Barca are entitled to put out a B team if they want, why shouldn’t they give their fringe players a run out when they have nothing to worry about? We can’t expect anyone to do us favours. Benfica could well secure a point there. They outplayed Barca for a lot of the game in Lisbon, ripped the Barca defence apart several times but couldn’t finish.

nobody would have sniffed at 2-1 defeat away to Benfica at the start of this campaign…
I am confident we will beat Moscow too, how strong a team Barca will put out, is their second team strong enough to beat Benfica, possibly. If they play a few second choice players they may see it as a chance to shine.

“Dreadful dreadful performance. We made a very average Benfica team look like world-beaters”
A harsh analysis given we were similarly pinned back against Barca. The difference is we defended slightly better and were more successful in taking the few chances that came our way. Hooper or Kayal score late on and you would have been joining in the celebrations and predictions of making the final…
It wasn’t an outstanding performance but we coped reasonably well and competed. We could have been lucky but we weren’t. We have had luck up to now in this competition, que sera. Back us to win against Spartak and I really think Barca will win their game…
Wilson and Forster the stars. Denzil seemed unsure…

My take on the EBTs?
Gives BDO an opportunity to reclaim money on behalf of HMRC.
Had they found Rangers liable,it would be a dead-end. They are dead. Now,the recipients of what are officially loans are liable to repay the money, and the tax liability thereof.
In addition,it puts SDM and other Rangers officials back in the frame.
The court has decreed that the evidence as presented is that the payments were loans.
If recipients have letters saying otherwise, then the person who signed those guarantees will be liable for the money-and for further court action.
Interesting times indeed.

Didn’t think Brown looked fit. He was immobile – thought we should have started with Commons instead, and also in hindsight Watt instead of Hooper.
Two big problems tonight: not enough mobility in the middle/front.
And shocking lack of ball retention.
Wilson was MOTM. The biggest improvement I have seen in a Celtic player in years.

Benfica were the better team no doubt about it , I think we have
to try and be more confident on our travels,, in my opinion we go
into our shells a wee bit and we lack the confidence to put our foot
on the ball and be brave in posession, maybe the head shrink that
the club is bringing in will help, anyways on to the last game at Celtic park
lets get right behind the bhoys the way we did against Barca and make it
Well beaten tonight , we didn’t cope with their wide men who kept us stretched and got in cross after cross.
We were under pressure in possession and unable to find an out ball.
Still have a home game to progress to last 16 which we would have taken at the start.
Need to focus on the weekend and play the bhoys who are fit – watt Lassad kayal to start?

Impressive movement & passing from benfica tonight, they are a decent side.
Our lack of composure & quality on the ball pretty blatant tonight. Zero link up play in their half, pretty disappointing. I don’t think samaras, brown or hooper looked fit enough and I think we missed a direct player like Forrest. Still, pretty solid at the back again.
We have another big game to come, hopefully a win at home should see us through. But already guaranteeing European football after Xmas is a massive achievement considering the group.

Underwhelming performance. First 10 minutes really amateurish. 1st goal an embarrassment. Settled ok after that. But, just ok. Creating very little from open play. It seemed that we were just looking to win the corners and FKs and threaten from there.
I’m sure you, like me, have been proud of the performance against Barca. Those friends who don’t support Celtic or even follow football no doubt spoke with you about it in the afterglow. It was a good week to be a Hoop.
However, the game tonight was worth exactly the same 3 points and a draw would have put us through. I think it was a poor decision to bring Hooper and Brown straight back in. Neither looked fit, particularly Brown. Can’t see how he passed a fitness test or full exam.
Tony Watt showed understandable naivety when he came on but shouldn’t let his head drop. A great prospect. Bit too much asked of him at such a late stage.
We got what we deserved really. Lets learn from it, beat Spartak and hope Barca be Barca. HH!

I was always hoping we would be in with a chance at our last home game and we still are, can’t see benfica getting anything in camp nou and i think it will be easier to plan for the game against moscow and clearer in the players minds WIN

Much as I like Tony Watt, and I would have him in starting 11 for SPL games, I would have Miku ahead of him for CL games. Watt was naive a couple of times, the positive is he is in the positions to be naive, but Miku would be a better option to link up and retain possession. Likewise Commons, would always find a place for him as he’s a clever player who keeps possession, brings other into the game and wins free kicks
