My granny’s full cousin was Jimmy McGrory, In 1967 I went with the Boys Guild one Sunday for a tour of Celtic Park and to see the trophy. Jimmy was a kind of tour guide, PR man at the tine. My granny said to say to him do you remember Annie ,,,,? He said no!

Alas, I don’t Twit or Tweet, but being a bit old fashioned I think my priorities would be a little bit different, but each to their own and far be it from me to tell anyone what their concerns should be. Just for the record I have been through a lot of hurricanes both in New York and Florida and the devastation can sometimes take your breath away, the pictures don’t do it justice. I wouldn’t even wish it on thems.

Re poppies, I’m all for personal choice, but isn’t there a bit in one of the gospels that says when you’re doing penance you should forget the sackcloth and ashes and just do it privately without making a show? I’m sure the same would hold true for alms-giving.
