  1. Logged in so sad to watch celtic in Europe

I did for 30 mins when the first one went in I see it was closely followed by a second

    Desperate stuff

European nights are a complete non event

Feeling sorry for the 6000 fans

  2. tonight was always going to be an ask, but man its the same thing every game in Europe. We are consistently the easiest team to score against year in year out in Europe.

    Great for 30 mins.

Boys Guild level defending kills us again.

    Same as it ever was.

  4. Sutton talking rubbish. He reckons this is because Scott Brown is missing. Has he watched the dozens of Celtic in Europe games when Broonie was playing?

No, the blame goes higher up than Broonie.

  5. glendalystonsils on

Hope Dermot and Peter are watching. We don’t have the defence or leadership to compete even at the second level in Europe. We were the better team in this game before the shambolic self destructing started.

  6. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Said after the last game and before this one, as soon as one goal goes in another one (or more) follow straight after. Questionable mentality on top of the woeful defending.

  7. Right come on Brendan work some magic on the players at half time .

Next goal if we get it , we’ll push on …

    i’m sure we will ?????

  8. Celtic start well (despite wearing the much despised dayglo kit) but once again our defensive fragilities are cruelly exposed. We just don’t seem to be able to cut it at this level. Thankful we aren’t in the CL otherwise a few major doin’s would have been coming our way. Little wonder PL is pushing for a third tier euro comp.

  9. This is down to the players, no one else. Plenty of possession and controlling the pace of the game. Could have scored with a wee bit of luck. Then individual errors come in.

Tierney and Ntcham stand off and allow a cross to come in easily; Kouassi misses it and Boyata is wrong-footed, not expecting the ball. 1-0.

Panic sets in and Gamboa goes to ground and leaves acres of space. We don’t deal with it 2-0.

The result of not playing against teams who attack us consistently with pace, until we play in Europe.

Has been the case forGod knows how many years.

After a bright start, Kouassi and Mc.Gregor fell out of the game.

    Tierney is in shock.

  11. I think we’ll always be crap in Europe until we start playing better teams week in week out and I can’t see how that will ever happen.

  12. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

Can`t see past a constantly changing defensive line up as the main contributor to the problem.

For whatever reason that is the case.

Are players now more vulnerable to injury these days ?

A stable defence , where players know what to expect from each other , and know each others strong and weak points , is surely what we must aim for .

A defender on loan ie temporary must surely be only a last resort .

  13. Thought we did very well for first 30, a bad mistake led to goal & straight away everything went pear shaped.

Hard to see where we go from here, keeping it respectable seems the best we can hope for tonight.

Overall we look out of our depth in European Competition, I never give up till it’s over but already my focus is shifting to Murrayfield next Sunday.

  14. Dear oh dear, this is awful. European Groundhog Day. Another spelling in the making. N’tcham is having a mare, as is McGregor and Kouassi. Kieran is passing to men under pressure also. Ryan Christie is playing really well. Odsonne needs support. He is being crowded out.

Come on Bhoys lift yourselves in the second half, move up a gear and give it a go. Having said that, I’d take a 2-0 defeat right now.

  15. GLENDALYSTONSILS, does not matter if they are wacthing they cannot be moved oh how i wish celtic would not compete in europe it is so embarassing

  16. We should have set up to frustrate them considering our absentees, putting in Morgan and Christie daft, plus does Nchamp want to be here, turned his back at second.

Gamboa will get blame but hes up against 2 or 3 every attack.

  17. glendalystonsils on

Watching those goals replayed it just looks worse and worse. Second goal not only does Gamboa sell the jerseys but then two Celtic players DB and ON go for the same ball which breaks to the RBZ player. Also looks like Gordon could have done better with the shot.

Wouldn’t blame Dedryk for the first. Kouassi should have left it to Dedryck but sticks our a lazy leg which deflects the ball.

  18. Big Georges Fan Club - Hail, Hail, Wee Oscar on

Played well for first 30 mins – bubble burst after the first goal.

Still had some decent positions – so chances we can score IF we get our bottle back.

Edouard has been in a couple of good positions centrally, drew 3 or 4 defenders to him, but needed to release to another Celtic player rather than try to bulldoze through himself – Lewis Morgan was unmarked on the right of the box twice. Also had a chance to play in Ncham early for a roll in to an empty net but unfortunately didn’t see him. That improved vision will come in time.

Poor setup to defend the throw in before the first goal – that was more of a problem than the two swing-and-miss attempts in the box – wee sclaff from KE meant that Boyata was flat footed by the slight change in direction, so no real fault on his part.

Gamboa always been prone to diving in – no surprise there – needs to use his head to jockey the boy down the wing – dive-in was asking for trouble – very poor.

Need a brave recovery in the second half – two legged-affair, so a 2-1 defeat would be, for us, a good result. Brendan – get some brave-pills into the Bhoys.

  19. Same squad of players making the same basic schoolboy mistakes.

The blame lies with the mentality.

    Bottlers.

  20. Macjay, I’ve been wondering about that for ages. For two seasons we are plagued with injuries. Why? Is it the training regime? The sports medics/scientists at the club?

I read recently when Roy Aitken got into the hall of fame, He was never injured!

Our players are injured just playing and training. Rarely in tackles!

  21. Joe Filippis Haircut on

It is disappointing watching Celtic away in Europe we are the whipping Bhoys for every team we play.Brendan Rodgers Achilies heel is his management in Europe it has got to the stage where I do not care about Europe and stick to watching Scottish games our once European reputation is in tatters.
