You did this in 2013

1233

Yet again during 2013 we asked you to put your hand in your pocket and you responded as only Celtic fans do.  You raised £6000 before and during the focus of our summer fundraising activity, the annual golf day.  £4500 of this went towards the 1254125 Appeal, which during the year did an enormous amount to anchor the club and support right back to where we came from.  Clic Sargent, who help children with cancer, also benefited at that time.

Thanks also to those who sponsored my 10k at the Great Scottish Run in October to the tune of £1552.  Times remain tight for many, so I the value of your support.

Perhaps the biggest response all year came from the commitment we made to Mary’s Meals to build and kit a kitchen at the Kholoni Primary School in Malawi.  1200 kids are registered at the school but there are no catering facilities, so students go hungry, or simply don’t go to school at all.  Pablophanque’s family sent on the £4500 support they received in 2011 to the appeal, while 470 people booked a seat at the CQteN St Patrick’s Day dinner, with more on the waiting list.  The work we’ll achieve in 2014 will be incredible.

This place can stress and annoy sometimes but it has become a great window into the soul of the Celtic support.

Have a great Christmas and thank you for all your support.

Thank you. I wasn’t going to post over Christmas and that wasn’t down to losing my wife earlier this year. The blog has been hard to participate in for some time now but it’s the Celtic blog I love so it’s hard to stay away.

Would you please remind me of your dad’s name. And hey we’re alright and getting on with things.

God Bless you and those close to you and maybe hold them ever closer this Christmas.

    Seen as its quiet :))

    *The Realization*

When I was young and mad with it selfish to the core Christmas was another party excuse, One night on way out the door I looked at my Da just out the bath getting ready for bed after a day of what seemed like doing what he was told.

On the way out the door I made a mental note to self “whatever you do in life dont end up like that” a proceeded on my way, as the years passed and I met someone who through my long battle with some problems as a result of trying to make myself happy with the help of others calmed me down :)).

As my daughters grew up and got wee glimpses but just ignored them and thought , one day when the weans are up I will enjoy my self to the hilt doing what I want (within reason and with no drink as it has magical powers over me, It turns me into a selfish A******e:)).

So on we go tick tock learning somewhere along the line I notice that the thing in life that makes me the most happy in life is to help others when the chance occurs.

So this year No 2 daughter flew the nest and just as I think what next, today i found that I spent it helping the boss ehmmm wife prepare things for Christmas dinner and getting things ready for the wee mhan tomorrow.

So as I type this im just out the bath getting ready for bed and have never been as contented in my life,In the bath I had the sudden realisation that the metamorphosis is complete and without trying too hardI have turned into my Da:))))

Its at this time of year I miss him the most and thank God that I got the opportunity to put things right with him before he passed away.

As I sit typing this I think of him and the times years ago that even though I may have been in a crowded room I felt alone and my thoughts go to anyone on here who finds thereself for whatever reason alone at this time of year that Y.N.W.A, and again here is a pi** poor attempt at a cyber hug fae me to you ((0)).

So goodnight all and no matter what is going on in your life may santa bring you all your needs and remember the bad times will pass as surely as the good ones do.

Thanks Paul for this site and to all those that I have met through this place and those that I hope to meet one day even the crabbit ones.

I dont even know the point of this only to thanks to my da and all those that I have met on my journey to get me to where I am tonight (boring and contented).

Things have been a wee bit tetchy on here lately but for me it is the best blog out there and I somehow feel connected in some strange celtic family way.

Will i read it before sending naaaaaaaaaaaaaa MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE & ALL

  4. A Merry Christmas Eve to all CQNers!

For the first time in 30+ years won’t be going to midnight mass. Tonight we have a totally empty hoose and we decided to have extra wine plus snifters after dinner so it’s an early morning worship in the morn.

Paul, you said that “You did this ….”. Never forget that you gave us this site/forum and for that we are forever greatful!

Hope that all CQNers have a very happy Christmas and remember that this is the season of goodwill to all, especially fellow Tims.

The greatest gift this Christmas for most of us will be waking up on Christmas day knowing that we are still Tims!! And of course our families. Have a good one everyone.

They’re there, they’re always there and God bless every single one of them.

    Merry Christmas to all Celts.

  6. Would take Lee Wallace, as a squad player, just to rub it into the Orcs once and for all that they are finished as a top level team with their current income v expenditure.

In the current depressed market for Scottish players he certainly won’t go for anything north of 1 million.(particularly from a distressed club desperate for liquid cash)

Then again maybe shouldn’t give Lawell an excuse to punt Matthews or Lustig,if we bought an inferior player.

  7. TinyTim

You’re a good man. But I probably wouldn’t have gained that view simply from reading your posts on CQN. That’s a downside to internet posting but views change when we meet in person.

Best wishes to you and your lovely family.

Right, Scrooge with Alistair Sim (best film directed by an Irishman?) watched, Christmas records by Dylan, Sinatra, Pogues and the MJQ played. Now for the serious stuff , Mass to be gone to, family feuds to hopefully not reignite, too much poultry to be eaten.

My auld da still alive and kicking at 83…..but only realised in the last 5 years how much he went through in his life and kept smiling, never letting the bassas grind him down. It’s great to know that he knows I love him to bits now.The Living Years by Mike and The Mechanics is such a beautiful message to us all.

The bit about being selfish a*******s in drink resonates with me.

I try not to be these days but certain drinks bring out bigger demons than most.

I try to avoid these certain drinks now.

  16. Tiny Tim @ 20:54…

As Mighty Tim posted, Alex Bennett was transferred directly from Celtic to Rangers (1872/3 – 2012) in 1908.

Also in 1906, the now liquidated Ibrox club loaned their goalkeeper, Tom Sinclair, to Celtic (our own ‘keeper Adams was injured) for the start of the season and he returned to his club not having conceded a goal in six matches.

I am sure it will surprise many to know that this feat was not equalled until 1994, when Carl Muggleton kept a clean sheet in successive matches in which he played : v Dundee United (0-0), Raith Rovers (0-0), Hearts (2-0), Kilmarnock (1-0), St Johnstone (1-0) & Hibs (0-0).

    Happy Christmas to everyone.

  17. It is still so difficult to say goodbye, weather nearly 90 years or 65 years or only nearly 1 year.

Your dad Robert is in our prayers now. And of course for the rest of us life needs to continue as was very much in evidence tonight at the Church service I attended with my daughters. So many families in attendance. Mums, Dads, Grandparents and other family members. The church was full to overflowing.
