“Negligence and unprofessionalism” unwise pre-match words

194

I know none of you take this stuff seriously, but I’d been feeling a bit exposed with yesterday’s “Determined by Dundee” blog.  Newco won 0-5 there earlier in the season and have a vastly superior squad to Dundee, but winning when it really matters is difficult.  You can sense when a side are a tad short in this department, and Newco definitely made this a worthwhile punt.

Tony Docherty would have had his easiest team talk as a manager before last night’s game; Phillipe Clement did all his spade work.  “Negligence and unprofessionalism” are words that land a punch.  True or not, they are enormously disrespectful and gave Dundee a binding cause.  It was a schoolboy error from the latest iteration of guru-soon-to-be-worst-mistake-ever.

Now Phil has to ride the toxic fruits of his labour.  Angry and entitled football fans blaming him or his team for the happiness you and I enjoy, and which they are denied.  If only he had been nice to Dundee things might have turned out different.  Let’s hope he finds somewhere nice when he moves on in the autumn.

I’m a jinx, whenever I turn the TV onto a Newco game, they score, so I stayed on Man City – Real Madrid until a wave of texts lit up the phone.  “0-0 FT”!  City-Real are two great teams who served up a classic encounter.  So much to talk about but one moment stood out.

With City leading the penalty decider 1-0, Bernardo Silva tried a Panenka but got it horribly wrong and shot weakly into the keepers’ hands.  Silva, though, had been made to wait at the spot for 40 seconds, but in the context felt like an age, until a City fan returned the ball to the pitch.  The player had terrible preparation for his kick.

Think of the most stupid act you can imagine, and one clown will soon redefine your expectations.

  1. Alec McNair was “a self-confessed Rangers supporter and thorough light blue” prior to his signing for the club. Celtic managed to nab him from under their noses as Rangers dithered in picking him up. Celtic’s gain that few could ever have imagined at the time.

Any fines yet for bottle throwing???

Exactly and many more misdemeanours, if I was a Dundee lawyer I would be looking at that and other occurrences which went unpunished. This is not a trivial amount and here’s another belter, where did they find this rule?!?

“In addition, £36,429.60 is payable as compensation to the SPFL for television and pitch specialist costs”

McCowan from Dundee was outstanding, worth keeping an eye on,Tony Docherty spoke well after the game, he wouldn’t have been short of motivational sound bites pre match

    _____

Others have said that McCowan was excellent last night. Will check him out next week. Greenock bhoy, I think.

  6. A or B?

A : sevco have bottled it and collapsed

    Both . Although I would put B before A.

Our terrible run and injury problems put them in a flatteringly false league position , then when the real Celtic began to waken from their slumbers , the huns bottle crashed .

  8. Why does the bbc football scotland have ‘luck’on their tags twice in reference to poxco ?

  9. yeah glen – and we’re only just emerging form the injuries – calmac is nowhere near 100 %

    In BR I trust

cos the hills have eyes said so in the interview last night on the tv interview

Certainly worth an appeal,it is a material amount to DFC,just cant understand fining when they could link it to pitch improvements and ensure they are done.but i suppose a jaunt to Euros has got to be paid for!!

  12. From Trident666 on FF –

Middle to front was an absolute abomination, Sima, Silva, Roofe, Cantwell, Lawrence, Lundstram, absolute dugmeat every single one of them, then we have The Charge of the Shite Brigade Dessers, Matondo and Dowell, I thought I was tripping watching it at times

  13. And the keeper made some very good saves (I can only remember 1)

And their training was disprupted due to non world class breakfasts

  14. The huns played a long ball game last night

Big punts for most of the game that the dundee defence ate up

lawrence and lundstrom are rotten in midfield

the front 3 were really poor and never really improved with the subs

The pressure is defo getting to them

So much so I expect hearts to dunp them out the cup

If they dont it will be due to a dodgy penalty and red card

Thats the only way hearts dont thump them

  15. The Chaser just picked Rangers as the team whose ground means Dung Heap …. Nothing going right for the Hun

  17. Superbru Round 33 update

In a gameweek that saw Sevco drop points in 2 different games, it may be difficult to stop laughing long enough, to take note of these less important results but, since we’re heading into the home straight now, they remain important to some of our contenders.

Our best performer in this round continues his manic performance of being top one week and near the bottom in the following week. He still has an impressive amount of weekly number one positions. Those who routinely predict calamity for Sevco were well rewarded with points this week and we are all genuinely pleased for them and us.

    Top 3 this week were:-

    1. Bada Bing- 13.5 pts

    2. Kolncelt- 12 pts

    3= Scaniel & McCaff- 11.5 pts

At the non-league end of things, we see 3 of our overall Top 10 leaders (and Auldheid) in the bottom 4:-

    1. Call Me Gerry- 2.5 pts (a wooden spoon for a former winner)-

    2= Bognorbhoy, Leggy & Auldheid- 3 pts

Regular bottom dwellers like Friedorfer, BelmontBrian63, The LurkinTim, Cosy Corner Bhoy, Aipple & Chalmersbhoy were catapulted to the heady heights of 44th, 6th(???), 37th, 25th, 20th & 59th respectively.

Nobody predicted the Sevco v Ross Co. match accurately but fitbabhoy’s 2:1 prediction was the closest of the 5 who predicted the win. Nobody predicted a scoreless draw at Dundee Swimming Baths but 11 predicted 1:1 and 6 more went for 2:2. Eight optimists went for a Dundee win and could easily have been proven correct.

Overall, heading into the final 5 gameweeks, we have a runaway leader sprinting into the home straight :-

    1. One Malloy- 219.5 pts

    2. Billy Bhoy- 208.5 pts

    3. BC Milan- 204 pts

Despite a better week, the Houston Lepel (Dutch) contenders remain very familiar:-

    1. Friesdorfer- 112 pts

    2. Chalmersbhoy- 122.5 pts

    3= BelmontBrian63 & Aipple- 125 pts

We have a break with SC semi-finals this weekend but our next set of predictions are due by Saturday 27th for 4 matches with a 3 pm kick off, before ourselves and our Old Infirm rivals have Sunday fixtures.

We can stop laughing in time for that and get our serious faces on. Till then:-

I did think of you when Buckie went top :-))

  21. Paul67,

I never watch or listen to them, no matter who they are playing, because I feel I will be a jinx to their opponents and because I always want them to be hammered.

So, knowing last night’s result, I watched Sportscene earlier. I know it was only edited highlights but it looked as if the deid team outplayed Dundee. Would that be a true reflection of the gemme or it that just another example of BBC Scotland’s sports department’s bias?
