Celtic playing european football after christmas was not to be expected two months ago,
we are now guaranteed that now ,whats not to like.!
Experianced Gamblers know to look to the future, and not to expect a quick return on their investment.
the experiance these young players are getting at the moment, money cant buy.
Stop looking for the quick fix, we are playing against top bang for buck players,in turn will which will put us in good stead for the next three /four years guaranteed champions league, all be it qualifiers.
I see their worth, and so can Neil, back the bhoys,we are punching above our weight, but gaining invaluable experiance,
Barca will win in camp nou, and so will Celtics 12 men on 5th Dec

Pardon me for lowering the tone, but I see Chris Moyles (some kind of disc jockey, I’m told) asked to have a tax tribunal dealing with his tax avoidance arrangements held in private.
Something to do with his human rights.
He got his arse judicially kicked
#######
The judge refused Mr Moyles’s application, stating that there was an “obvious public interest” in keeping tax cases public.
“The fact that a taxpayer is rich, or that he is in the public eye, does not seem to me to dictate a different approach,” he said.
“On the contrary, it may be that hearing the appeal of such a person in private would give rise to the suspicion … that riches or fame can buy protection from the scrutiny which others cannot avoid.”
Benfica deserved to win but we could have stolen a draw at the end if Commons and Tony had passed instead of shooting.
Injuries are killing this team of ours.
Broonie probably out to next season, Izzy a few weeks yet and to top it all big Vic out against Spartak.
Still fancy us to get through.

European football guaranteed after Christmas – if it is to be the EL that’s fine; if it’s the CL then even better.
We did not play well tonight but we should all be proud of what this squad of players have achieved already in Europe this season.
I’m an optimist and still think we will finish 2nd in the group.
Another fantastic night in store for the Spartak match!
HH!!

We need a win in the last game. Spartak cannot avoid finishing last. They like Barca will be playing for pride only but for different reasons.
Celtic Park will be a cauldron of noise. Can Spartak cope?
Will Barca’s pride allow themselves to be beaten at the Nou Camp?
I think there is real room for optimism that we will qualify.

1st year in the CL with this group, very good progress. Lack of sharpness at this level with a few ghuys coming back from or carrying knocks. Decent shift , no complaints about the result.
Next game will be tough and we have to assume that a win will be needed.

I must admit I thought we would start with Sammi as lone striker with Commons or Kayal for Hooper

Starry – I’m offering an opinion of what Barca may do based on living here in Spain for 9 years and being surrounded by Barca diehard fans and a media that is obsessed by them. That is their likely scenario – no need to risk their top players for a meaningless game. They have finished in top spot. If they do rest some of the stars then the ones that get a shot will be desperate to shine so the expectation would be still to win. All I said is it gives Benfica a chance that they probably wouldn’t have got otherwise.
praecepta on
Think we kicked off with 3/4 players under par (match fit).
That said – we were really only in it for 15-20mins – on reflection the better team won.
However we are still in Europe with a home game v Spartak to decide which competition we ultimately play in. Barca don’t do losing at home – irrespective of their position and the competition – I expect them to deal with Benfica (win or draw).
Ball retention (and 11 fit players) should be sufficient for us to get a result at CP – a win would give us 10 points.
How many of us would have forecast that before we kicked off the section games?
Ask yourself a question – would you rather be in our position (with a game to go) – or a top EPL side like; Chelski, Man City or Arsenal (tomorrow night) – mega-money and top players and looking at failure to make the last 16??
Totally shown up tonight,if were going to lose the likes of Wanyama and other players in future like Forster amongst a load of other potentials then the money needs invested in players with CL experience and quality otherwise whats the point?

Agree re. the possibility of using Ambrose at CM. Brown and Wanyama are crucial to so many of our best central midfields, but it wouldn’t do any harm to take another look at Ambrose and Kayal there, hopefully in a slightly more taxing game than v Raith Rovers.
It’s a pity Ledley seems to have reverted to his timid showings of 2010, while Kayal’s gone all wayward on us. An improvement from these bhoys in the next couple of weeks would be perfect timing.

PF Ayr. Too soon to say on Barcelona. I will keep a close eye.
If they were to lose in the build-up to the Benfica game, it would do our hopes no harm. Two defeats in quick succession would go down very badly.
They have three domestic matches between now and then.
Away to Levante in the league, at home to Alavés in the cup (a second leg; Barcelona won the first leg 0-3, so a good day to rest some people), and then at home to Bilbao in the league on the Saturday night.
Also, Puyol might be back by then. David Villa will fancy a proper run out in the CL. Wee Messi is going for Gerd Muller’s scoring record. He has five goals to go. A wee drought between now and Benfica would be good.
Lots to look out for.

Forrest should be back for Spartak game and whilst he’s had a bit of a stop/start season so far his pace is a huge asset in eurpopean games. Could Izzy be back?

Bayern looking good – they should have won it last season and are looking top drawer again. German winners at Wembley . . .
My youngest the wee man is gutted
Told him will be sweeter when we win at home in a fortnight against Spartak
and we are in our usual seats up in 443 to go through.
ps He was there when we beat Spartak on penalties when he was 8
pps Were the famous Glasgow Celtic and were off to Wembley
ppps Any huns on you cheated if only Ally could have beat Malmo ce la vie
No complaints, Benfica deserved the win.
In hindsight, brown was a mistake and the nerves got the better of a number of our guys, but this young team will learn so much from that.
We have already exceed expectations in this campaign,
stand up for the fans…..superb!

No they didn’t.
We are a 4th Pot side who have qualified at least for EL football after Xmas
In doing so, we have usurped a Spartak side which cost considerably more than ours to assemble
We are in with a 50/50 chance of knocking out a Benfica side (Pot 2) which again cost a hell of a whole lot more than ours to bring together
Lenny + the Bhoys have done magnificently so far. Pride should be bursting out of everyone who has Celtic in their heart
