FORMER Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson is set to leave Serie A Hellas Verona on loan and drop down a division.

The ex-Scotland Under-21 playmaker, who had loan spells at Rosenborg and Hibs while he was at Parkhead, has found it difficult to get a settled run since the team stepped up at the conclusion of their successful previous campaign.

Now, according to a report in the Daily Record, Henderson is pondering a switch to Perugia in Serie B to get some game time.

The 23-year-old has not started a game since the start of September and hasn’t featured at all since coming on as a substitute against Inter Milan in November.

Perugia are keen to lure the Scot to aid progress during the second half of the term. They are in eighth place and are under new management after Serse Cosmi took charge 16 years after his first spell as manager at the club

Coincidentally, Liam’s brother Euan is also on a temporary transfer at the moment after leaving the Hoops for Ross County on a season-long deal.
