It took my breath away

Celtic hunt in packs.

Leipzig possessed tremendous ability to switch the ball across the field with speed and accuracy.  Celtic hunted the ball down, packs of players swooped on the man in possession, then often switched to the other side of the field, before swooping again.

This took oceans of energy, but most of all speed.  How many times did you notice Callum McGregor or Ryan Christie scarper 30 yards at full pace, just to add defensive cover?  This is why Leipzig created so few good chances until the latter stages of the game.

Leipzig can do nothing about Forrest.

All they could do with James Forrest is get close enough to concede a foul and receive a caution.  The often showed James inside, but he can drop a shoulder and escape with the ball so well he was literally unplayable.

Tiredness before equaliser.

Before Leipzig’s equaliser the visitors had three substitutes on the field, whereas, Celtic persevered with the starting 11.  Rogic, Sinclair, Forrest and especially Lustig were tired.  I was desperate for Brendan to put fresh legs on.  Forrest was still capable of tormenting the Leipzig defence, so I was surprised when he was replaced with 7 minutes left, but Sinclair and Rogic both made significant contributions in the final minutes.

Peter, get ready for the summer.

We know the script when it comes to French under-21 internationals.  Leipzig could not get the ball off Odsonne Edouard inside the box.  Could. Not. Get. The. Ball. Off. Him.  There will be a clamour for this boy’s signature.  I know it’s the last thing we want and how difficult it is to continue to go to the well and get the same results, but this one is in the post.

McGregor, Christie, Sinclair, Forrest and Rogic.

Yesterday I wrote that I wanted these five tested at this level.  They determined Celtic’s entire structure and pace of play.  The result was that we played our best football in Europe for a long time.  They have already done the same to our domestic form.  We will need Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham this season, but we cannot this midfield just to accommodate either of them.

Life’s great experiences!

The moment the stadium fell dark, bar spotlights on the centre circle, took my breath away.  For the next five minutes, I was mesmerised.  If life’s great experiences are truly priceless, the new light system at Celtic Park was worth every penny, whatever the cost.  60,000 people stood in awe, and there are a good few hardened cynics among them.

You and me have had some great times in recent years.

I think in the past it was possible for one club to veto any TV deal, probably one of two. Do not believe that is the case any more. That said, Celtic on our own would be worth more than the pittance we are likely from the company that used to employ the likes of Andy Grey. And the vast majority of our games would be played at 3pm on a Sat. afternoon. Worth its weight in gold for me.

Kennel cough is equivalent to a ver bad dose of flu in a human, most dogs won’t eat unless they can smell their food, the same for drinking, but in general it’s normally just food, if you can you really need to try and get some fluid into him, squirt it down his throat if needs be, they will manage for a while without food, honey and Benelyn for the cough, it works wonders.

Yip he will be sensing the problem with his other owner 100%, not much you can do about that I’m afraid, if you can give him something that belongs to her if possible, the smell should comfort him, but do try and get some water into him.

  4. i’vehadtochangemymind,

Big Edouard played the number 9 role admirably on Thursday. I’m so excited by how Good he can become.

I have no Idea how Moussa is doing @ Lyon. I hope he becomes one of the best number 9s in the World.

  5. About the TV stuff – I think that Celtic care too much about Scottish Fitba to just rip it up and do Celtic tv only.

Celtic could do this but they won’t.

Sevco would do it in an instant, IMO, because they are NEW.

  6. THE EXILED TIM. cheers pal joan has got a syringe and is pumping water into him as we speak, thanks for your thoughts.hh.

  7. Haven’t read all the way back, but am Certain its been well mentioned before. I’m talkin about the two jokers on bbc scotlands, off the ball, this afternoon, and their constant references to the ’embarrassing disco lights’ at Paradise on Thursday.. ‘a joke’, ‘trivial’, ‘like some tacky half time show in American Football’.. then reading out some pretend texts from pretend Celtic ‘fans’ talkin down the whole experience. Well, I haven’t met or heard Anyone who didn’t think the atmosphere at Celtic Park was electric and made the game so Fantastic. Every foreign journalist who attended praised the Fans and the atmosphere. Only in Scotland eh. HH

I’m pumped up having a 1.2 turbo car, though not so much getting done by Police doing 40 in a 30 dual carriageway with AVERAGE speed cameras- in Rutherglen. Wow. Money maker City.

  9. Celtic Mac

I don’t know what the current deal with the voting is, the club wouldn’t do it cos they have in a warped kinda way morals ;-), but I honestly think the clubs, all the clubs should tell sky or whoever it is to gtf, the deal is a joke, the tv cos will pay more at the end of the day, to roll over and accept a pittance is criminal imo.

With the big hitters we have on our board, coms people and the like, and I’m sure there would be plenty of peole who could setr something up that would be favourable to all the clubs, and it would make so much more than what the tv scammers are offering, but the fear is holding them back, they deserve to go bust imo.

  10. From BBC SCOTLAND

Brendan Rodgers says it was “inspiring” to put Scotland’s Homeless World Cup players through a training session before next week’s finals in Mexico.

The Celtic manager invited the players to Lennoxtown for a pep-talk before putting them through their paces before Sunday’s game at Livingston.

Rodgers volunteered to get involved with Street Soccer charity after meeting its founder, David Duke.

“It really is inspiring for me to meet these people,” the Celtic boss said.

“These guys have been unfortunate. You hear talk about people getting a second chance but some of these people never got a first chance in life.

“I salute these men and women because their lives and troubles and everything they’ve been through are so far removed from football and the bubble that we live in.

“So I think it’s very important if we can do anything to help them, try to inspire them, try to motivate them to hopefully get on that ladder and turn their life around.”

Scotland have won the tournament twice, but for Duke – who was homeless himself before turning his life around and starting Street Soccer – silverware is secondary.

“It’s amazing, almost surreal,” said Duke of Thursday’s session, which was also attended by Celtic coaches Chris Davies, John Kennedy and Kolo Toure.

“For Brendan to offer – we didn’t ask him, he offered – because he wanted to give the guys a good send-off before the Homeless World Cup, it’s just left everyone buzzing.”

  11. Big Packy…I agree with TET…Jorge must drink plenty water…and yes, he senses something’s not right…december last year, a few days before my mum passed away, I took the dogs to see her as they always cheered her up and she was in need of some cheer…i have a very sweet, gentle german shepherd and an enormous but soft akita. Well, after greeting my mum, the big man sat himself in front of her and let out a huge long howl…”Why is he doing that?” She asked me. “Because he loves you and he’s showing it…” That cheered her up!…

For me , Leigh is potentially a marvellous striker.

I want him part of the squad.
