Change underway at SFA, Irish Voice launch

650

Some of the reaction to Peter Lawwell’s promotion to the top table of the bowling club yesterday was thoroughly entertaining, including some from our own side.  As a rule, I’m happy to germinate nonsense which distracts potential opponents from applying logical analysis to their world, so now THE EVIDENCE is all there!!

The SFA badly need higher calibre board members and, despite some generous assessments (from all sides), Celtic’s influence over the Association has been akin to pushing water up a marble staircase.  The only genuine solutions to Scottish football’s problems will be to the benefit of all clubs, not just the main income generator.  This is the challenge Peter Lawwell should set himself.  By delivering well-funded, competitive football for all, he will best look after the interests of Celtic.  Big changes all round are required.

I was accustomed today by a suggestion that Celtic were about to announce debts of over £30m after investing in some underperforming bonds!  Fortunately the story teller is listening to the wrong people and this is complete fantasy.  At least this nonsense keeps people from reading the accounts and asking by our board blow so much cash on amortisation each year instead of buying players.

Shout out to the newly launched Irish Voice newspaper, issue one of which is now out.  Focussed on “Bringing you all the news from the Irish in Scotland” it’s a really impressive read – and it’s free!  Check it out online here and look out for the paper copy.

    Blinkin’ flip!

    Late again!

    Bloody barmaids….

  2. Murrayfield could be a good marketing tool for the Club. It is so big that they could offer very cheap tickets in an attempt to fill it, give a lot of people their first taste of Celtic ‘live’ and hopefully hook a good number of future fans (particularly kids).

    Thoughts?

When are the accounts coming out?

They are running really late this year.

Looking at the 9th Sept now?

As an aside when we’re they published last year?

May struggle to fill it but it is an opportunity. Would be good if we could provide some free tickets for deserving causes. Has the same outcome I guess. However, there will be a cost to hiring Murrayfield. I’m guessing ( and hope!) The club will run the numbers to work out how this can be most financially advantageous for us.

Over on FF they are foaming at the mouth about a Celtic man on the SFA board while boasting that in the struth years (30 yrs) only 4 rankers players were sent off. They certainly don’t do irony.

Would this cost not be offset by monies we receive for Commonwealth Games use of Celtic Park ?

    Precisely.

Unless all clubs are financially blind, they will recognise this.

The “income generator” is in a position to exhibit generosity of spirit ,combined with assistance in the hip pocket department and PERHAPS a new cooperative and unified attitude may prevail amongst Scottish Clubs while the disruptive influence of the hun remains beyond the pale AND out of the loop.

    Marginalise the hun.Circle the wagons.

  12. Why should it cost Celtic to hire Murrayfield? Surely the Commonwealth Games folk will be sent the tab?

I think it is a bit arrogant of this kind of talk before the league is won and a decision has to be made.

If we win the CL this year the problem goes away as there would be no need for qualifiers.

Well I’m guessing that the club already know what they are due to receive for the use of CP as a Commonwealth Games venue. But when this was agreed, would they have known they wouldn’t be able to use CP for the CL qualifiers? Not sure. Either way, I’m sure they’ll be looking to maximize every opportunity.

If we have to pay a few bob for Murrayfield,so what?

An excellent chance to put 60,000 fans into a different environment, charge a tenner, take the TV money.

The big cost won’t be hiring the stadium-peanuts overall-it will be failing to qualify.

Take advantage of the potential crowd and use it to our advantage.

I would imagine that the CG folk will cover any extra expenses Celtic have, due to moving.

Worse than going to Murrayfield would be going to Ibrox, should ee make the semis of the Cups.

Hampden is out of commission from November.
