‘DISRESPECTFUL,’ CLEMENT IN RODGERS RANT

CELTIC’S countdown to the title has become even more interesting following an astonishing rant by Ibrox boss Philippe Clement aimed at Brendan Rodgers.

The Belgian watched his side toil for over an hour against 10-man Kilmarnock before claiming two late goals in a 4-1 home win that cut the champions’ lead at the Premiership pinnacle to three points.

With only three games to play, Rangers are due at Parkhead on Saturday where a victory for the hosts will all but seal their third successive crown and their twelfth in 13 years.

SHOUT OF ORDER…Philippe Clements yells instructions to his players.

The pressure would appear to be mounting on Clement as he responded to a throwaway line from Rodgers following Celtic’s convincing three-goal triumph over Hearts in the east end of Glasgow. Looking ahead to the visit of Clement and Co, the Irishman remarked: “We can have a bit of fun.”

The comment certainly irked the Govan gaffer and provoked a bizarre response.
Clement observed: “That it is something that I would never say about an opponent.
“But, okay, we will see. It’s not really respectful towards my team. That is what I think, so I will never say things like that about an opponent.
“I am looking forward to the game and, to be honest as a manager, I would love that it was tomorrow instead of next week – but that is maybe not so good for my players.”
Clement, speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s victory over a Killie team forced to play with 10 men for over 70 minutes after the early red card for Joe Wright, added: “We are really hungry for that game.
“Six months ago, we were seven points behind and now we are three points behind and we can go equal.
“The team has already done a lot of steps and now it is about making the next step.
”The team did that already several times and they know they can do it.
“We will go on with that mindset until the last second of the season.”
