Doncaster Newco proposal doesn’t get the votes

451

An SPL general meeting today passed several less-significant Financial Fair Play rules (pay your taxes and players) but did not approve a proposal from chief executive, Neil Doncaster, that a mechanism should be introduced to parachute a Newco into the top division in Scottish football for the first time in history.

It would have taken 8 votes to see this controversial proposal pass, which it clearly didn’t get.  The SPL reserves the right to vote a Newco in at any point in the future, but those hoping to buy the assets of Rangers were not issued a ticket to the SPL today.

Surprised?

Perhaps connected to the above matter….  The SPL board will this afternoon consider issues relating to allegations Rangers rigged the system for over a decade with dual contracts.

There are too many permutations for me to digest these developments with any accuracy. At first pass, the news appears to be on the upside of what I was expecting earlier in the day.

If the CVA fails as most seem to think, can the creditors block any attempt by D&P to act as liquidators or indeed as the overseer of the CVA if accepted?

It is interesting that all 12 clubs now want a say on Newco.

MWD challenged Doncaster on this issue earlier this year see

    http://kerrydalestreet.co.uk/topic/8658278/2/#new

It suggests that ster’s preferred position of a 6 man Board voting (read the Spoiler on Page 1) on the KDS topic has now bitten the dust.

The ongoing battle that Barcabhoy (and Paul) has spoken to is to prevent individual issues being dealt with salami slice fashion by Doncaster and wait for the full picture to emerge to make an informed judgement with an informed and defensible punishment.,

If you read the exchanges from earlier this year on the KDS topic you will see that Doncaster has been doing his best to contain this issue in order to keep Rangers in the SPL.

Rangers’s behaviour since then and the feedback from supporters to their Chairmen has defeated Doncaster in terms of his plan A. The next bampot endeavour (apologies to Baracbhoy and Paul) is to have all charges considered before any Newco decision is made.

Today’s decsion to treat each case on its merits suggests the bampots are winning.

  23. A lot of talk about Annan Athletic on here – but maybe we shouldn’t be so patronising towards them. Anna Athletic field a reserve team (something the great Glasgow Celtic seem incapable of) and also an U19s. Their reserves play in the SFL Reserve League Cup section West – 10 games plus playoffs. Surely a Club like ours could find a league who would accept our Reserve team on a competitive basis? EPL? English football league reserves? A reduced SPL reserve league on a voluntary basis (would probably attract about 6 or 7 clubs). The fact that the wee clubs have a league and the SPL doesn’t just about sums up the shambolic state of scottish football.

  24. Petrichor ( the smell of rain after a dry spell of weather)

Petrichor ( /ˈpɛtrɨkər/) is the scent of rain on dry earth. The word is constructed from Greek, petra, meaning stone + ichor, the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology.

The term was coined in 1964 by two Australian researchers, Bear and Thomas, for an article in the journal Nature.[1] In the article, the authors describe how the smell derives from an oil exuded by certain plants during dry periods, whereupon it is absorbed by clay-based soils and rocks. During rain, the oil is released into the air along with another compound, geosmin, producing the distinctive scent. In a follow-up paper, Bear and Thomas (1965) showed that the oil retards seed germination and early plant growth.[2]
