This is the last day to complete our survey into who we, the Celtic community, are, our thoughts, values and where we came from. It’s a short, anonymous, survey, with questions on the Living Wage, the Offensive Behaviour Act, Resolution 12 and other topics, including your view on last week’s referendum.
Thousands of people have already taken part so we will have an excellent insight into what the Celtic community looks like in 2014. If you’ve not already participated, you can let your voice be heard here.
A European academic has compiled the survey and we’ll publish findings shortly.
It’s refreshing to hear a manager be frank about a sporting forgone conclusion, as Ronny did yesterday, “we are definitely going to win the league”. More importantly, he added “The goal is the treble”.
For reasons which have never been evident, apart from Jock Stein’s first five seasons, and a gloriously sunny day in 1957, Celtic have underachieved on a massive scale in the League Cup, a trophy we haven’t won in the last five seasons.
It’s maybe been seen as too much of a poor-relation when the team have higher targets in mind, but it’s more accurate to say we have been an ill-prepared soft touch since Jock’s five-in-a-row came to an end. Superior performances in the Scottish Cup suggest there is more than the randomness of cup football at play in the League trophy.
I never understood the criticisms of Neil Lennon for his ‘failure’ to win the treble. We achieved this feat only three times in our history. Even when we won the league, the vast majority of times we failed to win both cups was as a result of defeat to someone other than Rangers, so their liquidation in 2012 should not affect the trend.
Ronny is three games away from his first trophy as a Celtic manager; he will be hot favourite for each of them. On paper, the Scottish Cup will present no more danger, but winning two cups takes a level of consistency that even the great [and consistent]Celtic teams struggled to achieve.
Before we consider the treble we need to find consistency in the league and Europa League, starting with wins and clean sheets against St Mirren and Dinamo Zagreb. If we can do this, this could yet be a memorable season.
Remember the survey closes tonight!

Is the Ryder cup available anywhere???
Last weekend was the 1st time I had heard the GB live.Fantastic to hear and watch.
Just a wee point on VVD.Just cant see where the criticism is coming from.Thought he was totally in cruise control the whole game.He seems to have a few gear changes.
I know he will go,and maybe good Man U are struggling.Should up his price considerably.
A fantastic footballer.Instead of knitpicking, enjoy the boy while you still can.
Heard all this before with Hay,Macari,Kenny,Hooper, etc. As soon as they want to go to better themselves, they become so much more poorer players with the support.

High likelihood of early evening pass on Tues 7th if you fancy a couple in,say,BV?

Plus 1.
Or should that be plus four? :)

Sounds good. Will phone Tbm and see if that’s OK with him too
Me neither BT. What is the point of posters on a Celtic Supporters Site, telling us they plan to watch the golf instead of the football. If they do well that is their choice but why tell the rest of us, what the hell do we care.

what he said 2nd
Like the rest of you, I’m hoping for a more consistent run of form from Ronny’s Celtic. Sadly, I don’t see that happening any time soon.
Nothing has changed for me since Ronny’s first game. Despite placatory noises about gradual change, he and Collins instantly tore up the Lenny 4-3-1-2 template and imposed this rigid 4-2-3-1 system, relying on high tempo & pressing, with Johansen dotting about like a blue-arsed version of Ronny’s representative on earth.
We have yet to see a dominating, composed central midfield from any of the candidates available. No sooner is the ball won than it is given away – it appears that the Deila/Collins theory runs thus – if we’re ready for the ball to break sooner than our opponents, we’ll capitalize. The only problem with this theory is that the same thought will be going through the heads of our opponents.
We also do not possess a proper number 10 for this formation. Commons does his best, but is too slow and has too few options available around him if he wants to pass/lay the ball off. He is an intelligent, gifted player wasted in the wrong system, of which there are more examples all around the team.
I still hope for the best, but watching Celtic can be a chore at the moment. Ronny is blessed with an embarrassment of riches, and is so far squandering that resource for the sake of imposing a system that is a couple of transfer windows short of success.
A great article, one I’d say everyone who attends games should read.

I delightfully took my seat for the Hearts game midweek, grateful to see a game at Paradise rather than down south on the telly.
Based on that game plus all the rest I’ve seen on TV, we are going to struggle to win the league this year.
I don’t subscribe to the view that the league is a foregone conclusion, by a long way. We are wide open at the back and present opponents with far too many chances
Until our team sort out our defensive situation, all talk of league wins and trebles is fantasy.
Am I the only one thinking this way?

TBM probably a non-starter. No doubt he will explain.
Hoping to catch him at least once.
Probably on ‘his’ turf…
PS Hoops over Ryder Cup every time!!

Lost many a ball which should have been in the middle of the fourth fairway due to they wee scamps! Battered by the locals? No violence in G21

Is this about the hamilton game… Was the hamilton game supposed to be 3pm kick off ?
Thought it might have been brought forward to help irish/english based fans get home earlier.
Wasnt aware of the run to be honest.

Thanks. Is this Ryder cup channel available anywhere if you don’t have sky sports. Mmmmm
The izzy / stokes partnership down the left has to be tried once more. The only change I would make today is bring Wakaso in on the right hand side, and rest McGregor, who has been poor the last 3 – 4 matches

It’s partly to do with the Hamilton game. If it was to help out the travelling fans why not announce it weeks ago, the club have been aware for weeks that the game was to be played on the sunday.
Those that are taking part in and have supported the charity event next weekend must be a little p”’ed off at the clubs decision to change the kickoff time at short notice.

I was at the Gleneagles yesterday
and bumped into Mr Dermot Desmond who was
an absolute gent.
He seemed much more at home with the golfing fraternity
than he does with Celtic.

We should have held our AGM there then . Some power when he can treat one of the greatest clubs in world football as a trinket . No time for the fellow .
