UNIQUE ANGLE: DYNAMITE DAIZAN BLOWS ‘EM AWAY

DAIZEN MAEDA was slow off the mark before he scored his first goal of the campaign in Celtic’s sixth game – the 4-1 League Cup win over Ross County in Dingwall on August 31.

Last night at Fir Park, the World Cup-bound Japan forward displayed his breathtaking pace to claim his fourth strike of the season to add to his contributions against Hibs (6-1) and Hearts (4-3).

Maeda thundered his way through the exposed Motherwell rearguard onto a sublime pass from David Turnbull that sat up perfectly for the winger to take a touch with the outside of his right boot, race onto the ball and zip a low drive past the outrushing Well keeper Liam Kelly.

CELEBRATIONS – AT THE DOUBLE…Daizen Maeda and Josip Juranovic after the Japanese striker’s winning goal.

That goal doubled the visitors’ advantage after his countryman Kyogo Furuhashi had opened the scoring with a typical opportunistic effort in the 15th minute following wonderful service from Matt O’Riley.

Maeda’s blistering pace and composed finish combined to give the champions all three points after Ross Tierney pulled one back in the 86th minute. The pulverising strike and the 2-1 success over stubborn opponents are certainly worth another look thanks to the lads at Celtic TV Unique Angle. Enjoy!
