HOOPS KID NEW YORK-BOUND

CELTIC kid Cameron Harper is a pre-contract target for New York Red Bulls.

The 19-year-old California-born forward, who made his debut in the 1-1 draw with Hibs on Monday, is out of contract at the end of the season and looks poised to move, as CQN reported.

Harper, an American Under-20 international, has been stalling on an extension at the champions and is said to be frustrated at the lack of game-time at Parkhead after arriving in 2018.

A pre-contract is set to be agreed with New York and they will make a cash bid to try and get him in before the new MLS season kicks off in mid-March.The American transfer window opens on February 10.

New York Red Bulls are the Big Apple rivals to New York City who are managed by former Hoops gaffer Ronny Deila.

Harper, who lasted an hour in the stalemate with the Edinburgh side, could get another outing against Livingston today with Celtic still minus 13 players due to Covid-19 isolation issues following Christopher Jullien’s positive test for the virus upon arrival from the squad’s trip to Dubai a week ago on Friday.
