FIVE-STAR JURANOVIC

JOSIP JURANOVIC, who was rested ahead of Celtic’s loss to St Mirren at the weekend, played the entire 90 minutes in Croatia’s dramatic 2-1 win over Denmark last night.

The right-back was outstanding as his country went to the top of UEFA Nations League A Group 1 following a thrilling encounter in Zagreb.

Juranovic and Co had to rely on a goal 11 minutes from time from substitute Lovro Majer to gain all three points after Christian Eriksen had levelled just a couple of minutes earlier.

NATIONAL TREASURE…Josip Juranovic celebrates a Croatia victory.

Defender Borna Sosa opened the scoring four minutes into the second-half, slotting past Kasper Schmeichel from the edge of the area, according to a report in Reuters.

Manchester United midfielder Eriksen equalised with a superb dipping shot in the 77th minute, but that was wiped out with Major’s clincher.

Luka Modric, the Real Madrid playmaker who turned in a Man of the Match performance in the Spaniards’ 3-0 win in the Champions League at Parkhead 17 days ago, was strangely subdued and was replaced in the fading moments.

Juranovic now faces a match against bottom side Austria, who lost 2-0 to France in Paris, as Croatia round off their group games on Sunday.

He is likely to take his usual No.2 slot when the champions return to Premiership action with the visit of Motherwell a week tomorrow.
