“Frustration” was apparently the order of the day for Celtic as Newcastle’s Leon Best decided against moving on loan for the remainder of the season, despite his club being happy to see him go, while a gaggle of other target-men were apparently courted. Frustration; really?
We have Hooper, Stokes and Pawel Brozek fighting for no more than two forward spots, with Moh Bangura still waiting for his first proper run in the team and Georgios Samaras regularly drifting to the striker role from the left. Different formations also call for only one striker with a creative central player, such as Forrest, Commons or maybe Rabiu Ibrahim.
Hooper and Stokes are both playing well, scoring regularly and will be difficult for Brozek to dislodge, not to mention Bangura. Best, who is neither show-biz nor a player guaranteed to score a barrel-load, would either be this year’s Freddie Ljungberg, or if successful, would be improving his own development at the expense of a contracted Celtic player.
I’m as frustrated as I was the day we lost Marc-Antoine Fortune.

That does not prove that he used that money to buy the huns. He is already on record as disputing that.
If he and Ellis have another source of money they could/should have used that to avoid paying VAT.
The only game that is being played here is Public relations.
The entire skirmish is about perception of the public in who actually slit hun throat. Who was responsible .. even if it just a case of diminishing that responsibility
The old regime remain in denial about their role in that and when the tax case judgement finally arrives and Rangers are still a breathing entity then Craig Whyte will have flummoxed them all. They never thought it possible.
All of them and I include Bain, Smith wanted the hun dead before the tax case to save their bosses bacon.
Ally was either not in on it or was playing stupid … the contract that Bain gave him was more than worth it.

This isn’t a pillar bank filled with peoples savings which would cause untold misery if allowed to fail.
It’s a pathetic sectarian cesspool run by egomaniacs and shady tax dodgers (depending on who you blame more).
Where would they have the moral authority to save a company who has cheated the tax man of 49 million pounds?
What sort of message would it send to the rest of the football and business community in Scotland or the wider UK?
And if they are saved it will surely be the greatest opportunity for Celtic to go to UEFA and say “LET US GET OUT OF SCOTLAND!! a club which has cheated their way to titles and gone bust because of it, has just been saved by the government!! There is no level playing field in the SPL we want out of here now!!”
I’d like to hear UEFA’s counter argument to that!

It’s that time of season though when teams will ‘park the bus’ and a striker who can simply bounce CB off him – if only to make space for others — becomes a pragmatic option.

I think we have plenty of options for strikers now.
Having more, would just mean more unhappy players not getting a game, which wouldnt be good for team moral.
I really like the look of the team, and our back up.
Assuming we get to keep who we want in the summer, I would think there will be more outgoing traffic than incoming, which will be equally´frustrating´……….

Apart from that is it not directly against UEFAs ruling that national govt/courts should not become involved with football? UEFA would bar Scotland/Scottish clubs from entering their competitions. The govt definitely would not want that on their hands.

I must admit I’ve been concentrating mainly on the ole Musk Oxettes, and have lost track a bit with what’s being happenin’ in the crazy world of pop, feat S.Cowell, Steps,AC/DC etc etc.
I wouldn’t bank on the Scottish Government bailing the huns out. Salmond has a referendum to win and he would surely see that one as a vote loser.
He is far more likely to call it a failure of the UK’s tax regime or a vindictive act by the London based HMRC. And it would all be different in a independent Scotland of course.
I don’t think Spiers’ comment re government should be taken seriously. Desperation stuff. The real focus needs to be on how the media campaign to allow a newco huns straight into the SPL will develop : “Scottish football needs a healthy rangers”; “Scottish football will die without rangers”; etc etc etc. We need to scrutinise SPL and SFA very closely over the coming weeks and months (maybe days – that would be fun !!)

Have to agree with this analysis.
I think Lennon has to learn that we don’t need this ‘take the bumps’ type player, it is wholly unsuited to the way we play the game. I’d rather recall Daryl Murphy than pay someone else for the priviledge.
We have Commons and Sammy on the left and Brown and Forrest on the right supporting 3 or 4 strikers. We have less than 20 games to go over 3 and a bit months, hardly congested!
