GUSTAF LAGERBIEKLE sealed his five-year deal to Celtic from Elsborg yesterday, as CQN reported.

The 23-year-old Swedish international centre-back became Brendan Rodgers’ sixth signing ahead of the August 31 transfer deadline.

Lagerbiekle, who cost something in the region of £3million, is the latest in the second time-around Hoops manager’s rebuilding of the treble-winning squad which has already seen Filipe Jota and Carl Starfelt move on while Aaron Mooy decided to hang up his boots as he prepares for his 33rd birthday next month.

HOOPY DAZE…Maik Nawrocki smiles happily as he holds aloft his new Celtic shirt.

Among the first to arrive were Australian winger Marco Tilio, who is injured and still awaiting his debut, and Norwegian midfielder Odin Thiago Holm. They were quickly followed by South Korean duo Yang Hyun-jun and Kwon Hyeon-kyu.

Polish central defender Maik Nawrocki was No.5 to arrive in a £4.3million switch from Legia Warsaw last month.

Now Lagerbiekle has joined the champions and boss Rodgers, speaking on the club website, said: “We are really pleased to finalise the deal for Gustaf.

“He is an exciting, talented young player who has great attributes and someone who I think is ready for the challenges that Celtic will bring.

“I know he is really hungry to achieve success with us. We think he will bring even more quality to our squad and we really look forward to working with him.”

THUMB’S UP…Brendan Rodgers acknowledges the Celtic support after the 3-1 win at Pittodrie on Sunday.

Rodgers has been busy in the market since his return was rubberstamped on June 19 – a fortnight after the announcement of Ange Postecoglou’s switch to Spurs had been made official.

The Irishman has cash to spend as he painstakingly and cautiously continues his rebuild and there will be more acquisitions to follow.

So, who will be No.7?
