CELTIC will bank a £5million cheque from Spurs in compensation for luring Ange Postecoglou to London.

The 57-year-old Greek-Australian is poised to end his two-year association with the treble-winners and have his move rubber-stamped today before leaving for a family holiday.

Postecoglou was on a 12-month rolling contract at the Hoops and was granted permission by the champions to talk to the struggling Premier League club who have no European football to look forward to next season after finishing a dismal eighth in the top flight.

Antonio Conte was fired by the club in March and chairman Daniel Levy has missed out on a couple of original targets before setting his sights on the Parkhead gaffer.

Postecoglou has agreed a two-year deal, with a further year option, according to a report in the Scottish Sun.

In the meantime, Celtic have stepped up their hunt for a successor.
