Samaras preparations need a rethink

875

Georgios is hugely important to Celtic on Champions League duty.  His presence and experience is crucial, but his ability to hold the ball up, often the subject of frustration for some in SPL games, is fundamental to Celtic’s chances of playing at this level.

Georgios Samaras hamstring injury, coming late in the first half against Kilmarnock, is a carbon copy of the injury he picked up late in the first half against Berwick Rangers two years ago this month.  Hamstrings mostly to go early in games, or early in the second half, before players muscles are properly warmed and stretched.  It is unusual for a player to get well into a game, when limbs should be stretched, before picking up this kind of injury.  Time for a rethink of the player’s preparations on cold days.

I only saw around 10 minutes of the Scottish Cup tie at Tannadaice this afternoon but was unfortunate to witness Ian Black twice make an offensive hand gesture, once apparently aimed at the Dundee United support.  If he was wearing green  I’m sure he would be dealt with.

Hadnt read this one think it came from the Scotsman around the 31st Jan but was pulled from Newsnow. E-Tims made reference to it found this on a Google search

Rangers have lost out on £6 million after Hampden officials rejected a compensation claim linked to the departure of six former players.

Charles Green believed the club were entitled to transfer fees following the departures of Sone Aluko, Steven Whittaker, Allan MacGregor, Steven Naismith, Kyle Lafferty and Jamie Ness.

The players left under freedom of contract after a newco club was formed. Green had tried to convince the group to sign identical contracts under TUPE regulations, but the players refused.

Green claimed this amounted to a breach of their terms of employment, but an independent tribunal has ruled that Green is not entitled to compensation because the players were within their rights to turn down Green’s offer.

Rangers insist they will take the dispute to court, with a club spokesman saying: “Nothing has been won or lost at this stage and the club will continue with its action.”

Naming dogs after Scottish islands is quite popular. For example, Tiree, Coll, Cara, Muck etc. OK, forget that last one.

  5. Thanks for all the ideas so far. Loving ‘Sami’ but not so keen on Sally. Also like Izzie and Charlie. Need to justify to glasgowbhoy why she should be called Joe Ledley.

    voguepunter,

More articles like that are needed from otherclubs, to stiffen the resolve of their respective chairmen.

Regan’s position is completely untenable now, if he has admitted to both putting cash before integrity and, more tellingly, his unfounded proclamation of Armaggedon.

Instead of protecting the game, he deliberately engaged in undermining it.

A disrepute charge should be the minimum sanction against him.

Dismissal is the only proper action.

I always feel that Dundee Utd are a decent team and should be pushing us. They are way better than ICT, Motherwell, Hibs. They are criminally under performing.

Too late, some clubs have already started down-sizing. Dundee United have freed their manager to make way for a cheaper alternative. They have accepted that they must make savage cuts to their playing squad as they cannot afford to pay those players they already have. Relegation is a distinct possiblility for Dundee United next season, that is; if they survive financially this season. Dundee United are not alone though. Heart of Midlothian, Kilmarnock, St Mirren, and a host of other SPL clubs are also down-sizing. With this down-sizing will come another fall in the standard of the product on display, which will of course result in a further drop in attendances.

@LawTop20: In case of void match results, any claims must come from shareholders of the clubs affected and must establish prejudice

@LawTop20: As stated previously, any association with the oldco and/or club is bound to create a legal basis for future claim

@LawTop20: We conclude that if breaches could be established it is only the SFA and the SPL who could determine and apply sanctions.

Alas I never seen the tribute act get turned over today.

Great to know we will not have to put up with that lot at CP

    this season anyway.

The msm propaganda that nine man sevco went down battling till the end is a sure sign of a hurting Hun on a keyboard.

They are a club in disarray with no clear leadership on or off the park. They have chief exc who is fleecing them and a manager who could not run a bath, overpaid under performing players who are going no where fast and a fan base that are totally delusional.

I’ve got to admit, I am in love with Spain anyway, but particularly northern Spain, the stretch from the Basque country through Cantabria, Asturias, to Galicia.

Brother Walfrid chose the name wisely, for it would create affinity not only in a football context.

The Chieftains, Carlos Nunez, and the locals. This was recorded in a pub in Vigo, Galicia, and the singing you’ll hear – with crackin harmony – is from the locals.
