Season will be a battle from now on

143

For the top half of the table, post-split competitive action is mostly concentrated on Celtic and Newco, for the top spot, and the battle between St Mirren and Dundee for fifth place and European football.

Hearts are marooned (get it), 13 points from second and nine ahead of fourth placed Kilmarnock.  Killie have an eight-point lead over St Mirren, who hold only a two point advantage over Dundee.

St Mirren are up first on Sunday, hosting Newco.  Dundee will know that result before they take the field against Celtic at Dens.  We can get lost in our own worlds but you can expect St Mirren or Dundee to have another say in the outcome at the top of the table before the season ends.  The rest of the season is going to be a battle.

Melvin Udall…thanks for the complimentary remark ..it was a pleasure meeting you sir and a great result on the day ….fingers and toes crossed that the Maeda rumour is true ..as although he divides opinion amongst our support the psychological impact will be massive …as the Currants and their fans are terrified of him ..not to mention disappointed Tavpen 🍀

  3. Let Maeda focus on recovery,at the moment he is out, deal with what we got.onwards to the ol victory

MU- glad you had a good day,no nails left after watching it live.yon Carpe fella is a good yin :-)

Poster Beaver experiencing Edinburgh Kittys this weekend hope result is a bit clearer

  4. Daizen Maeda against Rangers:

Scored in 22 seconds in most recent game at Ibrox

Got Balogun red carded at Celtic Park on 30 December last

Gave perfect cross at Hampden in last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final for Jota to nod home the winning goal

Scored early doors at Ibrox after very careless cross field pass from Rangers player to Tavernier which Daizen intercepted and ran through to slot past the Rangers goalie.

I wonder why so many Celtic players are keen to have him play in the forthcoming Glasgow Derby at Parkhead.

  5. What is the Starz on

I think Maeda is a dreadful football player…His lack of technique is alarming..I wouldn’t have in my over 50s five a side team…..But his pace scares teams and helps create chances for other players..His record against The Mighty Gers is phenomenal. If fit he will start…

  6. BADABING Thanks for replying back to me,What brought me to ask about the stadium renovations, was that Chris McKay spoke about it ,saying everyone knows there is work to be done in and around the stadium.

Just got that email from Celtic FC.

Amazed that the Hearts game is being played at 3pm Saturday May 4th. Best fixture outta the lotta them.

Think that will be something close to a genuine full-house. (And more than a few real Huns in situ)

Of course we have got to play Dundee beforehand and stay at least three points clear Sunday

One game at a time and all that….

    Agree 100%!

We’re stronger with Maeda in the team that’s for sure. Those who can’t see that must be watching a different team.

Also, as a bonus, he’s turning into a hun skelper. Taken over Abada’s mantle. 😂👍

  9. We have very few players with world class qualities. Daizen has world class running abilities and is our best defensive player on a weak left side. If his failings were world class, he wouldn’t be here. Would love to see him back, if only for the cup final.

😂 Same. A proper rollercoaster of a game. Also, we’re usually sh&te at penalties. Didn’t hold out much hope we’d win the shootout.

    Shows what I know! 😳🤷🏼‍♂️😂

Aye, he was good company. Can hopefully meet up with the Shipbank lot and maybe yourself some time. Not sure it will be this season though. As not expecting to be back in Scotland much.

  11. I wonder if the people who have season books and don’t ever turn up will actually turn up for the rangers and hearts games.

Or at least give their empty for someone else to attend.

The online sAles will be sold out in 15 mins. But I bet you there will be Season book holders who still don’t attend

  12. I was trying to work out there when Tav pens goals meant his team beat the Celtic.

    Anyone.

  13. But I do know dizen has contributed goals and assists for Celtic to take pontsor progress on 8 occasions

  14. I think the point about Tav pens goals is that Sevco get a lot of points that might otherwise have been dropped. In that sense, they do effect Celtic?

  15. I conversed with a st mirren fan today. He made a very compelling argument for saints taking points of them.

  16. This season was a battle before the season even started. Every celtic supporter must have known this. The directors of our club must have known this but for reasons only known to themselves they chose to help sevco.

  17. “!!BADA BING!! on 25TH APRIL 2024 5:47 PM

Buckie Thistle don’t meet promotion criteria, EK in play off final”

    Damn !!

  18. Buckie play in Green and White Hoops. That is enough for the SFA to ban them from the Play -offs.

    Cheerio for now.

  19. Saint Stivs

I very rarely predict where and when Celtic and Sevco will drop points but I predict that they will at unexpected times.

I agree with the St. Mirren guy that, if I was looking for the prototype team to frustrate both Celtic & Sevco, I would choose St. Mirren and Killie (Aberdeen & Hibs have the attackers to upset both teams but neither has a reliable defence).

Killie managed a win in their first game back in August against Beale’s Rangers and have generally been competitive v Der Hun but St. Mirren have lost by 3:0, 2:0 and 1:0 in their 3 fixtures v them. They will need to improve yet again to make my prediction right.

On the downside, I see Cantrell returning to a bit of form and Sima back from injury to strengthen them. Sevco defence, however, is just as unconvincing as ours.

In Toby Jug. hun pub, you can tell by the smell and their eyes are too close together. And that’s just the women.

  21. BRRB

Weird thing to remember but I think the Toby Jug were the Kirkintilloch/St Ninian’s young team back in the 80’s. Used to ‘battle’ with the Lenzie Troops.

Anyone confirm or is my memory playing tricks again?

This myth,Tavernier is terrified of him,is just that.Last Celtic Park game,he scored two,and delivered 10 crosses into our area.No ign of being terrified.

    ———

2 goals in a game Rangers lost 2-1?

  23. TLWIO

Probably the game a year ago. 3-2 to us. He got a free kick and a back post header, neither was Maeda’s fault

  24. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Reporting Scotland “Political Correspondent” just said Hamza Yousaf dissolving a formal partnership might damage the relationship between the two parties.

    Such insight.

Genuine question – why does the British Army need horses?

Does the spirit of Haig live on?

  26. Yes. Why do they need horses.

There should be one Calvary and one band.

Regimental and regional bands are a waste of taxpayers money.
