Season will be a battle from now on

143

For the top half of the table, post-split competitive action is mostly concentrated on Celtic and Newco, for the top spot, and the battle between St Mirren and Dundee for fifth place and European football.

Hearts are marooned (get it), 13 points from second and nine ahead of fourth placed Kilmarnock.  Killie have an eight-point lead over St Mirren, who hold only a two point advantage over Dundee.

St Mirren are up first on Sunday, hosting Newco.  Dundee will know that result before they take the field against Celtic at Dens.  We can get lost in our own worlds but you can expect St Mirren or Dundee to have another say in the outcome at the top of the table before the season ends.  The rest of the season is going to be a battle.

  5. Just watched the Man City game and man oh man do we think VAR is crooked.

City’s 2nd and 4rlth goals should not have stood, Brighton should have have at least 1 penalty. Yellow cards given for fouls by Brighton players but play waved on when City players commit fouls..

We have fought our way back to the top of the league despite VAR and referees determined to stop us bur we are Celtic we overcome all adversity.

  6. Guess playing after Liverpool didn’t bother Manchester City too much

  7. Bisgrove laying down the law on the Derby games next season.Telling lies and demanding better seats for the scum.New turnstiles have to be built for them, and new exits.Vowing to the staunch, they will NEVER give us back the full Broomloan.Making out they are calling the shots.

Just WTF are our Board thinking about here.Tell them to GTF.Nobody will tell me Ibrox will be safer for our fans.

Make them own up and apologise for the injuries to our fans and staff. For the broken bottle strewn in our goalmouth. For the bottle attack on MOR.If not,no tickets.Lily livered Board we have.I will retract that if we answer strongly.

  8. Simple solution, give them no tickets for Celtic Park, and take no tickets for Ibrox.

Do not let them call the shots.

Sevco didn’t meet the league entry criteria (3 years audited accounts was it?) but that didn’t stop them.

Harsh when it seems Buckie actually had exemptions and plans in place.

“Do not let them call the shots.”

They have not. They even said in their statement that they reluctantly agreed to the 5% euro standard (rather than the 700 they wanted to give) rather than risk a higher figure being forced upon them. Sounds like they caved in to me and certainly didn’t call the shots.

  12. Manchester United are accelerating a move for 23-year-old former Celtic right-back Jeremie Frimpong and a deal for a bargain fee with Bayer Leverkusen is expected to be struck by 14 June. It has been widely reported the Scottish champions will receive a 30 percent sell-on fee. (Bild via TeamTalk)

Above from BBC Scotland Gossip pages. Why would there be a ‘baragian fee’ for one of the standout players for Bayer Leverkusen Bundesliga champions? Is his contract up or are they trying to put a negative spin on the Celtic angle?

  13. 1969: Celtic demolish Rangers 4-0 in the final of the Scottish Cup.

Jimmy Johnstone and John Hughes were missing, and Harry Hood was cup tied.

Rangers were strong favourites having demolished Aberdeen 6-1 in the semi-finals so this was not expected to be as one-sided as it became. Rangers so confident they had arranged a post match party at Ibrox with accordian bands. (Courtesy of The Celtic Wiki.)

Deffo the later but there were rumours of a (still substantial) release clause – but given the amounts Man Utd have spend on dross Frimpong would be a bargain even at that.

Why would either team? If 5% is the European standard for both clubs then surely we have crowd segregation for entry and exit in place to suit; unless we are changing where the fans are seated just for these fixtures?!

Re Frimpong – in all truth?

Who knows what is true outside Leverkusen, Jeremie and his agent?

Was widely reported in January that he has a release clause for June 2024 only of €40m.

    My uninformed guess?

    Leaked by his agent.

“Bide your time big clubs, smooth deal available this summer”

    IF true

    AND

IF 30% sell on clause true?

    AND

IF Celtic sold Jeremie for €13m …..

A summer move will see us receive €8.1m

  19. I see no cause for concern who plays first.

We know what we have to do. Give 100%, play smart and win the games.

Let the huns do what they want at their own midden, but we should not be welcoming them into our home.
