There have been many questions about the unusual circumstance in football of Rangers going into administration but not making any players redundant. It is possible, and not totally uncommon, for directors of a company in administration to arbitrarily choose to provide funds from their own resources to pay any chosen creditor, including staff. In football, players’ contracts of employment need to be with the club, but the source of payment can come from anywhere.
In this instance, Rangers Group, the club’s holding company, or any other body or person, could be in sufficient funds to provide the administrators with enough money to not only pay players, but to continue operating in a relatively normal state. Rangers’ administrators have already suggested Craig Whyte has guaranteed to make-good wages due to be paid this week, although it was not made clear which entity would be paying, or the source of such funds.
Administrators will only be forced into player redundancies if they do not have sufficient funds available to see them through to the timely conclusion of negotiations with creditors, or if they are unable to receive binding undertakings from another source that they will step forward to pay players next month.
Various sources over the weekend suggested HM Revenue and Customs were prepared to extend generous time to pay terms to Rangers. This club is owned by Craig Whyte. While we all know what a stand-up guy Craig is, how likely to you think HMRC are to believe he will stick to a plan stretching out years into the future? It’s just not going to happen.
I hear a ‘We’ll take a few years to pay too’ campaign is set to trickle through the SPL if HMRC agree to this one. Better using the tax man as a bank than using an actual bank.

And these recent revelations has nothing to do with our recently revived interest…
Forgive me for being cynical.
Can`t find the original statement by Bonzo, but certainly more than ten years old.
The interest is from Argentina. But Cameron will get the blame.
Cynicism? 100% behind you there.
TimJim,
enlighten me please,
what do you find offensive about being called a fenian
I don’t want anyone arrested or prosecuted for using words! I want people to express their disdain for the sentiment behind the words.
It’s too easy to get into this ‘he said, he said back’, pish!!!!! Call me something to my face, sing in a mob about what you want to happen to me, shout down the thing I believe in, feel free!!!!!!!!
I DON’T CARE!!!!
What I believe is what I believe, it is open to ridicule & disdain, my beliefs should be challenged by me and I should have to be able to explain those beliefs to myself.
Otherwise we go back to the middle ages of witch hunts, hypocrisy, inquisitions and crusades.
The worst thing someone can say is ‘you’re not allowed to disagree’
Bunburybhoy – exactly my memory too – half sick/half wetting myself. It’s odd I saved it – I remember thinking there’s bound to be a day when I can read it with nothing but laughter. Still not quite there, but getting so very very close now
Christ I did it again try again RELATIVES need to lay of the Jameson better sticking to Ice cream & jelly
Scotpatsfan,
You’re spot on about those who wish anyone dead being unChristian – in fact, they’re behaving like Huns. You may not be quite right about mining being an altogether anti-Catholic environment, tho’ the Lothian mining area did produce one of Scotland’s worst bigots – the Labour councillor Sam Campbell. To put it mildly, it’s a gross over-simplification to blame M. Thatcher for closing Scotland’s mines: they were on the skids anyway & many would have closed had Callaghan remained in power, but the person who actually closed them was Scargill.
That was handy that, walter his royal cardiganess

Kikinthenakas:
Watery hamhock for em, the best homemade broth for us; spam fritters for them lot, steak & trimmings for us; lumpy custard for them and special dessert of choice for us.
Thats the reality for them.
Am i guilty of triumphalism?
Why don’t I feel any guilt- is Schadenfreude wrong?
But it is truly amazing to witness the amount of unashamed hunguffery from the Scottish press and even politicians to try and separate the football side of Rangers from their owners and tax avoidance and non-payment of taxes in an effort to gain support for them to survive in the SPL.
I always liked the below reason for them getting tagged ‘the huns’
in 1961, rangers travelled to wolverhampton to play wolverhampton wanderers in the European cup winners cup. true to form, their supporters ran riot through the town destroying everything in their path. in an article appearing in the English press shortly afterwards they were described as ‘coming across the border like marauding huns’. thus, a humorous accurate and nonsectarian term of endearment was created for the rangers

I really like your name, hero of mine,so I will be polite.
BLOODY STOAP IT. :o)
TimJim,
has fenian has nothing to do with faith
your ignorance is surprising
Shouldn’t the RangersMedia site be getting closed down & its administrators arrested for inciting religious hatred? Last time I looked, this offence was still on the statute books.
I mean, they’re not just having a go at us,but they’ve trained their guns on Muslims, too!
They really are ‘the peepil’,are they not?!
I’m amazed they can still shock me,considering their history,up to,and including, torture & murder for fun.

