Ethics, Fifa, support for Beram

823

Remember when Barcelona were regarded as the model of an ethical football club?    I don’t know if it’s just every time I see Tumbling Neymar that I feel a little less affinity with brand Barca but that image has proven to be a mirage.

The clubs tax affairs, specifically over compensation to Lionel Messi, brought it into more disrepute than could be compensated for by the ethically immaculate (cough) ‘Qatar’ emblazoned across their shirts.  Tax is not just for the wee guys.

Now Fifa (you know you have issues when these guys can get moralistic with you) have banned the club from signing players for the next two transfer windows and a fine of 450k Swiss francs after investigations into the signing of 10 foreign minors over the period 2009-2013.  Their accomplices, the Spanish FA, were fined 500 Swiss francs for their role in the episode.

We’ll see if the Spanish FA have the equivalent of What-school-did-you-go-to Ogilvie in charge, who is able to arbitrarily change which transfer windows the ban applies to, in order to assist the club.

Speaking of Ogilvie, after leaving now-liquidated Rangers he continued his work at Hearts, who administrator Bryan Jackson yesterday admitted were themselves facing liquidation.  Ogilvie had a legal responsibility for Rangers during the period they introduced the ruinous EBT scam, some of which was found to be illegal during the First Tier Tribunal, the remainder of which is currently subject to an Upper Tribunal deliberation.

Indeed, the man, who remains president of the SFA, pocketed a £93k EBT, but he can claim no credit for the liquidation of Hearts, which was brought about by the liquidation of the club’s shareholders and lenders.  If there were two clubs in the whole world you would ask karma to liquidate……….

Before you react to this acknowledged possibility, check, are you a fan, or player and fan?  If you are a fan, feel free to proclaim the situation loudly.  If you are player and fan, stop.  The SFA don’t want you proclaiming an acknowledged possibility, as though you were a fan.  Hearts are going bust, but the only man in football allowed to say this is the Hearts administrator.

I see a bit of push-back against Beram Kayal, which is harsh.  After a very promising start Beram is increasingly out of the picture at Celtic and needs to construct a narrative for himself and potential future employers.  Everything he said was almost certainly true: he was ‘done’ by Lee McCulloch, leaving him with a poor first-hand experience of our game.  Why would he retain a love for a league which is offers him nothing?

The comments about Liverpool and Manchester United showing an interest in him prior to his injury tells you lots about how the game works.  Promising, though he was, he was never in this class, but all clubs watch hundreds of players every year.  I see no reason why his agent would be unable to get Beram scouted by a couple of top English clubs.  This would have been reported to the player, but should not be confused as being a qualified interest.

Just catching up with you query to me.

I am open to correction on this one.

As far as I am aware, Celtic regarded it as a matter of concern and possibly even discipline when an employee, Anthony Stokes, in his own time, in another country, attended a memorial service for a close family friend who happened to be a member of a proscribed organisation.

I have no intention of getting into the whys and wherefores of dubious organisations.

If I remember correctly it was around about the time that Stokes’ father was on the receiving end of some heavy handed attention from the Dublin government.

As I say I am open to correction.

The problem with UKIP and the BNP, is, that even if I sympathised with their policies, which I don’t, but even if I did, I wouldn’t believe them.

UKIP and the BNP need the bogeymen that comes from immigration so as to enact their policies as if people stopped thinking of the scare stories, as is partly the case in Scotland as Scotland actually needs more people as the critical mass in many of Scotland’s town and cities is not big enough to sustain a town centre economy, e.g. Paisley, Clydebank.

Out of town shopping centres are a large factor in these town centre’s demise but is not the whole reason, basically, just as in Scottish Football, there aren’t enough people to sustain them.

UKIP like the BNP like every other party, are in it for themselves, what separates them is the even more dangerous social policies they would put forward at the expense of the working class of all communities.

UKIP are the BNP in Mr Byrite suits.

It bothers me the amount of time they are given in political forums like Question Time and Any Questions.

This protest group is 20 years old. They have never had an MP. The reason for that is they only have one policy and most people could not care less about their insecure world.

    I agree

the reason they’re there is because of lab/tory complicity in their being there

Given that lab/tory don’t share a forum with Eck in 2014 and didn’t in 2011, 2012 or 2013 while Eck and his party had a majority in Scotland, yet are prepared to have two debates with UKIP

    Again

    I agree

Lib/Lab/Tory are not interested in democracy just as UKIP and the BNP are not.

  8. For the record, Elbows is one of the biggest thugs and shitebags I have ever seen play the game, the kind of player when the game is played by men he is nowhere to be found, because it is a mans game. Wee Elbows trudges off the park because he does not know how to play a mans game.

Beram has my full support wherever he goes, he went through a string of injuries starting with the Elbows challenge, which was not a fifty-fifty btw. Elbows was lining him up steps before Beram seen him.

Beram was also unfortunate to suffer these injuries at a time when we had Vic who was in the ascendancy at Parkhead.

I haven’t read the article yet but, if you are leaving us Beram I wish you all the best

It seemed so simple as well, ask the guys on CQN about the trophy I thought. They’ll know.

It was the Beggin’ Bears Cup. Seems they lost during the mini-riot they held (in the toilets of Celtic Park) during the last ever old firm game to be played in recorded history. They seemed to be mistaken though, as that cup resides in Police Scotlands evidence room where it was taken for finger print analysis by PC Prod.

Thanks yes, I remember talk of that now, though I do not know precisely what if any action, Celtic took.

Celtic like to portray employee (and fan) behaviour as the complete antithesis of their former rivals, to such an extent it borders on paranoia, because of a rancid governing body, not to mention a hostile MSM.

Whether it be singing the obvious (Leigh Griffiths) or attending a funeral with a link to Irish Republicanism, IMHO they get it wrong, and the ‘standard’ of behaviour is outwith their jurisdiction, on any possible level of employee misconduct, or any employee’s terms and conditions.

I think Celtic would be better served if they communicated in the major issues like the basis for a Resolution 12 for example, and didn’t bother telling us petty stuff like we’ll defend Leigh Griffiths, because we’ve already fined him, and apologised.

I would be surprised if the referee who was blamed for taking the money under the table would confirm this to the journalist who made a phone call. Would you not? And how the allegations that were made yesterday or day before can be proven today? AS for the facts, the player did not speak to the Russian newspaper, he gave this interview to the Norwegian paper. There you are wrong.

Erik Hagen who made allegations, did not speak about only third part involved. He blamed himself for giving money from his own pocket for bribes for the referees. What interest would he have in telling lies and putting himself into this scandal?

  13. Quite a few on here are expressing doubts about renewing next season because of a complete lack of trust in the SFA , the SPFL and the preferential treatment given to Sevco. Would it not be better if those of us who feel that way acted together? Celtic would certainly be more likely to respond to a group action than any individual disgruntlement. It would, of course, need a good man to organise.
