  1. VFR800 is now a Monster 821 on

To be honest it’s pretty much what I expected. 10 men behind the ball.

We need to wear them down. At times they have 9 players defending in the penalty area. That’s very difficult to break down.

Keep the ball and probe for the openings and they will come.

McGhee has been irritating, spent 95% of the first half talking up Morton. A lot of our failings on show here though….laboured build up, players taking too many touches on the ball, sloppy passing Level with or even behind the player rather than a ball to run on to, poor crosses.

Jamesie and Rogic look sharper than the rest ,Sinky is not just a shadow of last years player, he is a shadow of a shadow who just can’t wait to get rid of the ball.

    Paddy and Charly time surely.

  3. Comperr- looks to have good pass/technique on him, especially as it’s his first game for a while, looks promising.

Rogic -started quietly but felt his way into the game and showed his quality on occasions. Still to reach peak sharpness imo.

Forrest- looks lively and dangerous, trying to be direct when in possession.

Moussa- touch and decision making as good as it’s been for a while.

Credit to an organised Morton team for limiting our chances, Harkins their stand out player.

Confident we’ll get the goals second half, our players looked pretty sharp in their passing but faced a compact defense.

  4. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

Rarely has meeting a fella for the first time filled me with trepidation as when Jim Devine said he planned to attend a hoot.

Could be quite withering in his disappointment, could Jim.

And as I’ve said previously,on meeting him I instantly wished I’d met him a long time before!

That’s one of the beauties of Paul’s baby. Instead of seeing occasional familiar faces-I’m sure I saw him three weeks ago!-large numbers of us have got to know each other for real.

I met Jim a few times after that. As did my Dad and my sisters. An absolute gentleman, and someone who I wish I had known long enough for him to consider as a friend rather than an acquaintance.

    R I P Jim.

  5. Looks like a game for Paddy’s trickery. Fair play to Morton they are well organised & working their socks off.

Whilst defending in depth they looked handy enough on their few forays forward.

Certainly wouldn’t like to fall a goal behind in this game.

  6. I think we’re doing alright here against a packed defence. Moussa’s header cleared off the line after great play. Tom Rogic’s couple of efforts saved at the post. Rogic and Forrest have the creativity to open them up. Gary Harkins is a really good player and we need to watch him at set pieces. As long as we’re not slack at the back we should win this.

  7. Very much the Celtic of the rest of the season. Quite happy to play across the back four and side to side in midfield, with little or no creativity to open up a tight and well organised defence.

Forrest, Rogic, looking most likely to open up the defence on the right. Scott Sinclar still showing little confidence to go past an opponent, and still well out of form. Thought today might habe been a chance for him to get some confidence back, but not so far. We could do with finding the real SS before next weeks game.

Not troubled too much defensively, other than a slack pass from Compper very early on.

Edouard coming on for Sinclair apparently.

  8. Matt Stewart on

Jim Duffy won the tactical battle. His Championship team are acquiring themselves really while our addiction to passing the ball backwards is starting to really pish aff those around me. On the bright side, the water which was frozen at the beginning of the game seems to be back on…but not in the bogs so no hand washing. You can however have a wee cup of lukewarm bovril…possibly piped from the urinals for the bargain price (or corporate fraud) of £2.30.

    Hail hail

  9. Sounds dire again, we are to slow when we move the ball forward and teams that sit deep cause us difficultly because we are predictable with sideway passes. Takes 10 passes to get to the halfwit line ffs, sort it out!!!

can we get the wide players to drive forward at pace at their man, can we get the ball into the box from said area as quickly as possible and can we get the players to shoot from 25 yards when its on!!!

  10. VFR800

It’s not difficult to put 10 men behind the ball when your opponent takes ages to move the ball upfield.

Fed up hearing us moan about opponents having ten men behind the ball so no space to work when it is a direct consequence of our slow possession based system.

We have superior players limited by a coaching system that has been sussed so far this season.

I agree possession is important but its been prioritised over everything else creating a shot shy team struggling for goals.

  11. Fan-a-tic

100% correct tactics have let us down, i am all for passing football but more often than not we turn back and accoss the pitch when the attach its on, we need to be more direct when the space is there to use, sxxx

  12. Much better start to second half. Playing with more urgency and moving the ball forward more quickly. Creating chances, which our forwards really should be doing better with.

Why has it taken 45 minutes ( in this game) to show some urgency going forward ?

  13. Ps Eduard is never getting signed by us so what is the point in giving him a game ffs
