‘DUNDEE ROW HAS TOUGHENED ME UP,’ BAIN

SCOTT BAIN is hoping to make the most of the escape from his Tayside hell to Paradise.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper agreed a loan deal from Dundee during the week that will see him play out the remaining months of the season with Celtic.

And Bain, who will be a free agent in the summer, wants to persuade Brendan Rodgers to make the move permanent.

The shotstopper had a bitter behind-the-scenes fall-out with Dens Park boss Neil McCann that saw him forced to train on his own and made to sit as an unused sub in the club’s Under-20s after playing his last first team game in October.

Hibs moved to take him on loan last month before the champions swooped on Wednesday evening and Bain believes McCann cut off his nose to spite his face.

He said: “I think it does. It just shows these two clubs believe in me – two of the top four teams in the country.

“When the champions are interested in me, it just shows the qualities I can bring to a club.

“I don’t think I’ll be back at Dundee. My focus is here, on loan for the rest of the season. I’ll do whatever I can to make this a permanent move when I’m a free agent.

“Looking back, what happened at Dundee is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me in my whole football career because I’ve ended up here.

“It was a tough couple of months at Dundee, but, to be honest, it has stood me in good stead mentally.

“It toughened me up and showed me how strong I could be as a character to get through that.

“I was delighted to sign for Hibs and it’s another step to now join Celtic.”
