Urgency behind SFL plan

812

Dictionaries across the English speaking world will need to be updated for the term ‘loose cannon’, currently- noun, a person whose reckless behaviour endangers the efforts or welfare of others.  In future they should be appended, ‘Charles Green’.

For months Charles has been busy telling anyone who would listen to him that his The Rangers club will never appear in the Scottish Premier League.  Now, he has told the world the Scottish Football League are set to propose reconstruction which would see the end of the SPL and create one fewer step between his new club and top flight football.  He told TalkSport, “I understand that the Football League [presumably he means the SFL]on Wednesday are having a meeting of clubs and it’s the intention of the executive to unveil what they think would be a restructuring plan for Scottish football.”

Green is one of the few from the SFL who have had anything to do with the plan, few were aware of it until his announcement yesterday.  I hear the other architects of the plan inside the SFL are chief executive, David Longmuir and Airdrie United director, Jim Ballantye.  My source also told me SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie was “in on the ground floor with the SFL plans”.  They will all, surely, be frustrated that Green was out there with the news before the league were.

As STV today reported, the SFA have set a deadline of 30 November for the leagues to agree a reconstruction plan, “threatening they would instead push through with their own plans to bring about change by the 2013/14 season if an agreement could not be reached”.  That’s next summer!

Timing here is everything, and is urgent.

The SPL Commission will soon convene into Improper Registration of Players at Rangers…
the predecessor club of The Rangers…
whose SFA membership The Rangers benefited from in order to compete in league football with less than three years accounts…
and who consequently are liable for penalties served on Rangers.

If found guilty, and no one is holding to the pretence otherwise anymore, the consequences for The Rangers are enormous.  Forget about the inevitable stripping of titles, this is of historical consequence only, prize money [of circa £15m]will also be reclaimed and a punishment levied.

As I have said before, the toxicity of the old club is simply not viable to continue with.  Newco Rangers either have to start from scratch, or the structures of Scottish football need to brought down with any penalties due wiped from the slates.

The Rangers share prospectus, now overdue, will have to detail these risks to the company unless an alternative narrative can be agreed and presented.

The chances of the SPL giving this Longmuir, Ballantyne and Ogilvie plan serious consideration are remote.  It is a nonsense, will be rejected by the SPL and may even face opposition from those clubs within the Scottish Football League who stand to benefit from the change, but will find the motivations behind it unsupportable.

Scottish football is enjoying a well-earned renewal this season, no thanks to the game’s administrators, but the serious allegation, that many leagues and cups were won for over a decade by a club which was paying players against the tax laws of the country and against SFA, SPL and Fifa regulations, has yet to be resolved.

Until we know the truth, hear the consequences, know that those responsible are no longer in control of the game and have been banned for life from future involvement, there can be no talk of expedient change.

STV’s revelation that the SFA have imposed a 30 November deadline is the greatest illustration yet why “heavily conflicted” Campbell Ogilvie should have been on garden leave months ago. All those who carried out the duties which led to this shambles, and who have legal responsibility for it, should receive the life ban from the game that was promptly applied to Craig Whyte.

A swift rebuttal of this nonsense with a clearing of the decks is required. There can be no discussions on these matters while inquiries are on-going and those responsible for recent events are still running the game.

Not an expert, but this problem arose when I had my various (totally crap) endowment policies mature AFTER I had paid off the mortgage.

In order to get the money from the endowment I had to prove that I no longer had a charge on my house.

This was easily solved by getting the original mortgage company (Halifax) to contact the endowment company to say that they no longer had a charge on the house.

This was done by e-mail and/or fax and cost me absolutely nothing.

Not sure if your solicitor is at it or not, might be worth asking directly?

All of the above applies to an English mortgage – not sure hat the position is in dear old Scotia…..

Depends where you are based. It is possible that a third party, ie not the lender, has somehow managed to attach a lien to your property. This would have to involve a debt of some kind, but not necessarily yours. Any pre-existing charge should have been cleared at the point of sale, ie deducted from the sale price when you purchased, and absent any action on your part this charge will be effected if you sell the property at any time. It is difficult to believe it involves the lender, given that, as you say, the mortgage has been paid, so first ask them if they levied the charge, and take it from there.

