The story of the season was all there for us to see at a park in Paisley yesterday.  St Mirren dropped deep, they neither wanted not retained the football, yet they somehow managed to get a kick inside the Celtic Penalty area.

That was enough to knock the ball against Greg Taylor’s arm.  The referee missed the incident but from the moment the replays were shown until play eventually broke for a VAR intervention several minutes later, we knew the penalty was in the post.

St Mirren have the secret sauce to stifle Celtic.  It worked when we last visited in September, 80% possession and a 2-0 defeat.  It worked again in the first half, but Charles Dunne’s red card made holding onto the task impossible.  Kyogo pounced on his short pass back, Dunne brought the stirker to the ground, it was a red card and another correct decision to rescind the penalty award, as Dunne released the player inches from the 18-yard line.

It took 11 second half minutes for Celtic to equalise, 11 minutes with Liel Abada on the field. He looked like a player released from shackles, constantly darting back and forth looking for the ball, always looking for the goal.  For me, he starts on Wednesday.

Great to see Matt O’Riley get a goal too.  There is so much to his game already, regular goals is needed to turn him into the finished article.

So far, so good for VAR.  If a player fouls an opponent while attempting to play the ball and concedes a penalty, a yellow, not a red card should be shown.  If, however, the player fouls while making no attempt to play the ball, the card should be red.  Think back to Jeremie Frimpong in the 2019 League Cup Final.

Alex Gogic grabbed Oh’s shirt, the player fell and VAR again called on the referee to review.  It was another stonewaller.  Don’t get me wrong, in no way wanting to punish a team that can actually give us a difficult game when they are already beaten, but Gogic’s offence was a textbook red card that had been reviewed by VAR.  How on earth………

    The rules in the US are utter bollocks.

     

     

    This is evidenced by the unwinding story re UK coming out re Hancock Whity Johnston and others in the Telegraph. Controlling and misleading the population.

     

     

    Little here was to do with following evidence and more to do with politics. No attempt was made anywhere to follow agreed pandemic protocols…….as laid down in 2011 and updated 2014 (apart from Sweden where net result from no lockdown was hugely better).

     

     

    There is no reason for this current ridiculous US rule right now. It serves no one. It is a farce. It only denies a great tennis player a chance to perform for his fans. He will still be world number one at the end of the month. It does nothing to help public health.

    I am sure there was chaos in UK as we were quite late iirc.However what was happening at corrupt central with Hancock the stressed out arse feeler has absolutely ZERO to do with US policy.They implement their own rules.Novac chooses not to follow those rules,ergo no entry.

     

    His choice.as an individual let him take responsibility for his own actions.

     

     

    Novac is obviously not meeting rule criteria,i am sure if you contacted US immigration or fda they would clarify what rules he broke.all i am saying your lookin at one side of equation,pro novac and theorizing bout vax validity,maybe the US apply the rules to avoid what happened in Aus.and take down the antivax conspiracy theorists poster boy.thats the way states work imo.

     

     

    Pity Tennis itself doesnt control its own sport.

     

    Virtue signalling to players due to their rank cos you can bet if Novac was a serb ranked always 50 to 100 there would be zero from the mememe circus that awaited Novac in Aus.i dont have any sympathy for him or tennis.

    The red card and Oh penalty incidents reveal the ‘secret’ to St Mirren’s success against Celtic and possibly others. If you re-watch the game, keeping an eye on Kyogo you will see him constantly fouled, blocked runs, tugged shirt, mauled down, time and again. Robinson should not be praised for his tactics, he should be slammed. Both incidents reveal the first thought, well drilled and instinctive actions of the St Mirren players. . . Foul your opponent, cheat your opponent, use every illegal tactic you can get away with to stifle any chance of them scoring. They kicked the ball away after every conceded foul and on no account were the very few ball boys to give the ball back to Celtic players. The whole event was a massive advert of anti-sportsmanship. St Mirren clearly reap the benefits in their results. They should be condemned for it, not rewarded.

    Good to hear ange and celtic are identifying players for the summer transfer window, i am sure that will always have been the case but without the quickness. That has got to be as much about ange refusing to wait an age players giving us an answer as anything else.

     

     

    If a player needs several months to decide and wait for better offers, it’s better to move on.

    I watched the Dr John Campbell all the way through and could not believe how pro-vaccine he was, he is now wakening up and has not stopped apologising for exactly what you are talking about.
