Milanese mistakes, Sevco Annual Return

705

Milan’s mistake with their Champions League squad – they inadvertently included Stephan El Shaarawy in their restricted A List of players, instead of the B List, denying a place in either list for M’Baye Niang, is welcome news. Their squad is strong, with or without Niang, but the oversight lends credence to the notion that a malaise has settled over the club. Director, Umberto Gandini apologised, but already the Milanese are focused on what they don’t have in their armory as a result of the oversight – an excuse for failure is ready made.

I met the owner of an IT company shortly before they went into liquidation and asked him who he had on his board.  “Are you not on our board too?” was his jocular response.  The company had already gone through a couple of difficult years.  With each passing period investors became increasingly concerned; they all wanted a place around the boardroom table, convinced that their gilt-edged experience would be able to guide the company through its troubles.

The chief exec had to cope not-so-much with a boardroom full of captains of industry (which they were), as another pressure group to satisfy, along with clients, creditors, staff and the bank (they may have been weeks from liquidation, but they still had borrowing, this was not a Metro Bank deposit account-only operation).

The chief exec understood the industry and, left to his own devices, stood a sporting chance at survival, but when the boardroom table became occupied by a parcel of rogues the game was up.

On a completely separate matter, I am delighted at the prospect of Paul Murray and John McClelland having a second shot at being a non-executive director of a football club.  Wikipedia’s definition of the roles of a non-exec is worth a cursory glance to indicate why.  They did so well last time.  The others, who it is proposed will share a place at Newco’s table, also appear perfect for the role.  If only Sir David would come out of retirement and join them.

Will one of the many directors insist that The Rangers Football Club Ltd submits its Annual Return to Companies House? Under its previous name, Sevco Scotland Ltd, The Rangers Football Club Ltd bought liquidation assets from Duff and Phelps, and which, according to Rangers International’ PLC’s interim financial statement in March, was incorporated into the PLC’s group.

The Return is over two months late.  Perhaps, with so many directors available for comment, one will be asked by a journalist or shareholder why the company which bought all the assets has not submitted basic information, revealing ownership details. Perhaps not. No hurry, a striking off notice will be weeks away.

    I’ll go. I’ve never said I wouldn’t though.

However from here on in, they’re just like any other team. If somethings crops up that means I miss the game, so be it. I won’t be ensuring I get there, like I did with the old team.

  2. Now this is just a thought, could be funny, could be serious, just imagine (and this could happen) we drew Sevco at Home.in the Scottish Cup, what do you think Celtic would put on the ticket? Thems name I mean.

It’s the wee things that amuse you…..

I decided to sign this petition put forward by Tom Minogue, looking for key public decision makers to declare whether they are members of the Masons or similar secret organisations which demand that their members treat fellow brethren differently from non-brethern.

The random security signature that I was asked to enter into the wee box was “hungag”…..

    Ye couldnae make it up…..

Good Luck Tom (I think you’ll need it but worthy of support anyway)

I for one…will never watch that mob ever at CP, and I hope I wont be the only one

I hope PL can sort it out because its beyond joke at the sfa….they should be investigated by UEFA

No sevco at CP…No old firm either….ipox turned in to a car park:)

    Hail Hail

Hail – Hail Greenman, I fully appreciate your feelings & I can see what you

mean. But believe it or not, their are even some Hoops Supporters out

there who want them back. I for one would not lose any sleep if they

disappeared off of the face of Planet Earth. But there are certainly

quite a few Hoops minded people who want them back & I’ve heard

those remarks with my own ears. Some say the SPL has lost it’s

competitive edge since they have been relegated to come back into

the fold as a new/same old company.

You will also notice that SPL Home Attendances at CP have decreased

since they have been relegated and even the Hospitality Stewards

at CP have been moaning because of cutbacks and Job reductions

because the Business sales figures in the sales of co-operate box’s

have gone down which is worth £50,000 per Season each, to our Club.

Which in turn over a Season is worth well over a million pounds,in

lost revenue to our Club. Football nowadays is not a sport anymore

it’s one big financial business and the so called organisers of the

game within our Country are willing to sweep honest football integrity

and fair business dealings under the carpet to keep money coming

in, like turn a blind eye, the three monkeys 1) see no evil 2) hear no

evil & 3) speak no evil. So they can safeguard their jobs, and ignore

the corruption which is going on in the background, sad but true.

