The second half last night will be remember for the fact that right back Mikael Lustig came within the width of the crossbar of scoring a hat-trick, while left back Emilio Izaguirre also hit the crossbar – and was caught offside in the centre forward position. The movement and energy levels required for this type of performance cannot be overestimated.
Adam Matthews’ goal on Saturday, when he burst a lung to cover half the field and get on the end of a move as it developed on the opposite wing, is another example of how physically taxing playing for Celtic is right now. And just as importantly, how taxing it is to play against them.
Motherwell competed as best they could before hitting the wall and capitulating.
Kano
I knew the minutes’ applause for Kano was coming last night, but it was a hard moment nonetheless. Sannabhoy read a letter at halftime from Martin’s wife, Carolyn, explaining the family’s appreciation for what the Celtic family did for them.
It’s appropriate for us to return our respect to Kano’s family, and to Sannabhoy and his Kano Foundation colleagues. They got the charity work ball rolling for so many of us. They gave us the opportunity to aspire to become better people.
There’s a link at the bottom of the article to sign-up for CQN11, where the work to build another school kitchen in Malawi goes on. You are part of an incredible community. Be there.
Just a brief note on Honest Dave King’s recent claims. He will become a director of newco Rangers in the event the forthcoming EGM votes him so. I’ve no doubt he will be able to find a NomAd to work with him, not all have the same standards, allowing the company to retain its listed status with him as a director.
It is also true that the SFA cannot stop him becoming a director. They do not have a Fit and Proper test, they have fit and proper criteria, which directorial appointments are measured against after they are appointed.
Despite all we’ve seen in come out of Hampden over the last few years, I would be amazed if the SFA board approved a tax convict and former director of a club which broke tax law, player registration rules and went into liquidation. It’s not even a remotely tenable suggestion.
After the event, the SFA would be in a position to penalise newco Rangers – most probably through a fine – and instruct them to dismiss King. King, of course, has all the humility and self-awareness required to apologise and resign without a fuss. There’s no way he would use his well-marshalled media campaign to try what Craig Whyte and Charles Green did before him – play to the gallery, blame all his ills on an ‘anti-Rangers’ conspiracy.
Note how the media campaign is rolling out King comment and press releases as definitive news, not subjective claims. Note also that Easdale press releases are being covered by the media, but that pantomime-hate figure, Jack Irvine, is being attributed as the source.
Note that Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias are saying nothing. They’re just going about their business. You don’t need crystal balls to see how this one is going to end.
CQN11 St Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance is on Friday 13 March, at the Kerrydale Suite, Celtic Park. The focus of an excellent night’s entertainment will be funding the construction of a kitchen at Chibwata Primary School in Malawi, for Mary’s Meals.

Hi DD,
I first heard them at Balloch where Oasis were headlining, they were easily the best that day.
Glad to hear the good reports from the game last night. There is something about Ronny. ;))
Petec
Ronny is eyeing up a quadruple.
Why not?
Achievable.
DD,
Not impossible, improbable at this time. You have got to believe. I think we will win the Treble in tremendous style, despite what the evil genius says, it will be Brilliant.
When we got to Seville I’m sure we had a winter break, although slightly longer.
If the players react well, and I think we are starting to see some real signs that things are happening, then with the incredible Celtic Park packed, it can only lift these young players even higher. Inter will be a great measure of just where we are.
Not long now until Belfast. :))
Happy birthday Hamilton Tim

If we do get to Warsaw, I’d be very confident of winning it.

For all we know, Ronny Deila is the new and improved Jose Mourinho, nobody knows anything yet. :D
It struck me when he was speaking after Murrayfield, this guy is uber confident about the following season. The guy is building things up just lovely, ably assisted by his excellent backroom staff.
What is the Stars will be Delighted to be proven so wrong, I’m sure.
Neil Lennon said a good while back that you had to have 85% (or something like that) mental strength and the rest footballing ability to play for Celtic.
Ronny early doors was saying that he wants all the players to feel safe and as comfortable as possible under his tutelage.
Then they will produce the very obvious talents that have taken them to Celtic Park. All these players are very good football players but that doesn’t mean to say they are super at every other human emotion, some fans expect that from them because they are highly paid, it doesn’t work that way, I’m afraid to say.