  8. Just finishing off the first ever CQN Annual – featuring the very best of CQN Magazine from issue 1 to 11 and some very memorable Blog posts from Paul. Since launching the mag, we have seen Celtic fight back from what some thought was an impossible position to win the league. We regained some credibility for Scottish football with a good showing in the Europa League. We have witnessed the demise of our hitherto biggest domestic rivals and there is no doubt that CQN played a role in exposing the cheating and corruption around this sorry story. More on that from Paul shortly! We have enjoyed Celtic’s return to the Champions League, reaching a new high in beating Barcelona last week. CQN Magazine has looked at these events as they unfolded and also has enjoyed looking back on the club’s honourable 125 years of unbroken history. The CQN Annual has 196 pages and will be available to buy from CQN shortly. And if you have been posting on CQN over the past few days you may well be getting a shout out in the first ever CQN Annual.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago. I had to employ a solicitor to do the business. I think it cost around £200. Apparently it’s compulsory in Scotland. It’s a bit of a rip-off but there you go. I thought I would eventually get the title deeds sent to me but I think they are stored electronically somewhere.

They make it up as they go along. I asked if I could have copy of the title deeds when I bought my house and they told me, no problem, but there’s a £50 admin fee. I said keep em.

A few years later I changed mortgage. Do you want a copy of the3 title deeds they asked. How much I asked. Free of charge!!!!

There’s no particular advantage in discharging the security unless you especially want to.

And if you leave it in place and ever want to borrow money against the property in the future, you won’t have to pay to have a new security created, you just draw down a further advance.

  13. Bookies Pen for a Button on a Blazer

The solicitor originally told me they could keep the deeds for me if I paid a small monthly fee but, when the the whole ‘discharge of security’ process was complete, I heard no more about it. I’m assuming it’s all electronic storage now.

    Where’s ra deeds..where’s ra deeds?

I have just watched the Sevco presentation for investors.

I refuse to believe this is not a fake.

    This is a fake.

It is simply not possible for something of this poor quality to be authentic.

Although I enjoyed the death of the huns and the slow lingering death of the new team the huns want to support, Sevco, I am saying this from an (relatively) objective perspective.

This presentation is crass. It has been put together by someone who knows that presentations are put together on PowerPoint, and has decided to cobble one together.

It has not been done by someone who has experience of putting together presentations, nor someone with experience of how to use PowerPoint effectively – a rather minor skill for someone involved in something as important as a share floatation you would think.

The content is trite, and again, having put together, and sat through many presentations, the content of this one (albeit, we do not have accompaning notes) is purile, bland and superficial.

    This is a fake.

Old Chuckles is a conman, but a conman with pedigree, surely he would be doing this kind of thing right?

So, I say, this is a fake.

If it is not. Well, the sevcovians are in a way darker place than I thought possible. (fingers crossed).

But it must be a fake. Surely?

When the pledges were asked for the other week, I actually made an honest pledge, among the spurious ones, just so that I could get a copy of the prospectus, when I logged on to that thing tonight, my name was there, is that through the computer knowing who is logged on ?

Being a natural pessimist, my default position is that the huns/ sevco will find some svengalli to lead them from the mire, into some utopian world.

However, if that presentation is legit.

Well, unless thet have some ulterior motive for pissing off prospective investors (a la Bialystock and Bloom) – then they are just third rate.

    Third rate or Fake.

    Or a combination of both.

It’s no even 3rd rate, I could have done that, and what I would know about presenting a prospectus that hopes to raise 20 + million, you could write on a pin head.

If it is fake, why haven’t the huns come out and said so ??? after all it’s 20 mill we are talking about !!!

Oh the feckin joy of it all :>)

The security can be discharged at any time if the mortgage is paid off. If the house is sold or transferred to someone else it can be done at that time. It won’t cause any complications. As I say the advantage of leaving it in place is that it’s there if you need to draw down funds in future for whatever reason eg providing a deposit for a child buying a house.

But, getting bored as I’m sure many are will not make it all go away, some sort of justice has to happen, be it the stripping of a few stolen titles, be it their name reduced to farther down the sewer, who knows.

All I know in my heart, is they are cheats and fraudsters, that have no shame, I hope their share issue is taken up, I hope the deluded hoards throw their money into them, cos this time next year, if they last that long the begging bowl will be out again.
