  1. The Inane Rambler on

    Nice.

A beautiful part of the world. I’ve enjoyed many a promenade there. Badly scarred this time last year and largely ignored since.

Sadly, we have seen further murders, based on the same mindset, and still we do little.

  2. Great to see our team come through a tough proposition on and off the park tonight.

Venue and officials and environment far more challenging than the opponent.

Onward and upward to a higher level. Not worth lowering ourselves to their level which is as low or even below Sevco.

    We didn’t.

Nice that some bitter sad little one dimensional anti board folks on here seem to have found more to add to their pathetic anti board agenda as well……… Everyone happy.

  3. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Starry Plough, I bought the cassette as it was in the W H Smith clearance basket , it was £1.50 , when we were in Ipswich for the Alan Hunter testimonial. It also fitted into the pocket of my donkey jacket.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s game , despite the forecasted rain, seeing Olivier , plus Kouassi if fit, get some match time against a very good side.

Let’s hope the squad players who start, impress giving Brendan selection probems.

  4. Cultsbhoy says Hail Hail to Hector and Brendan on

There right winger was no bad for the level he’s playing at..Smith?

Be good to see Hayes…I still think he’s a better option than Forest…Forest did fine but felt he could have accelerated forward more.Hayes does that instinctively.

  5. From The Fiver in The Guardian, 13/6/2017.

    THE THIRTEENTH

The transfers are beginning to fly thick and fast now. Arguably the most important deal of the last 24 hours was struck by Aberdeen, who signed Queen’s Celtic jinking genius Gary Garrincha-Mackay-Steven just in time for Thursday’s Big Vase qualifier against Siroki Brijeg. We should have mentioned this yesterday, truth be told, but that’s probably for the best, given that talk of Scottish teams in Big Vase would invariably lead back to the recent humiliation of a certain side in Luxembourg, and we wouldn’t have wanted to harsh anyone’s buzz on a very special day. Anyway, we hope everyone had a good time marching, torching teetering piles of pallets, and playing Roy Orbison deep cuts on piccolo. Meanwhile best of luck to the Dons, and indeed Progrès Niederkorn.

  6. Noticed they were booing Scott Sinclair from the start,,,why?

Broony gets booed by everyone, but why SS?

    Rhetorical question obviously…total scum.

  7. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan on

Good result tonight for Celtic. We did more than enough with the ball and there was some nice interplay through the middle.

We should have scored more goals but that will come but we need to watch the bookings count.

Anyway, 32 years ago this weekend we celebrated Live Aid in an attempt at bringing all people together to fight world hunger. I spent it in downtown Crianlarich downing bottles of Drambuie in between a pint or two.

Years later I would celebrate Bastille night on the banks of the Clyde down at the old garden festival site.

Sad to note that this time last year indiscriminate death was brought to the lovely city of Nice and good to hear from WC that this was remembered and respected in reverential silence.

Here is a wee story I wrote a few years ago that has a connection between Nice and Glasgow.

Apologies if you have read it before, and if you haven’t I hope you enjoy.

Note, however, that it is a mini novel and reading it will not be a 5-minute exercise.

  8. Pog

Took your advice and went for the weissbier from Aldi – not half bad at all. Together with bratties und kartoffelsalat, a fine accompaniment to a hunskelping, and nicely set up for a wee trip to Paradise tomorrow. Embdae else staying over? Starting with lunch in La Lanterns at 1230 to get us off on the left foot!

  9. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Cults , Smyth stuck out as a god friend of mine from Belfast has the same surname, and loathes Linfield and anyone who plays for them. He is not too chuffed about a Smyth playing for tem.

Our third player called Olivier now plays for us . He should impress more than the previos two Oliviers , messrs Tebily and Kapo.

  10. TWC

Two great friends of mine were on the promenade in Nice that night.

Thankfully they were not affected but the thought of such good people coming to harm haunts me.

Tonight must be a very solemn night in Nice.

  11. What is the Stars on

I thought Jonny Hayes did well enough. I think he could be pushing for a first team place

  12. BBC NI main news just reported the match as incident free. Think I need to go to Specsavers

  13. Stringer Bell on

    WITS

    Agree on Hayes.

I remember being very pleasantly surprised at how well some of our lesser heralded signings have done for us – Paul Hartley and Scott McDonald being two – and how they stepped up and delivered relatively quickly in Europe.

Hope JH is another to add to the list.

  14. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

What is the Stars, I thought Jonnny played well when he came on , direct and happy to use his right foot . He has a god burst of pace also.

He will offer us a bit more directness whether he starts or comes on as a sub in games.

  15. I know it’s a laugh that Leigh held up the 5-1 signal to the bigots but really he should be more professional, I’ve said before sometimes Leigh plays the occasion and not the match. Moussa is all business and will start next week and in the next round.

  16. Griff should be more professional. Why he was indicating that he wanted 6 in the box for the corner, when we were 2-0 ahead in the away leg, is beyond me!

  17. lets all do the huddle on

all the bad comments that JPT was gettin on twitter today were rank out of order.

i reckon both clubs and the polis played a blinder by putting our fans in the same stand

    a victory for common sense

  18. lets all do the huddle on

in hindsight we maybe could have taken our allocation and all would have been well

    but wasnt worth the risk

  19. Once we drew Linfield there was always a risk of contamination. Tonight passed off as well as could be expected. Getting over next Wed. will be a lot easier, then just forget about the neanderthals and concentrate on the season ahead.

  20. What is the Stars on

    Timreaper

    I agree about Leigh.

However no excuse for throwing bottles..but you know yourself it will be used against him.

By the way I know you weren’t trying to suggest that

  21. Magnificentseven on

come on guys, we all know why we didn’t take the allocation, it was inevitable that something would kick off. As it stands we cannot be blamed for anything, it’s all on the Belfast huns, if we officially had fans there you can be sure we would have been dragged into the crap somehow, they are only too keen to fine us, including when a Linfield observer accused us, I hope he pays the fine personally

  22. DALLAS DALLAS WHERE THE HECK IS DALLAS

Aye me too a football game against a football team:))

Not some time leap back into the 17th century!

Two Celtic games back to back not the worst thing!

  23. Delaneys Dunky on

Horrible pondlife mob will be put in their place on Wednesday. I hope Celtic go for a double figure victory. Send the Belfast bigot vermin back home wi their rat tails between their hind legs. Scum

  24. What is the Stars on

    Delaneys

Tonight was the chance to rub their noses in it.

2 nil was a great result for them

    Rodgers out

  25. Yep WITS, delighted how things are going. Don’t expect us to win the All Ireland this year but maybe in a year or two. I’d be satisfied with an All Ireland Minor win this year.

Anyhow I’m off to my leaba , goodnight & God Bless all. Glad tonight’s tie is out of the way.
