Under normal conditions, starting the season at home to Hamilton Accies would be welcome as a soft introduction, but anything out of the ordinary is a leveller. We have yet to play a football game and no friendlies are arranged, a situation that will need to change quickly.
Neither team will be fully fit for that fixture on 2 August, a situation that favours Hamilton significantly more than Celtic.
The European qualifiers are sandwiched between fixtures against Aberdeen, Dundee United, Motherwell, Ross County, Livingston and Hibs. Crucially, we are at home ahead of both play-off round legs . There should be scope in these fixtures for Neil Lennon to rest players during this period, without harming our 10-in-a-row quest too much.

I’m not sure history favours Neil Lennon rotating his squad, I can remember some shockers so I’d take nothing for granted.
I suppose it depends on who we’re talking about, playing Rogic for Christie is fine. Playing an unknown Klimala for Eddie could backfire.
What are the stats re favourites playing at home behind closed doors?
Are they more or less likely to win than if they had the back of their fans or does the quality shine through regardless?
European play off ties – getting ahead of ourselves.
Klimala and especially Bayo concern me ,if they are the replacements for French Eddy.
Just imagine if we were to sell French Eddy after the ST renewals are done .
Is it better to renew to help avoid such a situation or would the board sell him ,if the price is right ,any way?
TT
Totally understand the great need for an extended run in Europe for us this season however I would do nothing to sacrifice the prospect of creating history. We all know how easy it is to drop a point or two when our best players are out of the team.
Interesting that the computer has thrown up mostly home games against Top table teams in the early part of the season. Hopefully, the stadiums will be filling up sooner rather than later.
Hope the 16.30 kick off on Sunday is not the future.
I’ve found this info on the Bundesliga….
“Indeed, just take a look at the Bundesliga, the first elite league to return to action from the Covid-19-induced sidelines, where home team win percentages have roughly halved.”

Nothing has changed with Eddy. He’s a Celtic player under contract.
There is a magic number that would make the board pull the trigger and sell but this is all hypothetical right now.
As for the timing, the transfer window hasn’t yet opened and Celtic haven’t received an approach from anybody regarding Edouard or Ajer. I wouldn’t apply any bad faith to that.
If Edouard went, hypothetically, they would certainly sign a replacement. It wouldn’t be left to Klimala and Bayo.
Think Celtic have given up on Bayo anyway.
Happy enough with that start although, as Champions, I thought we would be kicking off the season on the Saturday. I take An Dun’s point about playing all 5 other (provisional) top 6 teams at home in the first quarter…….good thing or bad??? Aaccchhh……just steamroll them Bhoys!

That’s all well and good. But Bayern Munich have a 100% record since returning.
Juventus too.
What does that say about the elite teams?
Celtic’s prep for season kick off started earlier than Accies and had more money spent on it?
I’d hope we are fitter than them on the day.
Hail hail

Camusbhoy….New scheme ? Are you a Cadderbhoy ? Johnny Brannan was a good mate of mine.Majestic Harston. .I think home advantage is not such an advantage without fans in attendance but Celtic tend to do very well away from home domesticly home fans tend to get on the players backs if things ain’t going to plan.
Timaloy,
I agree, I didn’t leave any comment deliberately. I would have thought there would be more analysis including a bigger sample size – the article is a few weeks old and only includes the Bundesliga.
I have thought that BCD games might work in our favour – or perhaps, not work in our closest rivals favour might be a better way to put it.
We have a far better team than the rest of the league, the rangers are a lot closer to the rest in terms of quality. Hopefully their games are much closer. Late goals may be harder to come by without fans willing their team on.
Good to see our name appearing here again… https://www.live-footballontv.com/
The Hand of God, the new scheme is the houses next to the canal in Milton, if it is the Johnny Brannan that was off school for almost a year then repeated the year he was in my class for 1st year
Of course Hamilton, Livingston and Kilmarnock still have their artificial pitch home advantage gggrrrr
Hand of God,
We will lose the advantage of our travelling fans loud support too
Taken the plunge to book flights from Dublin for the 1st Sevco game.
It’s always a gamble on price if you wait for Sky to finalise the time and date so i always book early Sat /late Sun anyway.
extra gamble here is whether i will be able to go to the game when over and also if i will have to quarantine when i get back.
my work has a new rule that you only get one ‘let’ on travel abroad, i.e., if you go away and get quarantined, you work from home for 14 days. After that you don’t get paid if you have to work from home
We were talking about going away as a family at the end of Oct so it might be too risky to fly for the game in the same month
On the upside, i got the flights for €70 so not the end of the world if i don’t fly.

