FORMER Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan is poised to sign a short-term contract with Queen’s Park.

The much-travelled hitman, who had four years at Parkhead after breakthrough in 2006, was released by Inverness Caley Thistle last month and is ready to sign for their Championship rivals until the end of the season.

Sheridan, who will celebrate his 35th birthday on Friday, has been training with Callum Davidson’s squad and could be signed in time to make his debut against Dundee United at Tannadice on Saturday, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.
The energetic hitman, who earned three caps for the Republic of Ireland, made his last appearance for the Highlanders against the Tayside club last month.
Sheridan, who scored four goals in 14 league appearances for the Hoops, has been a football nomad since leaving the champions and has played in six different countries. He moved to Bulgaria to join CSKA Sofia when he left Celtic.
He has also appeared for Motherwell, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Dundee.
