CONFIRMED: BAIN IN, BROWN OUT, BARKAS MYSTERY

SCOTT BAIN returns to the Celtic goal for the crucial Premiership game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the midday kick-off.

Vasilis Barkas, the club’s most expensive keeper at the £4.5million he cost when he arrived from AEK Athens, makes way after some poor recent displays.

The Greek international created a bit of a mystery by not being named on the substitutes’ bench with Connor Hazard on stand-by duty. Barkas took a knock in a heavy collision with Shane Duffy at  the Italians third goal and may have been ruled out through injury.

Bain has not played in the league side since the Flag Day 5-1 win over Hamilton Accies at Parkhead on August 2.

The Scotland international keeper is one of four changes from the line-up that lost 3-1 to AC Milan in the Europa League Group H encounter in Glasgow on Thursday night. Ryan Christie and Tom Rogic come in for skipper Scott Brown and Leigh Griffiths, the pair starting on the bench.

Aussie ace Rogic replaced the Hoops captain in the 64th minute against the Serie A pacesetters while Christie came on at the interval for Griffiths.

Stephen Welsh also makes way for Jeremie Frimpong to start in the No.2 slot.

TEAM: Bain; Frimpong, Duffy, Ajer, Laxalt; Christie, Rogic, Ntcham, McGregor; Ajeti, Elyounoussi. Subs: Hazard, Taylor, Brown, Griffiths, Klimala, Soro, Turnbull, Ralston, Welsh.
