Taylor and Johnston’s importance to Celtic

214

Celtic’s defence had to cope with another injury on Saturday: Liam Scales missed out with Maik Nawrocki stepping in, but as a unit, they are solid with Greg Taylor, Alistair Johnston and Cameron Carter-Vickers in place.

It was fitting that Johnston got an assist for Reo Hatate and Kyogo’s goals, the second a particularly satisfying cross.  He is back on the form we saw when he first arrived in January last year.  Decision making, energy levels and end product have all ticked up since the winter break.

Both fullbacks were missing in February, then returned to build up match fitness in a team in a mini crisis.  It was a lesson on how fragile form can be when players are even 10% short of sharpness.

The injury to Daizen Maeda poses a different challenge.  Luis Palma returned to action after six weeks out and, for my money, looked like he has work to do and perhaps a few pounds to shift.  Yang didn’t look comfortable on the left on Saturday, so until Daizen recovers or Luis gets miles under his belt, I expect Greg Taylor has a lot of running to do, especially on the big open spaces of Hampden.

The two fullbacks are among Celtic’s most important players.

Better idea if you email P67 and ask him to check that himself

And also add in the plugin Wordfence (if not already there) as wordfence (even on the free version) stops attacks that may be like this

My website got hacked daily, and stopped until I insalled the free versionof this

Recommended by a web security expert (who is a tim – thanks Paul if you are reading!)

More likely tho, its the ad network (or a particular advertiser) that has got hacked

If the site had been hacked most of the comments would be like floatings

Interesting stuff re Victor. He played the drunken Irishman character a few times.

AT : A game at Tannadice, I remember him throwing up on the pitch before the game started. I remember him scoring a goal and hearing supporters say after the match about him gesturing, but I was behind the goal and didn’t see it gor myself, do not sure.

David Hay signed him I think at a time when Judas was doing well for Thistle. I think it was after Nicholas had fecked off to Arsenal.

His father was a blue nose who coached Eastercraigs and his mother was from a Celtic supporting family.

Am fine with my security Clunks, there are better ways to get info, whatsapp etc

Its just one of the hazards of runnin a free access site like this.all individuals can do is secure their own access, doubt Paul will do anythin now as access is 4 pages or so with matchday peaks, its a pity tho, still a lot of great Celtic folk on.

  11. I know it’s a long shot but I’m coming back to Scotland from Australia on the 10 May 24 for a holiday with my disabled son. Looking to buy a couple of tickets for any of the last 3 games. I have contacted the Celtic Disabled SLO but looking elsewhere as well. Hail Hail

  18. To earlier Poster …..

KEN CURTIS was the Lead Singer with a ” Troupe” called ” THE SONS of PIONEERS”.

KEN ( who died in 1991…I think ? ) had ONE of the BEST MALE singing voices that I have EVER heard.

In the film ” RIO GRANDE”…Ken and the ” SONS of PIONEERS” whilst appearing alongside John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara and Victor Mac Glagan, played UNION SOLDIERS.

This Fantastic Troupe ( Led by KEN CURTIS) sang TWO Songs directly to Maureen O’Hara’s character called ” KATHLEEN”. ” KATHLEEN was John Waynes wife in the Film.

They SUPERBLY Sang…” I’ll Take You Home Kathleen” and ” The Bold Fenian Men”…with both songs bringing a tear to a glass eye…….SUPERB Singing.

Have a look at the Film ” RIO GRANDE”….its worth just to hear the ” SONS of Pioneers” Singing superbly….Especially Ken Curtis.

Ken Curtis also played ” FESTUS” in TVs ” GUNSMOKE.

He was also in the Film ” The Quiet Man”…where he sings a couple of songs, including ” The WILD COLONIAL BOY”….He was just a FANTASTIC Singer and in his early career he was ” Back Up” to Frank Sinatra, when both were signed up to The ” TOMMY DORSEY BAND”.

    HH.

  19. You can watch and listen to KEN CURTIS singing via YOUTUBE.

For starters, just type in ” RIO GRANDE” and take it from there…….IF you don’t wish to watch the whole Film ?

  20. Phishing alert last night was a false alarm. I apologise if I caused any concern.

I have tried several times to re create the popup which concerned me and I have worked out what the problem was.

My face recognition to use my saved password for cqn on my iPhone was not recognised

It is normal for the iPhone to ask for a passcode in the event of face recognition not working.

There is clearly no evidence of a problem on the site.

Just me being a dumbass 🥴

  21. In the Film ” RIO GRANDE”, when Ken Curtis and the SONS of PIONEERS start to sing ” The Bold Fenian Men”….the character playing the tough Irish Sargeant was/IS VICTOR McGLAGAN who played ” Sargeant QUINCANNON.

Big Victor…” Sgt QUINCANNON” is GREETIN all the way thru the the Song.

He was the Big Rough/Tough Irish Sgt who ALL of his men were shit scared of….but he starts to CRY as soon as Ken Curtis and his Singing Troupe begin to sing ” The Bold Fenian Men”..

Priceless stuff from ALL the cast in ” RIO GRANDE”

    HH.

  22. But just think how much better the world would be if everyone who c@cs up held there hands up and apologised.

    Never humble for long…

  23. RIO GRANDE..

    OOPS…MY apolgises.

When Ken Curtis and his Troupe of Union Soldiers ” The Sons of Pioneers”…sing ” THE BOLD FENIAN MEN” it is aimed at General Ulyses Grant….NOT to Maureen O’Haras character Kathleen….although she is present throughout.

IF watching via YOUTUBE….The song ” The Bold Fenian Men” MAY come up as ” DOWN BY THE GLENSIDE”….which are the first line of the song.

    HH

  24. Not so sure our defence is all that solid CCV or no. The Saints could have had 1-2 goals at le weekend before we scored. Our Glasgow rivals scored three, (including a soft penalty) their first equaliser from shocking play from McGregor, (who should not have been on the pitch while fit players left on bench) and their second equaliser, a fine finish from wide left. For those that think no Celtic spectators were allowed into Ayebrokes, well there were a couple on the park at that point. Of course we should defend as a team, but there are better teams than St Mirren to play in the SPL run-in. Good set of fixtures by the way, highlight being a Saturday 3pm ko agin Hearts on May 4. Hope that does not get changed but the SPL does not control its’ fixtures so we will have to wait and see, Sky does not care a damn for our travelling support.

Don’t think Aberdeen have the firepower to trouble us at Hampden not like they did in the Tam Rogic final but you never know. Cannot see it though, solid or no.
