A week for leaks

1020

This seems to be a week for leaks.  I hear one club recently refunded two investors to the tune of £500k each.  Don’t worry, it wasn’t Celtic, and I hear the club involved are one of the most financially secure in Britain.  I also hear the national broadcaster rejected a former presenter’s request to return to the fold.

Still nothing from the SFA, who were responsible for issuing associate membership to Newco Rangers, on the leak from the club’s board meeting that the Association expressed alarm that earlier information had leaked from chairman, Malcolm Murray.  Mr Murray recently instigated an investigation into the relationship between Craig Whyte and Charles Green, the nature of which could invalidate Newco’s associate membership.

Far from being alarmed at leaks, the SFA should be keen to see full disclosure.  Reports suggesting otherwise are alarming.  I am sure the SFA president has already demanded openness and clarity…….  Relax, standards of corporate governance at the SFA are as high as ever.

I am also sure the leak from Newco was not a shot across the SFA’s bows, providing a glimpse into what looks like some murky conversations which people at the Association could have much to lose from being exposed.

    Who actually wrote that?

It’s complete lies….the had to reduce their ST costs because there is a league maximum cost

Not to mention the freebie tickets they were giving away

  6. If CFC players had failed to clap another team onto the park in similar circs to Saturday we’d have been subject to ridicule in the press

    That’s the difference

    Who’d have thunked it.

They will only need one window open at their season ticket portakabin.

Ya lazy bugger, they said no weight on it, you can still wallow at the swimmies

  9. If they are offering STs, at any price, then it looks like they’ve been assured of a licence.

    Watching Arsenal versus Wigan.

Wigan are no doubt nice to watch, in so much that they try to play attacking football, and more football savvy people from me rate Martinez really highly, so much so, that he will probably walk into another EPL job if they get relegated..

But if you look at the bare facts, here is the position that Wigan have finished in the EPL in the eight seasons since they were promoted. (For this season I have based it on the current score of 1-0 Arsenal)

    PRE Martinez

    2005-06 10th

    2006-07 17th

    2007-08 14th

    2008-09 11th

    SINCE Martinez

    2009-10 16th

    2010-11 16th

    2011-12 15th

    2012-13 18th

Given that he took over an established EPL club, and starts the season with an EPL squad every year, (as compared to the three teams who come up, and have to very quickly change a championship squad to an EPL squad), I don’t actually think his record is very good.

(P.S. to get to the FA cup final this year, in a nutshell, they only really had to beat Everton(Which they did very well)).

    The business case at

assumed no SB increase and same SB sales level. If everything else is correct then they are only £1.3m in red by END of next season. SFA are not going to say no to a licence/membership on that basis, particularly if stadium spending can be postponed.

The immediacy factor of going bust sooner comes from speculation that the cash intake from the share launch is short of what was published. The SFA have presumably got evidence that it as stated and is in liquid form if required.

Phil Mac Giolla Bhain expressed his doubts last Friday at KNoSC but as long as the SFA believe what they are told, it is as you were. Now if we only knew how much was really raised and from where.

Corsicaa98 on Twitter said guys he knows in the share business say it was never from institutional investors but again that is speculation, reasonable but still speculation.

Tiny Tim and I were discussing Martinez the other day

We both consider his league to be very poor

However , winning the cup was massive for him

Did he replace Bruce as the Wigan manager ?

Celtic reduce STs by £100 and introduce range of concessions: MSM say this is an act of desperation driven by falling crowds and the lack of bigots, racists and cheats in the league.

Sevco ‘freeze’ ticket prices: MSM say this is a reward for the loyalty of their supporters.

(Freeze is an interesting choice of word. You may gain the impression that there will be no actual price increase, why not then say that? Because you don’t mean that! Despite the fact that they’ve been ripped off repeatedly by a bizarre variety of spivs, crooks conmen and chancers, the unevolved have yet to realise that these statements of intent (or ‘lies’) – Dallas Cowboys, signings from the Euro 2012 teams, share issue, full enquiry- have a twofold purpose:

    (I) part the sad sacks from their cash

(II) stave off the inevitable calamity that’s heading their way.

  20. fergus slayed the blues

Here was me thinking CG needed the ST price up……….. by 25%?

The cynic in me has this mental picture of PL sitting in his bed (flicking through his signed Kraken Opus) thinking: ‘now what can I do next to really annoy Chuckles and sevco whilst coming across as a nice guy?’

‘I know – we’re in the black lets reward the fans and give Chuckles financial plans a serious kick in the nuts – let’s reduce the STs by £100!’

‘OK dear – I will put the light out in a minute I’ve just got a quick call to make. I’ve got a cunning plan I need to run past Opus Dei.’

Hope this rumour ends up on FF.

    Go figure .

TCC – that’s why I don’t think Martinez will get the Everton gig, even allowing for the cup win. Good going forward, but he can’t organise a defence.

I’ve got Poyet at 33’s for the Goodison Park hot seat….completely unbiased of course! :-)

  24. Cowiebhoy, I used to go up on the PMS in the eighties and know Big Rab and Leo. I was at school with Mick McF.

  25. The gullible Sevco sites are already lapping it up, forgetting to mention the club are losing £1M a month and the ‘record attendances’ were proven to be false by Strathclyde Police and 10-15000 of those who did show up had free tickets.

I agree, as a club, we are better than “thems”, and I would have applauded St.Midden onto the park, but as an individual, there’s no way I would have applauded “thems”!
