Suker, Uefa and regionalisation

935

Croatian hero of the 1990s, Davor Suker, currently Croatian Football Federation president, is campaigning for a place on the Uefa Executive Committee, one of 12 people chasing 7 places.

Sukor has been campaigning across south-eastern Europe, with a simple message: collapse the cream from the national leagues of 13 countries into one powerful 42-team regional league structure.  He has support across the region, including Turkey and the former Yugoslav countries.

Smaller countries across Europe have realised that they must regionalise or accept a future of irrelevance.  The Gazprom-funded deal between the Ukrainian and Russian regional league floundered at the onset or war but regionalisation is not going away.  We need innovative campaigners like Suker to rise to positions of authority, replace the ranks of the incompetent and talentless.

Well done to newco for rewarding those who used their media outlets to campaign relentlessly on their behalf in recent years with a seat in the directors’ box on Tuesday.  I’m sure David Leggat deserved the accolade of being the only mainstream media journo so honoured, which is quite something.  New season lamb is in stock early this year.

  1. Can someone enlighten me as to why the bigot is referred to as “tinfoil head”?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. It sounds to me like the SFA has decided that the referee and his linesman (mostly the linesman) made an absolutely unholy mess of essentially what was a nothing incident that could have been settled with a couple of yellow cards and have decided to wipe the whole slate clean, which obviously won’t satisfy everyone.

I suspect the match officials will be severely dealt with for gross incompetence.

Let’s all just calm down and take Virgil’s exoneration as a massive boost and look forward to Broonie lifting the cup on Sunday.

    Bring it on.

If one was guilty and one was not guilty, does that not make rather a difference?

  5. It’s a reference to conspiracy nuts and the like who wear tinfoil hats to stop the authority reading their thoughts……

    That’s my take…..

So Virgil is cleared and it’s a common sense decision. Ciftci is cleared and it’s anti-Celtic bias.

Which is it folks? Make up your minds.

    ———

To be honest Tom I thought all 4 could have been justified as red cards, some softer than others.

Anyway, I’ve been reading Orc and Arab fans forums today as well as here. As someone said earlier, if you were to cut and paste the conspiracy theories from each, you wouldn’t be able to tell which site they came from.

The SFA are for them / against us, the BBC / media have an agenda, not a penny more until (insert club) make a statement standing up against these blatant acts of corruption.

Referees make mistakes, look no further than the CL this week, maybe Hugh Dallas is briefing officials against PSG as well, did the French referees ever go on strike because apparently that’s the only explanation for questionable decisions?

I’m tired of it. Tired of every referee decision, every media comment being dissected and twisted to ‘prove’ a bias against us. I can no longer read live match threads on here.

This parochial view is seemingly prevalent at every club in this country, and it is ripping our game apart. I think I’ll just stick to watching games and leave the asylum to the lunatics, they have well and truly taken over.

    Peace

  7. So they are saying that the officials got most of it wrong. What sanctions will now be taken against them?

And when will Scott Brown be cited for aggressively using his neck to attack poor Cifci’s boot?

  12. Just a wee observation, referee saw both the Brown and VVD challenges, he was 5 yards away at most. The linesman could only have attempted to send the two players off for the “afters”. You can look at the stuff on BBC Scotland and there really aren’t any. They could never have upheld VVD’s red. Shitty should have got a red because no-one saw it. He is a wee scum-bag who will get his eventually.

A Rangers fan who was arrested for sectarian singing while on his way to attend a game against Celtic has been jailed for four months.

Scott Lamont, from Glasgow, was heard singing the words of the Billy Boys song on Cathcart Road on 1 February.

This just highlights the absolute stupidity of the OBA

This sits very uncomfortably with me.

This guy may just be a stupid Sevconian but 4 months in jail?

    To me that is obscene

  19. I’m surprised they let VVD off. Could it be a bit of fear at the racist SFA? And of course kicking a player in the head is okay as long as he is a celtic player. Fab!

  20. Burg bhoy 4 months in jail for singing is an absolute scandal. The Huns might be Huns but that is just outrageous. Good to know justice is alive and well in Scotland eh…..

  21. CQN 11’ers please be early tomorrow.

We’ve just bought some kegs of beer and we need to drink them between 6.30pm and 7pm in the Kerrydale. BRTH’s not coming so that makes it an even harder task!

Early arrivals – see me or Celtfish at the entrance to Kerrydale for your tokens. Have some whisky kicking about too for you all! The code word for this is Gary Mackay-Steven.

Oh and did we mention that we’ll have some first team guests there at the start for the first hour. Seated for dinner at 7.30pm when Patricia will sing the National Anthem to formally begin CQN 11. It’s gonna be good…

Thanks to everyone from across the UK and Ireland and from Canada, USA and Australia who purchased virtual tickets for CQN 11. You have a lovely bundle winging its way to you now. Hope you enjoy.

The competition winners’ prizes have also been sent today, sorry for the delay in this – there was a bit of confusion all round but sorted now.

  22. Ah, the good old bbc website re tribunal today….

“Brown’s heavy challenge on the striker saw Ciftci appear to kick out at the head of the Celtic captain. While play continued, Van Dijk felled Calum Butcher with a similarly physical tackle, both players then grappling on the turf.”

So Broony started it all. Virgil felled Butcher – no dubiety there – but Cifti only “appeared” to kick Broony. Unbelievable stuff.

  23. Neganon

    Unbelievable mate.

4 months for a song is incredible.

This country will end up criminalising a hole generation for what is probably a drunken rant !

Posted Monday morning – IMO all cards would be overturned, no dive action and boot would be treated as ‘not proven’ – ref didn’t see it as violent contact.

Move along – till the next fiasco!
