Getting ready for our summer panic

615

We have a curious end of season coming up.  Out of the Scottish Cup and a matter of weeks away from securing the league, the last six weeks of the season will hold no competitive challenge for Celtic.  Neil Lennon has suggested he will, as last season, rest players with next season’s Champions League qualifiers in mind.

The end of last season, however, was complicated by the Scottish Cup Final, so players were spared in small numbers, for short periods.  There is no reason why we cannot give players the equivalent of their summer break the day after the title is secured, on the basis that they return earlier than normal, to build competitiveness before we experience our annual fright against a team we need to look up in order to spell.

Send them away as soon as possible, do a Kenny and play the promising youth players, and get the first team back very early.

Congratulations to Patrick Kerr, who was at table 16 at CQteN, and who has won a Champagne lunch for two at The Honours restaurant, Edinburgh.  The Honours is owned by Michelin Star chef, Martin Wishart.  It will be a great experience, Patrick.  We’ll be in touch by email.

Seville – The Celtic Movement, is moving…

““Look at that old bloke there in the full kit. He looks like a Subutteo man”. Turned out it was my dad and we hugged and shed a tear. We were altogether as most of the guys from our CSC had met him and heading to a European final. Our CSC was 5 years old. We had our flag and we were ready to watch our team lift the cup.”

Aussie P.M. states credible info. from satellite imagery that 2 objects have been located in the search for missing plane.

Sensibly,Tony Abbott is playing down speculation that they may be part of the plane, but has

nevertheless had discussions with Malaysian P.M.

    Australia sees possible plane debris

    Breaking news

Two objects have been seen that could possibly relate to the missing Malaysia Airlines plane, Australian PM Tony Abbott has announced.

Australian vessels have been searching in the southern Indian Ocean for the aircraft, which disappeared on 8 March with 239 people on board.

Mr Abbott said the objects had been identified on satellite imagery.

An Orion aircraft had been sent to the area to try to locate the objects, Mr Abbott told parliament.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing when it lost contact with air traffic controllers.

Twenty-six nations have been involved in a major search for the missing aircraft.

“The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has received information based on satellite information of objects possibly related to the search,” Mr Abbott said.

“Following specialist analysis of this satellite imagery, two possible objects related to the search have been identified.”

Mt Abbott warned, however, that finding the objects would be very difficult and said they could turn out to be unrelated to the aircraft.

A number of sightings of possible debris have been investigated in the search for the plane but so far none have proved to be related.

  10. macjay –

I reckon the plane caught fire. It was an electrical fire which killed all the communication devices. The pilot changed course, intent on landing the jet at the nearest airstrip. Toxic fumes rendered everyone on board dead or unconscious. The plane flew for several hours on auto-pilot before running out of fuel and crashing into the ocean.

Very occasional poster – mostly lurking. The few times I have posted it has always been directly related to football (i.e. comments on how Celtic have played in a given match or whatever).

However, I read James Forrest’s piece earlier about McCoist. Don’t get me wrong, I agree that AMcC comes over as “sleekit”: scheming, duplicitous, over-defensive and ill-informed. He definitely overplays his chip-on-his-shoulder persona far too much.

However, I feel this is missing the target big-time. McCoist is just a pawn in the games that surround sevco.

People write lots of contentious stuff online: but am I the only one that doesn’t feel comfortable about posts that question McCoist’s role in Tommy Burns’s funeral? What would TB have thought? What would his widow think? Do people who write this stuff on the internet ever consider that? What happened to basic tact and decency?

I think we should be focussing our attentions on the real bad guys: Ogilvie, Bryson, David Murray and LNS (was he WILLINGLY conned in his assessment of the old club’s cheating?).

McCoist is a sideshow: no worse, no better. Character assassination of a bit-part player gets us nowhere.

    Agreed.

    Completely inappropriate.

  14. Questioning anyone’s role in relation to Tommy’s funeral is an insult to Tommy, his family as well as the person in question. Tommy’s wife obviously had some say in the matter.

  17. McCoist is a sideshow ?

    Sideshow Blob it is then.

I agree with the point though. Tommy may well have liked the man, and would have preached tolerance and forgiveness.

That said, i can’t disagree with much of what JF wrote, and can’t bring myself to like McCoist.

His sleekit whisper in Neil’s ear, and his subsequent silence as the s**t hit the fan, saw him forever condemned as a coward with a streak of yellow down his back as wide as, well, a wide streak of yellow.

He is a pawn in the game of thrones currently being played out, but doesn’t have the guts, or the character to do anything but play to the hordes.