Regardless I don’t think we can dismiss the fact that the Falklands helped her get back in in modern not so bigoted as Scotland

No argument there…he was too easy and had an ego the size of a 181 bus.

It’s been mentioned on here before.
N McCann + le petit merde are huns. But Kenny D and Danny McG are not Huns. Religion does not come into hunism.
Btw, Hoops fans being Tories? Can’t see how it’s possible.
ArdMacha, what you trying to do? Start a WGS v MON debate! Totally agree with you though on Gordon, great achievement on 3-in-a-row and 2 last 16s in those circumstances.

The
I never normally comment although always keep up to date on the blog.
I am fuming after listening to clyde 1. It’s a sad indictement of Scottish society when that utter bias drivel is broadcast.
I’ve heard that the word Hun stems from a headline in a newspaper in north west England after the Huns played Preston in a friendly in the 1950s, the town resembled how it did after being bombed by the Nazis in WWII.
Or that their fans are akin to an invading horde, either way it is a mock term for Rangers fanns and anyone who affliates themselves with the club. clearly not sectarian.
I for one intend to keep using the term as often as I can….
the Huns are going bust:-)

Is it not a name they use when referring to a catholic
Origins of HUN, my grandad Tommy Brennan, explained to me cica 1965,( my first wee red book ) that when players got a cap for Scotland the country they played against was shown in the WEE RED BOOK as a abreviation of country i.e capped against Wales WAL, England ENG. Scott Symon then rangers manager was capped for Scotland once against Hungary, so in the WEE RED book Scott Symon HUN, Cant argue with that, but dont know if that is origin.
Brian Laudrup is a hun but Amoruso is a pure hun of the highest order.
Nothing to do with religion.
Just back from an internet free weekend, far too much to catch up on.
Went down on Friday night to Celebrate the Barrow in Furness CSC 25th anniversary and had a great night and some great community singing with the band ‘The Rising’.
A big thanks to the members of the club for a great night, and especially the hospitality in the Knights club at half time yesterday with champagne and ice cream and jelly.
Hope the link below works, a wee video of us doing the conga and huddle in the street.
Hail Hail

Anecdote : a true friend of mine from Drumchapel ( a Protestant ), is a Celtic supporter through & through. When I asked him why he supported The Bhoys he said, ” They play better football, their songs are better, and most Rangers supporters don’t follow Rangers because they play football. They just HATE Catholics, and I don’t.”
True story…I promise you.
TimJim,
naw its referring to Irish freedom fighters, whose ranks included may renouned protestants.
I’ve always wondered why we don’t just call them Nazis. Let’s see them call THAT sectarian
Wonkyradar
You are guilty of nothing! Don’t let that catholic guilt get in the way of enjoying what many thought would never happen, be happy and rejoice particularly for those of our friends, family, relatives etc who are no longer around to witness this spectacularly entertaining event, we will not see it’s like again.
Enjoy the beat of fare, there’s more to come. HH

I’m quite happy to believe Bik McFarlane (OC) in the Blocks during the Hunger Strike. he has categorically denied that Sinn Féin let the hunger strikers die for political gain.
That’s essentially Anthony McIntyre and Richard O’Rawe’s believe.
Recently Danny Morrison forensically and methodically put this smear to bed, when British government papers were released. (I can’t remember where the article is).
Gerry Adams has some enemies who were former comrades of that there is no doubt. Anyone rising to that level within the Republican movement, is bound to have stepped on a few toes. McIntyre and co have not agreed with the Sinn Féin peace process and political strategy from the outset and this issue is seen as a vehicle to attack Adams.
Dissident republicans espousing these views have went ot the polls and the communities have rejected them outright in favour of Sinn Féin.
