Milan’s mistake with their Champions League squad – they inadvertently included Stephan El Shaarawy in their restricted A List of players, instead of the B List, denying a place in either list for M’Baye Niang, is welcome news. Their squad is strong, with or without Niang, but the oversight lends credence to the notion that a malaise has settled over the club. Director, Umberto Gandini apologised, but already the Milanese are focused on what they don’t have in their armory as a result of the oversight – an excuse for failure is ready made.
I met the owner of an IT company shortly before they went into liquidation and asked him who he had on his board. “Are you not on our board too?” was his jocular response. The company had already gone through a couple of difficult years. With each passing period investors became increasingly concerned; they all wanted a place around the boardroom table, convinced that their gilt-edged experience would be able to guide the company through its troubles.
The chief exec had to cope not-so-much with a boardroom full of captains of industry (which they were), as another pressure group to satisfy, along with clients, creditors, staff and the bank (they may have been weeks from liquidation, but they still had borrowing, this was not a Metro Bank deposit account-only operation).
The chief exec understood the industry and, left to his own devices, stood a sporting chance at survival, but when the boardroom table became occupied by a parcel of rogues the game was up.
On a completely separate matter, I am delighted at the prospect of Paul Murray and John McClelland having a second shot at being a non-executive director of a football club. Wikipedia’s definition of the roles of a non-exec is worth a cursory glance to indicate why. They did so well last time. The others, who it is proposed will share a place at Newco’s table, also appear perfect for the role. If only Sir David would come out of retirement and join them.
Will one of the many directors insist that The Rangers Football Club Ltd submits its Annual Return to Companies House? Under its previous name, Sevco Scotland Ltd, The Rangers Football Club Ltd bought liquidation assets from Duff and Phelps, and which, according to Rangers International’ PLC’s interim financial statement in March, was incorporated into the PLC’s group.
The Return is over two months late. Perhaps, with so many directors available for comment, one will be asked by a journalist or shareholder why the company which bought all the assets has not submitted basic information, revealing ownership details. Perhaps not. No hurry, a striking off notice will be weeks away.

Violent conduct is a 3 game ban if ref sees it and gives a red.

Watch the clip again. Gunning hoofs the ball off. Gets both feet down, then kicks at VvD. In the long shot, you can clearly see the ref has followed the flight of the ball. So he’s not looking anywhere near them.
The linesman who had been looking across at the offside, is probably more at fault, but again, he may have legitimately been looking elsewhere.
Initially I was talking in more general terms about setting a precedent for punishing referees for missing something off the ball but let’s leave it there. I’m far more worried about refs not punishing (or incorrectly punishing) things on the ball to be honest.

You know that is where I usually always end up when I get the train into Glasgow! Looking for somewhere different.

I hope Barca make it through the group stages alongside us. We can win this group, especially as we have the height that Barca don’t. :P
Loadsa goals, for the gamblers interested in over goals markets both ties, IMO.
What Jim Spence is victim of is the unforeseen consequences of a decision for commercial reasons, with more than a hint of fear by the SFA, not to clarify the nature in football of the footballing entity playing out of Ibrox who went into liquidation.
Both Rangers and the SFA must know how they were viewed as a club. a company or a mixture of both before Rangers became insolvent.
Both parties know the nature in footballing terms from any paperwork requiring the nature of the footballing business to be revealed.
One such piece of paperwork is the legal declaration a club or a company running a club (with the paperwork showing the relationship) a club or company who wish to play in a UEFA competition have to make. It is an agreement by the club or company to abide by certain conditions that is signed by the club or company. There is different paperwork for each under Articles 43 and 45 of UEFA FFP.
The SFA must know from the paperwork or even advised on what part of the paperwork is relevant how the SFA saw Rangers and how Rangers saw themselves prior to liquidation.
Yet the SFA have said nothing to clear the fog of a propaganda war, a war in which Jim Spence is now a victim.
The media of course have not helped by failing to accurately identify the indicators in the rules of the true nature of what was liquidated and there may be more unforeseen consequences of that failure.
If it is more journos then they either ask the SFA the right questions or hell mend them.

weeminger,
Listened to David Holmes first essential mix last night, a lot of really good stuff on that mix. I didnae like the first track though, he brought it back with Plastikman the very next track. That first one is usually crucial. :)) Although it might have been because I thought one side of my headphones had stopped working. Those Bhoys frae the North of Ireland huv an amazing sense of humour and perspective.
Anyways, Thanks for the excellent link to all the mixes!!!!

Gunning lashes the ball out of the park, two seconds later he kicks out at Virgil
Why did the officials miss it? oh yes they were all watching a ball ballooning out the park into a stand

Re your survey .. Sevco are a new team with only one SD3 title under their belt.
I support my team, so yes, I’d be there supporting us no matter who we play.
Treating them any differently would only validate their delusion of being the same team.
Cos their deid, we know it, they know it.
But then, If I was Mr Lawell, my tactics would be to lend out our best up-and-coming young players to the team most likely to give Sevco a run for their money in whatever division they are playing in.

Are they not supposed to track the ball then?
Either that or he’s asking the linesman about the offside. Either way watch the clip. He clearly isn’t looking at them by the time Gunning kicks at VvD.
In general terms though, you accept that incidents will happen off the ball that the referee won’t have seen but might be caught on camera, and those should be pubished, yes?

Hamiltontim I think you are missing the point i.e. the hun.
The reason why none of us want to turn up against them is because:
a) it legitimises the corruption
b) it ignores the decades of bigotry and sectarianism heaped upon us
