Frustrations for what could have been

779

There are frustrations for what could have been.  Leipzig did not have us under great pressure at any time in the game, but concentration dropped for three minutes, which settled the outcome.

I initially blamed Dedryck for the opening goal, but on second viewing, the incident was more nuanced.  Eboue Kouassi almost got a touch on the ball, meaning Dedryck waited on the second ball instead of attacking the cross.  Eboue himself only reacted when the Leipzig attacker nearest the right wing failed to get a touch on the ball.

Cristian Gamboa went to ground and didn’t get near the ball for the cross leading to the second goal.  Unforgiveable, but we are parachuting a player into a high level of football when his annual game time is measured in dozens of minutes.

Despite defeats in Germany and Austria, Celtic are not out of contention.  Leipzig are nowhere near as good as Salzburg.  We have beaten better teams than them at a packed Celtic Park.  Get a win next time out, or even a draw, and the remaining fixtures favour us.

By the time we go to Trondheim, Rosenborg will be out of the tournament.  Salzburg end the group at Celtic Park, when they will have already have top spot confirmed, and want to avoid injuries, suspensions and hopefully be keen to give experience to squad players.

I have spoken highly of Jozo for years, but the sight of him leaving the field on a stretcher after going down holding his ankle confirmed any remaining doubt about how appropriate his physical frame is for competitive sport.

Was Brendan resting players with an eye on Sunday?  It looks like it.  Mikael made an appearance from the bench, while Filip Benkovic was also fit enough for the bench.  If these two only have one game in them this week, the semi-final at Murrayfield is the wise choice.

    Aye, your right.

Winter is here….at least in Aberdeen it is. A light covering of snow on the roof of the car this morning, although it may just be congealed hailstones. Bliddy cauld though.

    Jobo,

Avast do a good free security service. Pretty basic, but i’ve used it for a few years and never had any problems. They do offer a more comprehensive service for a subscription, but I’ve never used it so have no idea if it’s expensive or not. Worth a look.

We need to watch that McLean character that Hearts signed from St Johnstone , tomoorrow.

He’s a perfect fit for Levein’s favoured type of player , sleekit, sneaky , leaves his foot in when he tackles and constantly whines to the ref. He was one of the four St Johnstone players who did not applaud our players onto the pitch in our last game of the 2012/13 season.

He is almost on a par with Lafferty and Naismith when it comes to ridiculous on pitch behaviour. All three have a common denominator , they played for the now defunct club.

  10. If we’d drawn Sevco for the BetFred semi it would just have been another game that should never have been played, now its just another game that shouldn’t have been played at Murrayfield. We decided to go tomorrow as a gesture of defiance to the SFA, the opportunity of a pint at Haymarket and to sample a newish venue for the Hoops.

Besides, that ‘Brendan Rodger’s Celtic’ side needs and deserves the usual customary backing in readiness for when we take on “Seethen Gerrard’s Rainjurz’ . Meanwhile the Budge assisted maroon muggers have taken to social media fancying their chances against our crisis, Celtic.

Fascinating game, in which Hertz will have no long grass to hide, only wide open spaces that James Forrest , Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic will cover fastest, and longest.

Massive game for Jack Hendry to kick start his Celtic career, alongside captain Keiran? Would like, Lewis Morgan to stretch Hearts legs as well at some stage from our injury ravaged Cup holding squa., where Lustig will start and his seniority might mean he’ll call heads or tails, just before the scrum, wait…. Huddle.

Off at a tangent as usual but any suggestion for cheap internet security systems!. Had McAfee for last year which is fine – but £69 to renew for another year seems over the top!

    ————————

If you’re using a Windows machine then just activate/download Microsoft Security Essentials, it’s probably already on your pc/laptop.

You really don’t need to be paying for internet security.

I think the athletic Ryan Christie would revel in the wide open spaces of Murrayfield. Especially later in the game.
