  1. Well done Brendan and the bhoys.

Horrific conditions and a terrible ref, but we finished as strongly as we have for a while.

The Sky coverage just summed them up. Inept, half-ar***, and amateurish.

As for Neil McCann wanting a penalty for Accies? Really? This is just laughably biased coverage, good riddance when their whole edifice collapses.

Point is, he played for us for all of those years and just doesn’t get it or simply goes along with the party line for the cash. Disgraceful in every way…..

  5. OK, last plug for a few days, I promise –

    *** GOALS FOR SHAY ***

Thinking of that last minute Christmas Gift? Then why not treat yourslf (and/or a family member) with an application to join our latest competition, “Goals For Shay”. The fun all kicks off on Saturday 14th January 2017. It’s dead easy to play – every week you get an email with a set of selected fixtures. Then, simply pick 1 single unique different team each week over the 10 week period, and hope that your chosen team scores a few goals. Cos goals equal points. The entrant with the highest aggregate goals scored will take the entire prizepot.

The cost of entry is £10 per team entered and if you pay before 14 January 2017 you get awarded a free joker to get double points when you decide to play it. You can also buy one more additional joker for just £5.

The prizepot will consist of 50% of the £10 entry free. The other 50% plus ALL of the money raised from the additional joker option will go to support Walk With Shay.

As I said, easy to play but even easire to enter – just drop a ‘can I play’ email to cqnpredictor@gmail.com and we will send you full details on how to pay plus a bit more on the pretty easy rules. Try to remind us of your moniker or nickname. We tend to respond in batches so give us a few days before sending any reminders!

And feel free to encourage anyone you know to join in – tell your family and friends, share on Facebook, involve your work colleagues, etc. Your children, especially, may think they can do better than you!! Remember who won LMS8! And we are a competition open to all.

Thank you for Walking With Shay.

42 folk have already asked to join this particular clique from all over the world! Our first target to hit is 55 ;-) ;-) ;-)

Me & MissGFTB just getting ready to head to the family vigil at 5pm where her and her P4 pals will be on the altar for a wee rendition of Silent Night, a wee CQN candle will be lit for everybody in need of a prayer (not sure it helps but I am more than sure it won’t hinder)

P67 hope you and the family have a great Christmas, your blog is much appreciated by many, many more than the odd detractor, but at least the have somewhere to detract :-)

Hope every Cqner, lurker, Celtic fan, non-Celtic fan on here has a lovely Christmas

    Collum defies logic

How can someone so bad at their job have such a successful career?

His arrogance is astounding…the man is a buffoon

The bhoys stuck to it today and saw the game out very comfortably…great three points in atrocious conditions

Even with their own idea of a handicap race they can’t touch us …

  10. prestonpans bhoys on

ITs interesting reading the comments regarding the Sky coverage, I binned them a long time ago.

I fail to under stand Sky’s strategy on this, the amount of revenue lost because of this biased reporting much be substantial and is surprisingly missed by their London executives.

  11. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gerry, thanks. We’ll do our best lol.

I hope all in the Shields residence have a joyous time especially the wee yin. She is at a great age to really enjoy Christmas.

Great result for us in horrible conditions.

The guy who does etims twitter has rightly shown no festive cheer towards sky in a tweet earlier. The eff word used a number of times and well deserved by sky.

We have to give Willie Collum credit where it is due. He has got to the top in both of his careers without being particularly good according to some of his former colleagues.:-)

  15. Afternoon

Now on the prosecco after getting home from game. Scrooge to watch and I will finally get into full Christmas Spirit. Seem replay of Callum Mac’s second yellow. Willie obviously on a bit of the underdone potato there. Just an unbelievably bad decision.

