“Scepovic can’t get off the bench when Celtic can’t biuy a goal’

Hugh must think St Jo won 1-0, and they wonder why people mock them

  2. 79 caps

Totally agree with your post re Matthews’ throw-in.

Watching it thinking, whit’s he daein’ taken it quickly, in our own half?

Hope he gets well told by RD.

Could’ve cost us 2 points in a game in which we were cruisin’ to victory, after so much good play.

    Use yer brain, son!

  3. Let the Utd hype bandwagon get into full swing. Snide all about our frailties.

    Horrible bitter wee men.

Mon the Hoops. Rd is the Mhan

  4. afternoon all CQNers

i’m pretty gutted, was busy up till now with some family stuff so set the SKY box to record, got comfy with a cheeky glass of red and hit the play button to see a ‘call the broadcaster to upgrade your subscription’ message.

i cancelled my sports package around a month ago in protest at the hunbelievable anti Celtic bias from the hurting huns Tanner and McCann and it kicked in today GRRRR

is there any links to the goals and also Ronnys Roar please, thanks in advance

i must say i was a big critic of Ronny to start with, he’s won me over now and to all those who posted here saying give him time to come good etc i doff my hooped beanie cap

  5. Ronny putting on Stokes .in my view kind of slowed down the game

Guidetti would have been a better choice

but at the end of the day its 3,points.and that’s all that.matters.

    After St Johnstone scored

“That’s Celtic’ s weakness, they are always suspect at losing a goal even though they have had 8 clean sheets in a row”

and they wonder why people mock them

  7. Game should/could have been over in the 1st 45 IMHO

StJ played out their skins today but were full of dirty tackles (no surprise there then) i cant see a place for Stokes in this team at all.

    3 pts and a 4/1 win on Griff’s goal……………………beer tokens r uz,

  8. The radio were definitely at a new low to avoid giving us any kind of complement in any shape or form.

    Great week Bhoys.

RD very honest in after match interview.

Like you, I thought JG would have been a better option, but I suspect that it was partly man management…. RD seems to be a loyal guy … you work hard for him, and he will treat you fairly ….Stokes was one of the first of the old guard to really take to RD’s style and level of effort demanded …. AS is not my favourite player when played on the left, but RD obviously feels (and I agree) that he has earned a place….

  10. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

Haven’t read back, but I suppose it has all been said.

However, I have paid my 2d, so here goes.

After the midweek muddy mire of Maryhill, fatigue was going to be a factor here.

As the first half wore on, we became sloppy in possession and finished the half poorly.

We began the second half sloppier and gave St.J a bit of heart.

As often happens, it is difficult to pick up your game when that happens.

Apart from Brown, our midfield fell out of the game, notwithstanding Johansen’s brilliant goal.

Armstrong suffered from second game syndrome and his performance echoed his statements re the level of fitness at Celtic Park. He will soon get up to speed.

GMS worked hard and showed great courage against the agricultural nature of some of the challenges.

Our subs didn’t do much to lift our gsme, particularly Henderson.

However, over the piece and taking all the factors into consideration, not least perhaps one eye on Thursday, it was good to come away from Perth with three points and the clean sheet bubble now out of our minds.

  11. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

paul mcmullan has scored for stenhousemuir. He’s in good scoring form for our developement team and for Stenny.

  12. less than impressive today, but a wins a win and all that.

im hearing that the Inter milan game will be a sell out crowd, im surprised to hear that, but it should be a great lift to the team to see the stadium full for probably the first time this season.

Even though inter are struggling, i dont think its the greatest Celtic team we have seen either, but its a good opportunity for RD to put some of the early season Euro nightmares behind him.

i would like to say thats its a good opportunity to assess the level we will be at, when next seasons CL qualifiers come around again, but im not sure that we will not see some significant player changes before then

  13. Whilst on break at work, I thought I’d give my thoughts on today’s game.

3pts – most important positive today.

Saints deserved there goal for the pressing they done throughout. Our back line were pressed more than usual, often resulting in us losing possession.

Thought we were complacent today, especially after 2nd goal.

Didn’t think CG looked too clever at their goal so if he gets MOTM it shows how little any outfield player stood out.

Griffiths (1 goal & 1 assist) a contender for MOTM, though SKY give it to Biton?

One thing to come out of today – it may calm down the over-optimists who we’re practically writing off Inter Milan next thu !

    Anyway, my expert (!) review…

CG – little to do. Commanded his box for crosses . Could have done better than direct ball into danger area at goal, even allowing for deflection. Redeemed and more with 2nd save of late dbl save.

AM – played like someone who is only keeping place warm for ML. Lunged in and sold himself positionally in lead up to their goal.

JD – looked out of sorts throughout 1st half. Better 2nd half.

    VVD – strolled it

EI – usual steady self. Not unduly troubled (except when caught too far forward – but that’s nature of our play)

NB – great pass for 1st goal. Strolled it ala VVD…verging on complacency

SB – in and out of game. Anonymous for long spells, then pops up in good positions, but no final ball.

SA – good 1st half. Industrious, with good touch and always looking for ball. Faded badly 2nd half.

SJ – another who can run and run, though little came off for him – bar his excellent play at 2nd goal. Strayed too far forward as game wore on – giving them more space to play which they did.

GMS – similar to SA, with great attempt in 1st half, but less impact as game wore on.

LG – great start and kept it going 1st half. Could have scored more. Another who faded 2nd half.

AS – a strange sub by RD? Takes off central striker and brings on a guy who’s played out wide of late and has never shown up to be a lone striker – whilst leaving JG on bench????

Tried to link up play, but nothing came off with others fading out of game.

LH – eager worker, tried hard also, but like AS, found his teammates tiring around him.

EA – brought on as RD realised pts could be dropped here, as only one team threatened (not us!). His best contribution was the fact AM moved into midfield, to combat their supply from left wing.

Overall, I think our terrific early pressing game came back to bite us in ar$€, as we tired as game wore on, whereas they played the full 90.

RD still got work to do on fitness levels, perhaps, and not only with two new guys?