Majestic Harston. ..I guess like so many other things at the moment no one really knows how the new season is going to go but the way I look at it is that it’s football matches and we most certainly have the best squad so should prevail in most games. No excuses.
PSG have announced they will be playing Celtic on the 21st of July. Hopefully, we add a couple more fixtures on to that.
Lenny has said that Fosters time to OK the loan deal, which Celtic and Southampton agreed on,is now up.Time to forget him,and move on.Cant see us signing a keeper from St Mirren, etc.Of the goalies playing their trade in Englandshire, big Marshall, die hard Tim,knows what’s at stake, would be my choice, but if anyone reads my posts, then it would have to be the giant Greek keeper out of all of them.Keep reading that Hammond is a great admirer,so at 5 million Euros, cheaper than Foster, with his club willing to sell, cant see a better option.
Great 1st quarter in the fixtures.Hopefully these games in France will go ahead,
Lenny playing public hardball it seems with FF. That’s a kick in the knackers for TIAR but hopefully the recruitment team earn their corn. A very rich 3rd choice keeper for the next 2 seasons over a still-rich, first choice one, who will play a major part of making history with us.

I think I may leave any possible Beer drinking until tomorrow or Wednesday AFTER I have actually spoken to Pubs on the phone first, as I wish to avoid walking around any distance, only to be refused service etc if the Pubs are operating at COVID Capacity ?
Being one of the auld bassas etc, I am NOT too keen to being told to stand in a Queue, for God knows how long just to get a drink.

Camusbhoy… I’m from Scalpay St. Milton although I moved from there in 1989..nice and handy for the school.
Sorries, part of my earlier post was on twice….accidently.
I might even wait until 15TH July til my local Pub re opens and I can sit inside. Ive never really been a fan of drinking and/or eating outside.
I enjoy the atmosphere of inside a Bar especially if I am on my own. I may be more happy to drink in a beer garden if I had some good Celtic company with me ?
R.I.P. Enrico Morricone….91 years young. I just loved his music over the years. I used to have “For a Few Dollars More” as my ringtone for a while.

The English Derby was a complete joke on Saturday.
Ive never been so angry about losing money since the Jockey Greville Starkey messed up big time on “Dancing Brave” in 1986.
Starkey had his 2/1 Favourite in last place all the way round, and then left it just to late to catch the winner. I lived and drank and worked near Charing Cross at that time and just about everyone had backed the Favourite that day.
As for Saturday, my selection was “English King” from a few weeks ago in a Ante Post Treble…and I also backed the horse yet again on Saturday morning. I dont mind losing money as I only bet what I am happy to lose, but my jockey was Frankie Dettori….and he was guilty along with several other jockeys on well backed horse who allowed the winner and the second to get miles in front, with little or no chance of catching those two horses.
In other words my Jockey ( and others) NEVER put their horse in the race…so thousands of punters were left short changed.
I know anything can happen in a horse race…but Saturdays farce was a complete anti climax, and I am sure that I wasnt the only punter left shocked and angry all over the UK.
I know my horse might NOT have won if the race had been run properly etc, and I wouldnt mind that, but when your horse isnt even “Put in the Race” due to negligence by the jockey then thats what is so frustrating about that shambles.
Dettori and the other jockeys should have been fined at least.
Their lack of action and riding sense, made a mockery of the race.

Due to Covid19 not even sure when the transfer window closes there has been mention of an extension, apart from the obvious need for a new Number One goalkeeper there are a few in the trimmer squad that will be off on loan e.g. Jack Hendry Anthony Ralston Maryan Shved?
I’m sure we’re monitoring Motherwell’s David Turnbull for centre mid, we’re very unsettled at full back but unless we offload someone then I doubt we’ll spend more money in that area.
Up front provided we hold on to Eddy then Griffiths Bayo and Klimala should be good enough back up for a side, that generally plays one striker.
Midfield is well covered, if Soro makes an impression, but if the right players become available we’ll take players for any positions and when the EPL and other Championship finish up there might be one or two surprises.
