CELTIC have been drawn to face St Mirren in Paisley in the Scottish Cup Fifth Round.
Coincidentally, the Hoops played Stephen Robinson’s side at the same stage in the tournament last season on their way to completing a world record eight domestic trophies with a 3-1 win over Inverness Caley Thistle at Hampden on June 3.
Last time around, Celtic beat the Buddies 5-1 in the east end of Glasgow with Reo Hatate claiming a double – one from the penalty spot – and singles from Daizen Maeda, Matt O’Riley and Oh Hyeon-gyu.
Earlier in the day, Brendan Rodgers notched his THIRTEENTH successive victory in the competition as he watched the holders overcome gallant Highlanders Buckie Thistle 5-0 at rain-lashed Parkhead.
ACTION REPLAY…Brendan Rodgers looks again at Luis Palma’s strike for No.4 on the dug-out monitor.
It was a satisfying day for the Irishman as Odin Holm and substitute Rocco Vata scored their first goals for the Hoops.
Also on target were Paulo Bernardo, the on-loan Benfica midfielder getting the opener in the 25th minute, Kyogo Furuhashi and Luis Palma.
The Japanese hitman also had a strike ruled out after VAR intervention as did Greg Taylor and Liel Abada, starting his first game since September.
The champions now have a rest before they go into action on Saturday and once again they will be at home as they take on Highland opposition with Ross County the visitors as they continue their quest for their twelfth title in 13 years.
