I like Neil Lennon. If Neil Lennon is talking about football, I shut up and listen. But I respectfully disagree on other subjects. If the last three years have taught us anything it’s that Celtic don’t need oldco or newco Rangers. Unequivocally, Celtic Park is quieter since Rangers liquidated, the level of competition we previously had added many to the gates, none of us feel the anxiety of genuine sporting challenge, but so what?
If Celtic sell 40,000 instead of 50,000 season tickets are we mortally wounded? The accounts would suggest otherwise. Does it mean we cannot compete in Europe? I refer to Neil’s record. Does it mean we cannot attract quality players? Well, it means we will not be able to attract some players, but I’m more than happy with the calibre of players we’ve recruited at the moment. Good riddance to the parts of Celtic that went out the door when Rangers were flushed down the Liquidation Lavvy.
I’m going to cut Neil some slack. I’ve been among Rangers fans and been generous enough to acknowledge income will rise at Celtic if newco ever reach the top flight. It costs nothing to be magnanimous.
What we do need is competition, the like of which Aberdeen have given us in the league this season and they and Dundee United may provide next season, if current trends continue. Congratulations are due to Hearts, who won the Championship before the clocks went forward, an incredible display of dominance, but as our two cup wins against them this season (3-0, 0-4) proves, they are miles away from providing the level of competition we see from Aberdeen.
Don’t have time to get dragged into a larger debate at the moment, but whenever Scottish football next turns its mind to strategic development, how to bolster Aberdeen and United should be top of the agenda. I enjoyed our four games against United this month and the recent league game against Aberdeen. More of them would be welcome.
We have a league split at the moment, where the top six hive off to play for the title, but it comes with only five games to play. An earlier split, allowing us more games against those at the top, while creating more opportunity for teams at the bottom to pick up points from their peers, makes more sense. Especially if more commercial income could be shared with the likes of Aberdeen and United.
Have you ever walked up Ben Nevis? Will you ever do so? It’s a big task if you are starting from scratch. When is it safe, what do you wear, what if something goes wrong, how long will it take, what about nourishment along the way?

Having said that if that scenario does come to pass the cheating will happen irrespective of whether any one of the incarnations of the dead team is about or not.

Neil Lennon is in such a precarious position regards the hunnery,he has to be careful so keep that in mind,what scunners me more is why adult professionals elsewhere involved in the game preach that we need a club from Ibrox when Glasgow Rangers proved not even CL money could sustain them thus involved themselves in underhand financial chicanery and now that those avenues are closed to the new football club at Ibrox how can anybody,who’s supposed to have credibility of opinion on the game,tell us we need a club from Ibrox when it’s finances are in ruins,even CL money was not enough before.

“THE Board of [Sevco] International Football Club PLC has accepted loans totalling £1.5m from Douglas Park, George Letham and George Taylor. The funds are unsecured, interest free and no fees are payable.
The Board is delighted with this show of support.
The group has stepped in as the full extent of the financial damage caused by every regime over the last four years becomes clear.
However, Rangers interim Chairman Paul Murray wishes to assure fans their Club will recover fully despite those years of gross mismanagement.
Mr Murray, who has been studying various contracts closely since he and fellow Directors John Gilligan, Douglas Park and John Bennett gained control on March 6, said: ‘Many of the people who have occupied the Ibrox Boardroom during that period should be ashamed of themselves for the parts they played in dragging this great institution towards near financial ruin. The acting Chairman also pointed out that Dave King will be given the opportunity to invest in the Club in the weeks ahead. ‘He is not doing so at the moment,’ Mr Murray pointed out ‘because, as we have said, we respect the processes of the SFA and must wait until they have completed their review of Dave’s status before he can fully participate in the future of the Club. [And this prevents him from giving the club a loan?]
‘After that we will be inviting him to invest alongside the gentlemen who have just provided today’s facility and others who are also willing to invest.
‘We can and we will rebuild the Club and this £1.5m investment is Stage One of the process.’
It can also be revealed that [Sevco] will not now be progressing the drawdown of the second tranche of the Sports Direct facility.
Mr Murray was emphatic when he said: ‘We have already made it clear we are happy to engage with Sports Direct but the Board has decided against drawing down the second £5m tranche of Sports Direct’s £10m loan.
‘We are still in the process of reviewing all of the contractual relationships that Sports Direct has with the Club and we hope to conclude this review very shortly.’

I understand where Neil Lennon is coming from the mistake he made is naming a team, there was nothing better when Celtic and them where going for it and it was tight and you won and they dropped points, the fans where up for it the players where up for it aswell but they days are over and will never return that chapter in scottish football was over the day the huns died.
It’s all about what we do in Europe now that’s our big games now we should walk the league and pick up cups on a regular basis now.
We certainly don’t need a club from ibrox that’s for sure HH
