CELTIC will face Buckie Thistle at Parkhead in the Scottish Cup fourth round after this evening’s ballot.
It will be a first for the Hoops, who have won the competition a record 41 times. They have never before met the non-league club in competitive football.
Coincidentally, the holders took on Highland opposition in their previous encounter in the tournament at Hampden on June 3 when they beat Inverness Caley Thistle 3-1.
Celtic sealed a world record eighth domestic treble with their victory over the Championship club.
UP FOR THE CUP…Kyogo Furuhashi with the silverware at Hampden last season.
It turned out to be Ange Postecoglou’s last hurrah as Hoops manager and Filipe Jota also claimed his final goal for the club with the third strike to make certain the silverware was heading to the east end of Glasgow for their fifth time in seven years.
Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada netted the other goals in an encounter in which Carl Starfelt also played before his August move to Celta Vigo.
Earlier in the day, the champions maintained their eight-point advantage at the Premiership pinnacle when Aberdeen drew 1-1 with their Ibrox visitors. Bojan Miovksi scored an early goal for the hosts before James Tavernier equalised in the fading moments with a controversial VAR-assisted penalty-kick.