  16. onenightinlisbon- Gilligan is one of the main reasons DD hired BR, he started singing the sash in the boardroom at Hampden after the semi final

I have to agree with VP re Bonner, i was in Cologne airport after we lost 2-0, my mate asked him if we could turn it round at CP, ‘ don’t know why you are asking me, i won’t be playing’ he said, it took 4 of us to hold my mate off him.A very unlikeable guy.HH

  17. Seen the first 20mins, then got dragged toEK for xmas shopping, kept up to date through cqn, brilliant as usual,Lymmbhoy -didn’t miss a goal thanks to you mhate.just going to watch jinxy Johnstones highlights on YouTube:-))

  18. Greetings. I haven’t read back today so please forgive if I am repeating something already posted.

Last Saturday’s London Times produced an excellent piece on the proposed transfer of Chelsea’s Oscar, aged 25,and a man who has played for just 27 minutes in this season’s Premiership- to Shanghai SIPG, for a £60m fee and £400,000 per week after tax wages. The article focused on the hypocritical reaction of some Premiership clubs pointing out what was occurring was simply an extension of what happened to Ajax, Celtic and Benfica. Big clubs caught in small television catchments hence their inability to compete because Sky’s subsidy of the English game had created financial junkies out of them.

Paul has often written about the bubble. I thought the developing technologies would be the undoing of the Sky hegemony over football and never really considered that China’s determination to enter the arena could spark the beginning of the end. Now clearly a lot of acts still to play out however the European game must be threatened by China’s interest and their ability to tap into a vast population keen to have soccer delivered into their front room. The one child policy is now coming home to roost with millions of single men unable to find partners and will turn, rather sadly, to a night in to watch TV or get along to a game.

The bubble isn’t actually bursting it is just moving somewhere else with huge consequences for particularly English footbal.

Today’s Times carries a 2 – page spread on the soon to be world’s most expensive defender, Virgil Van Dijk. In a very long interview he talked about playing for one of the world’s largest clubs ( by fan base ) Celtic and how they were locked into what is perceived as a poor league- hence English clubs not prepared to pay top dollar till he had proved himself at a decent level in England.

He is about to be sold for £50m + but soon perhaps even English clubs won’t be able to compete.

It’s all rather sad. In our own country we had Rangers with a little help from their friends in authority try every trick in the book to build a club to compete at the highest European level. They got soft money from the banks ( which when Rangers and the banks collapsed caused the public purse to pick up the bill ), used dodgy tax devices to gain sporting advantage and when they were in trouble managed to gain a European participation licence was it was patently clear that they were not entitled to have one.

In England non entity clubs are bloated with cash and have inevitably grown complacent.

When eventually the storm blows itself out it will be clubs who have a really strong identity, ethos and limpet like support who will be the real winners. That might take a wee while so keep the faith because the Glasgow Celtic will be there……………. Have a great Christmas everyone.

  19. Great to hear Chick Hun bemoaning a 1 horse race in Scotland………..can’t remember him doing that when he was waiting tables for Murray and Souness…a wee gibbering wreck of a man

  24. I think Gilligan was on the sauce.

Met him at a function recently. He went out his way to come and talk to our “Tim” table. He spoke highly of a mutual friend ( Celtic minded) who had sadly passed away recently .

There was no trace of hunism when addressing a mixed company .

The message is different , not quite Charles Green Esq but cringeworthy.

I suppose we should understand . Have they no suffered enough ;-))

Apologies if I misread your meaning, but I think you are misreading my intentions. I have no love or intention of fighting for the Butchers Apron. Au contraire, I want nothing to do with it: sovereign, currency or otherwise.

If we don’t break away properly I feel we will be worse off and be the poor relation. I want a true independent socialist republic!

  27. Bonner not on my Xmas card list either.

Our SC had him booked as POTY (Centenary Season) in the Kerrydale Suite on the Saturday night after an early k.o. at Love Street.

We were informed (when we arrived) that he’d pulled out as he had been offered a slot on RTE on the Sunday. He arranged for Darius Wdowczyk to fill in – poor guy and his wife could hardly speak a word of English (didn’t stop the troops giving him a good time).

Bonner’s trophy was still lying in the Catering Manager’s office a month later.

Still annoys me all these years later! :-(