    Thanks for pointing this out.

To be honest with you, I hardly watch BBC

Apart from sometimes News24 to keep up with

current affairs. But this does not surprise me

As soon as someone from the BBC/Channel Four

or whatever TV Station, comes out and tells the truth

about the shady dealings of Old Co/Sevco, the

Huns start moaning, and want said person and

program, which revealed those facts, to be hung

drawn and quartered, sad but true.

  7. I presume that the BBC has a contract with the SPFL to show highlights of games, I would also presume therefore that part of that contract is that access is given to the BBC.

Therefore I would expect someone within the SPFL to ask officially if the BBC is banned from any grounds, including Ipox and Tannadice and an explantion why.

If they are banned I would expect any money due them from the contract to be withheld.

I would also expect a disrepute charge to be lodged against any club that this applied to, especially if it concerned a hearing from the compliance officer.

Jackie Mac on a par with Sally………………..I agree

Dundee Utd have decided not to co-operate with either STV or the BBC after Gavin Gunning was banned for three games after he took a fly kick at Celtics Virgil van Dijk when the referee wasn’t looking.

Note, this is not the actual event, but now and again I like to show the MSM that I can do what they do when it comes to shameless misrepresentation.

    Manager Jackie MacNamara adopted a stance which compliments perfectly his baby faced features when he said;

“The whole thing has disappointed me to say the least. It’s selective evidence which will lead to Gavin missing these three games. Nothing had been said until it was shown on the televison via Sportscene on Sunday night. That’s what’s wrong.

“We’ve been penalised for way the footage has been edited on the television. There were other incidents which went unpunished so what we really need is consistency. Joe Ledley stuck out an arm and was spoken to by the referee but nothing has been done about that. It’s not about getting other players into trouble. It’s just about getting consistent decision-making.”

“I’ve no faith in the whole appeal system or how it is run. There wasn’t one ex-player on it, but there was an ex-referee. It doesn’t help in these instances. So what I would say is, watch this space for more cases like this.

“This has opened a real can of worms. You now can’t even flick a leg out or it is going to be deemed violent conduct and highlighted by TV.”

He’s relatively new to the world of management, but the fact is his player kicked van Dijk. Thats why he got punished.

Although he has a point about trial by television which its hard to disagree with, and it doesn’t seem right that the referee and linesmen who missed the incident go uncensured, but the point is he is guilty. And that should be that.

MacNamara is still learning his trade, and will perhaps in later years come to regret his outburst, which is straight from the Ally McCoist book of dealing with the press. Though to be fair, he stopped short of blaming Jim Spence, who this morning woke to find a horses head in his bed.

Dundee Utd may blame the BBC for highlighting the offence, but its Sky who provided the pictures. Can’t think why they aren’t banning them from Tannadice.

Speaking of McCoist, apparently their latest signing,Bolel Moshni, said it was McCoists grasp of French that convinced him to join the Glasgow club. That and his previous manager telling him he was bloody useless.

He’s joined to help McCoist in his search for silverware, and has ordered a brand new metal detector. McCoist has been at the centre of criticism from female supporters after he refused to sign one of their breasts, claiming he’d signed enough tits this summer already.

As much as I like to criticize the officials, I don’t think you can blame them for missing an incident. There’s 22 players on the pitch plus a ball that has to be watched. It’s physically impossible for them to see everything at once.

I’ve already said on here I will not go to any games involving Sevco. Admittedly it is easier for me as I don’t live in Scotland.

I suppose a better barometer for me is whether I will make an effort to watch Celtic v Sevco on the telly. When Rangers existed I would always make plans around the match if I was unable to attend. With Sevco, I know if I have other plans I will just record the match.

Basically, I don’t consider Sevco to be our rivals. They exist to entertain us with their off-the-pitch hilarity.

Small but important point – Sevco have never played at a higher level than where they are just now.

should be relegated into the scottish juniors league right into the bottom tier so

  28. NatKnow - Supporting Wee Oscar on

I might be going against the grain here bhoys but, while I think the manner in which Dundee Utd are handling the situation, I agree with the key objection they are making. Punishments are being handed out based on footage that has been edited. An editorial decision has been made about what to highlight and what to leave out. If the SFA want to use TV decide nice to hand out punishments retrospectively then they need to be reviewing all footage of every game and not just what is selected for broadcast. Celtic have been subject to this kind of selective use of video footage in the past.
