Stop press: charade continues

1208

Prospective Rangers owners, Brian Kennedy and the Blue Knight (I refused to continue to pluralise a singularity) have submitted a joint bid for the club, which they consider to be “substantial”, which should mean it’s worth a lot more than the £11.2m Bill Miller spoke about last week.

The offer is conditional on a CVA being approved and Craig Whyte’s shares being acquired.  For a CVA to be put to the unsecured creditors, the secured creditor, Craig Whyte, would have to be satisfied first.

Whyte’s security as a creditor is valued (by him) in the order of £30m.  All proceeds from the sale of the club up to this value go to him unless he waves his rights or is subject to lengthy legal challenge.  Only money over and above this value will be available to the non-secured creditors, most importantly HMRC and Ticketus.

So, unless Kennedy and the Blue Knight have bid considerably north of £30m, we’re not talking pennies in the pound, we’re talking pennies in the £100m.  In the event a CVA is concluded, Ticketus own circa the first 25,000 tickets sold for each game for the next three years.

Apologies for repeating the same story now for ten weeks: Craig Whyte is the only show in town, he always has been.  Unless you agree to purchase his shares and security, any bid is a fantasy.  I think I can hear Mr Whyte laughing from here.  Perhaps they’ll now stop blaming Raith Rovers.

Apparently, the charade continues.

Interesting times indeed. Delahunt came back later, having I presume check it out. He said the domestic licence applications process ongoing. And he added that the European licence deadline was the 18th May and they were some way off it. The latter confused the hell out of me as I though they have missed the european deadline and come what May they are goosed for europe.

    You throw any light?

Never entirely confident of us winning at ibrox. Even when we are really firing on all cylinders. But then no doubt the orcs feel the same coming to us. Their record isn’t great at Paradise since we got our act together ala post- wee Fergus. I’m normally quite cautious. But this time I really feel we will win…an absolute annihilation? Not sure. I’ll take a win, considering it the very last game against the “real” huns.

What I would really like is us to win 5-2, the symmetry of our first and their last game being a 5-2 win to us would be beautiful.

Alternatively I’ll settle for a tainted 7-1 with every one of our goals reminiscent of Cadete’s disallowed equaliser in the NY game in 1997.

I listened to the media conference given by Ally McCoist today. You can pick it up on the BBC website. I recommend you do so. Here’s the link:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/scotland/17872914#asset

What struck me was that Al Lamont, the BBC’s reporter, who asks most of the questions on the clip, was frightened.

    Scared.

Al Lamont is a good reporter. He works for one of the biggest media organisitions in the world. He asked McCoist some good questions. Al Lamont is generally pretty good at getting to the point with his questions.

    Al Lamont was scared today.

In the interview McCoist effectively admitted that he and the senior management knew, and had known for some time, who the SFA Judiciary Panel members were. Of course they knew, Rangers own Andrew Dickson together with Rangers’ legal representatives attended the Tribunal, were introduced to the Panel, and spent some number of hours talking to them.

The senior management at Rangers knew, and have known for some time, which individuals made up the Tribunal.

When McCoist said in his rehearsed interview on Tuesday night, 24 hours after the penalties were announced:

“‘Who are these people? I want to know who these people are. I’m a Rangers supporter and the Rangers supporters and the Scottish public deserve to know who these people are”

McCoist knew who they were. He had known for quite some time. His purpose was to initiate a chain of reaction amongst ‘the lunatic fringe’ with whom he is long familiar, to create an environment of intimidation and fear.

    He succeeded.

He succeeded to the extent that, in the same week that members of ‘the lunatic fringe’ were being sentenced for sending bombs in the post to high profile Celtic supporting Catholics of Irish descent, the identities of the three members of the Panel were ‘released’ and subsequently violently threatened. Children required Police security for the school run. Anti-terrorism specialists were brought in to advise the individuals subjected to threats.

McCoist, on the instructions of his betters inside the club and outside in the Daily Record, had succeeded in creating fear of Rangers. Or more accurately, fear of the consequences of punishing Rangers.

Who knew the identity of the Panel Members? Other than the individuals themselves, only the senoir management at the SFA and the senior management of Rangers.

Who leaked the names to the mob? Take you pick.

Al Lamont wanted to press McCoist on this point in today’s interview. He tried. He simply couldn’t cross the line between a story and a kicking or worse.

Al Lamont tried, which is more than you can say for most of his colleagues in the media, but McCoist had succeeded already. Lamont, braver than most of his colleagues, was frightened by the consequences of doing his job properly.

Job done Rangers, you ugly gang of Disgusting, Dangerous and soon to be Deceased Fools.
