point.

What Uefa have done is bring Europe’s two most freely spending clubs into line.  FFP will restrict City and PSG’s expenditure, transfer market activity and squad selection.  This is a result.

It’s a pity we’re not at Celtic Park to lift the Scottish Cup today.  *!*!

Enormous thanks to Tommy Gemmell and everyone who participated in the entertainment here yesterday.  Tommy thoroughly enjoyed the banter and will be back on the blog below this article early this afternoon to catch up with the questions he didn’t have time for yesterday.

That is brilliant. How do the wee hens adapt to the change in their circumstances. Well, I am sure, and are they laying yet?

They have adapted wonderfully. Unfortunately, one wee hen didn’t make it. The wee soul was just too weak to survive the transport to a new home. That is a wee insight to how your eggs are produced. SHUT THESE FECKING BATTERY HEN HOUSES DOWN ASAP. KTF

He did re-emphasise a whole stand alone policy. It is hugely important that we demonstrate that.

Scottish football has let it paying support down for at least the last decade. The TV contract should have been more transparent. For fans who have been cheated to discover they’ve been paying to keep that club prominent stinks.

That shite on Saturday morning was an utter disgrace.

    An embarrassment.

    A 70 year old man.

A Celtic LEGEND treated that way.

And yet some ,…not all…have the cheek to come back here like nothing happened.

Ive never seen anything like it.

    An utter disgrace.

    ANGRY FROM MAYFAIR.

  5. Weefra,

I only buy free range eggs when I am in Scotland. The battery hens are treated badly. Continuing blessings for your farm output. Good night.

I look forward to you dissection of the ESPN and BT TV contracts. I’m available to do homework on any tasks you may have for me.

It’s little wonder the TV companies were worried when the men in charge of the game are so clearly crap at their job and were talking of the game collapsing. Scrapflow’s post is encouraging me to sort my registration issue with TSFM.

Nice to know you support the ole ferming thingy. Hahah. We really are devoted animal lovers, with 2 rescue dogs and a rescue cat, can’t really have more, although we would if we could. Hehehehe the more we can home, the merrier. As long as the mix is ok. KTF

Sorry our chat in the flesh was so brief. Next time.

Did I sing the opening lines to Thunder road to you? I have a vague recollection that I did. Gawd!

    That was an excellent summary.

The bigot pound needs ‘a’ Rangers. It’s a big market. Can we ditch that? I hope so.

I believe the dire state of Newco’s finances means they will be at least fecked for this decade. We don’t need competition to come from any vile club playing from Ibrox. If the culture of the governing body can be changed then fans of other clubs will increase and competitors to Celtic will develop naturally.

I’m more aware than ever that Celtic operate in a climate that is anti-Celtic and are limited in what they can do.

Something needs to be done to bring back the thunder to Paradise. A team capable of going further than the last 16 in the CL will do that. I hope DD wants that. If he does. That is what will happen. I can’t help thinking he is treading water hoping for an EPL move or similar.

I’m a fan of beer fueled babble on CQN.

  20. the bould bhoys on

    I said …back when….

Celtic cannot do a thing about this situation less they be seen by this cuntry’s meeja as rockin the boat/stirring sectarianism/causing civil unrest/ blahblah ….and it was up to US to do the work. To force, the issue, to demand answers. To give our Club the nudge to ask the questions.

A few people have been involved. ‘Left click’ collecting signatures of share-holders for example. Auldheid and Rogan Brogan have played major parts to get Canamalar’s resolution to this point. It really has been a team effort. Celtic have also been important. Most people dismiss that but it’s a fact.
