Improper Registration charge for corrupting 700 games still to hit

1256

At some point today those who believed Rangers have, or should have, impunity from the law of the land, as well as the rules and regulations of Scottish football, will awaken to the realisation that this is not the case.

Soon thereafter another thought will arrive: what about the impending Improper Registration of Players charge?

Over a decade of subverting every competition they have played in.  Denying clubs who register players correctly the right to compete on a level playing field.  Grabbing prize money and the abundant financial rewards of Champions League football rightly due to others – more on this later in the week.

This charge brings every domestic and European competition they played in into disrepute and is several times the magnitude than that which Rangers were punished for yesterday.  Then consider bringing the game into disrepute by chasing football bling instead of paying taxes, a separate issue from player registration.

The toxicity of these charges is enormous and if upheld will bring punishments appropriate for corrupting over 700 football games.  A whole raft of disciplinary procedures has still to take place.  If the misdemeanours of the Craig Whyte era have caused distress, those of the old board, including Ogilvie, Johnston and the Murray twins, will soon establish Rangers current owner as a mere footnote in the club’s demise.

Show of hands, who sat on the board that spent £4m on Jelavic two years after the HMRC investigation into EBTs started?

  5. Just read the statement on SSN by that plonker Dingleberry;

Mark Dingwall, of the Rangers Supporters Trust, foamed at Sky News that the SFA should have blocked Craig Whyte’s takeover of Rangers in the first place.

He said: “Rangers Football Club and Rangers fans are the victims of Craig Whyte’s behaviour.

“We’re supposed to pick up the bill and live with his legacy but the SFA, who are supposed to govern the game in Scotland, they bottled it from Craig Whyte when they said they couldn’t enforce the fit and proper person rule because Craig Whyte’s lawyers wouldn’t co-operate with them. I think that should be a red flag to anybody.

“The SFA have been negligent in this and the view of most fans is that in their behaviour and in this sentencing they’ve shown themselves to be both corrupt and biased.”

Now unless I missed something, it’s not the SFA who have sold Snake Mountain up the swanee river, they have merely applied the rules and sanctions for breaking them. It’s their coma ward of moribund pet journalists who have failed them. If even one of them had woken up from their dribbling reverie to fumble at their computer they could have been in a much better position by this point. It is here that the verité lies. And they all deserve everything, sharp, pointy or blunt and heavy rapidly changing course and diverting to collide with their weeping flabby forms.

  7. Over a decade of cheating. Now what could the punishment for that be?

Nothing that would make D&P’s job more difficult of course. Nothing that would make it tricky to come out of administration. They want clarity.

How about lifetime bans for all involved as Directors over those ten years? Murray, Murray, Greig, Ogilvie et al.

And expulsion of the club from the SFA. With no possibility of readmission.

Is that clear enough? Does that make what to do next nice and easy?

Can someone please explain to me? If Rangers did (as we suspect/believe) fail to register players properly who would that manifest itself in either a newco or CVA situation?

    1. In CVA SPL/SFA could – in theory – still apply the rules and results to a 3-0 defeat in each case and strip titles? Could Celtic and others make claims for loss of income as a result? Or must financial claims such as be registered now – while in CVA and an agreement with creditors has no yet been reached?

    2. In a Newco case I assume SPL/SFA could strip old co of titles? Would they do this as it no longer exists? Celtic and others in this case couldnt bring legal action against Newco (as it wasnt them) or OldCo as it doesnt exisit?

    Am I right?

  17. Awe_Naw_No_Annoni_Oan_Anaw_Noo on

    TET

I cannot see the SPL surviving it.

Clearly Duff & Phelps have held some sway over Neil Doncaster for some time.

Without a NEWco Rangers how many SPL chairman will actually want to play in that environment ?

Clearly there is a power struggle going on between the SFA and the SPL.

    Bodies will be buried.

When the SFA starts to clear up its game and lets be honest this is not one of them (the present Rangers punishment) .. that is a bare minimum

Regan and Ogilvie will not survive nor Doncaster of the SPL.

I think there will be too much fighting self interest and pettiness. The TV deal is yet to be signed. Whether NEwco takes part is yet to be decided also. I think it will be too much and that we have already seen the LAST SPL program

  19. Why don’t we dial back in time a wee bit and imagine this scenario (apologies if it has been covered before)

A year ago rangers had been on the market for 4 years with nobody willing to buy them.

Time is fast running out for them and a saviour/buyer is desperately needed.

Lo and behold, one comes forward in the shape of Craig Whyte.

Craig passes all the checks and due diligence of the then rangers owner, including the all-important “sniff test”

Just as he is about to be crowned the New King of the Huns….bang, the SFA intervene and block his purchase of the club on the grounds that, although missed entirely by david murray, they have deemed him to be an unfit person.

What do you think would have happened next?

Firm manly handshakes and a big Well Done from the blue brethren in thanks to Stewart Regan for blocking the deal?

Pitchforks and torches at the SFA doors?

Mmmmmm….think I’ll go for the second option

ps I am no lover of Mr Regan or his cohorts