Ronny Deila still hopeful of loan for Martin Odegaard after wonderkid chose Real Madrid
IT takes quite a leap of faith to believe Celtic ever had even the faintest chance of landing the world’s latest teenage sensation, Martin Odegaard, but they certainly gave it a go.
Ronny Deila was the 16-year-old Norwegian’s manager at Stromsgodset and repeatedly told the boy and his father that Celtic would be a good option for his career development. It is a line he will continue to peddle – he would like to get Odegaard on loan one day – but for now, his future is with Real Madrid.
Contract talks with John Guidetti have been put on hold until March or April, “or longer”, said Deila, while the on-loan Swede consider his options. He will be a free agent in May.
The midfielder Beram Kayal, who never became the Celtic player he promised to be after some wonderful early form, is poised to move to Brighton & Hove Albion. These count as relatively routine issues compared to the intoxicating fantasy of pursuing Odegaard.
Celtic kept some elite company when trying to attract the terrifically talented Norwegian international prodigy. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool all wanted him but Odegaard disappointed them all, and Celtic, by signing for Madrid. There were pictures of him on Twitter between Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos after his signing was formally announced, grinning like the Cheshire cat. He will earn £80,000 a week.
“I think it’s an exciting move,” said Deila. “It’s very hyped in Norway. It’s the biggest thing that ever happened I think, the first Norwegian player to join Madrid. It’s a big thing. I’m happy for him. It’s going to be so exciting to see how far he can reach.
“I hoped to get him to Celtic, of course, but I knew it was going to be hard with all the options. I have a good relationship with Martin and his father. They called me the day they chose Real Madrid. I didn’t put much into it. I just said that we’re an option. Here you have a better chance to play. This is a between step to the biggest clubs. This [a loan] could be possible but we want players that we own or can make money from of course. That’s the important thing.”
Real Madrid have fixtures against Real Sociedad, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid and, in the Champions League, Schalke in February. Celtic have a big month of their own, with the Old Firm League Cup semi-final, a Scottish Cup tie against Dundee and Inter Milan in the Europa League coming up. “It is a very big month. I am excited. They are going to be very interesting games.”
Some have said that Aberdeen’s bubble burst when they drew 3-3 with Dundee last weekend after their wonderful run of eight consecutive wins and clean sheets, but Deila did not believe the challenge from Pittodrie was over. “I think they have a very good team. They should be up there. They have had consistency in their team over the period and they have improved. They can win a lot of games.
“It is always when you are up fighting for titles that you have to bounce back quick, you can’t have long periods with bad results. You need to maintain a high level over a whole season. We will see if we can do it and if Aberdeen can do it, and Dundee United, Inverness or whoever.”
It did not escape his attention that Motherwell had played defensively throughout their 4-0 midweek defeat at Parkhead, and he read something into that: “I think that says people fear us more than they did before.”
..
Ps..Talking to a Gunner mate yesterday..He said Chelsea have over 30 Players out on Loan..Oh Dear..

Re – macjay1, he posted a comment during the Hamilton game. Those in-game comments go by so fast but I posted a comment that it was good to have him back on the blog, as I’d not seen him for a while.
I hope he is back soon.

If Celtic get into the CL next season proper (Hopefully by winning the EL) and I really think they will, I reckon there is a good chance that Martin could join us on loan for a season.
Looking forward to watching Celtic destroy that Tribute act next weekend, if the wee mans fitba isn’t clashing at the same Time.
I have liked Ronny D since Day 1……. and now like him even more. He speaks the “way he sees it”. He states publicly what individual players have to do, to make the starting eleven, and keep their place. Not too many managers have done that since Big Jock took over in 1965. Also love his enthusiasm when we get an important win.
I await the abuse from the “glass half empty” supporters.
westies,
I loved the fact Ronny Deila made demands on the players.
He is a Strong person.
Thanks for the insight over Time. I try to listen to Every Ronny interview, he was forthright and Brutally Honest at the start, he then had to muddle things up a bit because of results, to confuse the leading questions no doubt.
I’d urge every Celt to listen to Ronny intently now, I genuinely think he is the Real Deal.
Thanks westies.

67H,
Are you going to watch the game against the Tribute act?
MON the Celts
Hun Skelpers!!!!
We Belong
Money orientated?
Celtic is UNIQUE.
EVERY Celtic fan is as important as any person running Celtic.
Stop the Rock
Time to take it Futuristic, certainly not Holistic.
It’s all about the Bass, and Ronny Deila, IMO,
Ronny will certainly deliver more Trebles than that Bass.
That Bass is the place to be, that is why Ronny D is wanting to be in that place.
Neil done the Hardest Yards
What a team player.
And what a Team he left Ronny Deila.
Ronny is trying to UNIFY like Neil, it is coming Ronny…. 10-0 Sunday.
;))
1-0 is fine,,,,, Binary Finally
Another olde Classic for the olde Night Time DJ’s….
Quality IMO, of course.
God Willing I will be watching Celtic play the Tribute act.
Strange that Madden was called on CQN, noo it is Thompshun, difference?
Bemused to think that Thompshun is considered the best of a “bad lot”.
Scotland needs working class Referees.
Never going to happen because of the Bowling Club/Work thing in Scotland.
Sickened.
It’s a Wonderful Life
HamiltonTim, If you can, I’d like 2 tickets for Dundee. It is Time for Aidan to really get Celtic.
He has never watched Celtic away from the Holy Ground.
