  1. 3 v 1 and we are so sloppy ….the poorest we’ve been for a long time …probably the surface is having an affect …

  2. 3 v 1 and we are so sloppy ….the poorest we’ve been for a long time …probably the surface is having an affect…Reo Hatate not at the races….

  3. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Good stuff.

Barely broken sweat and have scored three goals in a half.

What does that say about Ange’s machine?

    Downsides?

    – Going underfoot is soft.

    – Ref is bad (normal)

    – Weak goal conceded

    Time for tea

The refereeing is shameless. Constantly breaking up our okay, awarding non-fouls, penalising CCV on the edge our box whilst in possession and even booking Jota for persistent fouling! All whilst St J have apparently only committed 2 fouls as a team… whilst losing 3-1! And still they can’t stop us.

3 good goals and 1 very poor performance.

Maybe it’s the pitch, but some of our players look slow and half asleep.

Hatate has been dreadful and Jota not much better.

Hopefully a 4th early in the second half and back down the road.

  6. Happy to be 3 goals to the good. The pitch is the same for both teams.

On today’s showing, Johnston isnt markedly better than Raldo.

Our mids not much better than the St Johnstone player Daniel Phillips, who has real presence in that mid area.

I remember saying Aaron was a bit one-paced; who needs pace with a tough like his ??

We just look a bit ‘aff it’, so far.

  7. Half-time Celtic have had 69% possession yet have conceded 9 free-kicks for fouls to St Johnstone’s 2.

In view of recent posts on this apparent anomaly I paid particular attention to each free-kick conceded by Celtic.

At least 7 of those free-kicks were conceded due to St Johnstone players throwing themselves to the ground at the slightest contact from Celtic players.

This is clearly a deliberate tactic when teams face Celtic.

  8. Away in Perth against a team giving it a real go on a poor pitch that’s making everyone double think everything

We’ll make fewer but better chances in a game like this, for all our passing hasn’t been great we always look like scoring.

The technical ability of Mooy, Kyogo and Calmac is shining through. The defences are doing very well with the one lapse

A booking for persistent fouling against Jota shows a now very familiar tactic bearing fruit.

  9. 3 goals in a tough away pitch to a tough opponent and still we are poor somehow.

    Pitch and ref to overcome.

  10. Jota needs to be very careful…this MIB will not need an excuse…he his blowing for fouls to them at every time they go down….

  11. Are we adopting a deliberate save energy strategy.

We have not broken sweat, yet we lead 1-3. Ange is a thinker and thinks ahead for more testing times

    Just can’t get enough. HH.

  12. Good score at HT.

A few good chances created; 3 taken; clinical finishes.

Apart from that (sounds greedy now) but we’ve not played great. The space we are allowing them in our half has led to too many opponents having time to pick out a cross into our box. Only a matter of time before it leads to Hart getting tested, if that continues.

Hatate’s touch and passing is woeful so far. Jota doing very little, apart from that one moment of genius when he laid on for Mooy. That’s what he’s there for, I suppose. Without Jota, we don’t create that 3rd goal. Yet it’s frustrating watching our play slow down or end when he receives the ball.

I’d give Reo and Jota 15 mins max, then sub them. Keep them fresh for the next game. Give others a run out. Maybe Haksabanovic and Iwata.

  13. Ps – can’t jump on the bandwagon re the ref. Thought he had a solid 1st half, imo.

Rather than criticising the ref for giving 9 fouls against us, why not single out each and every foul, then tell us why it shouldn’t be given.

I saw Jota concede numerous clumsy fouls. All within a short timeframe. So no issue with him getting carded for it. I’d hook him as a precaution. He can’t tackle a fish supper, especially on that surface. So he’s likely to concede more.
